I didn't get to go. I ended up having to help my nephew move to a new place this weekend . I would have rather went fishing and from what I have heard I should have went fishing. I heard they really tore them up this week out in the flotilla. Several different people have said they caught 50-80 per day. So now I won't get to go till next weekend. Brian

Guess a Double! - WINNERS POSTED
standman replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Contests and Giveaways!
LOL!! It's not that you suck, it's that everyone is so much better at it than you Heck it's a tough contest when there are so many people that guess within 1 inch! TJ Bwwaaaahahahaha!!! You don't need to worry about a contest TJ. All you have to do is throw out how many years in a row you have drawn an elk tag and you are a winner hands down. Congrats to the winners! Brian -
That is awesome Jason! The boys did good! Congrats to them! Brian

My dad hasn't been out much in January. With the snow and ice, he isn't comfortable walking in and out of spots. Now that most of it has melted I may be able to get him out one more time. If not, he will be hard after them in August. At least I will get to go with him. He has the fishing bug right now so getting him to go hunting again will be a chore. LOL. Brian -
Nothing like seeing those big grins on the young hunters! Congrats! Brian

Haven't heard any reports but my dad did run out to the lake on Thursday and said that you can still launch at Soda Canyon and the lake doesn't go much past Old San Carlos Point. What flotilla was there was on the dam side of Old San Carlos Point. I am hoping to make a trip to the lake this upcoming weekend and I will report what I find out. Brian

Thanks everyone. I will admit that it was a lot of fun and a little frustrating at times, but mostly a whole lot of fun. He is not the biggest buck that I have killed but with all the work that went into getting him it sure was rewarding. He came through at 8:15 am and posed picture perfect at 20 yards. He went about 70 yards and piled up. I'm ready to go get archery coues #10, but I will relish in this one till January 2012. Brian -

Heck ya TJ! I love bluegills. I love to catch them and I love to eat em especially big ones. How big are they? I went to Roosey today and struggled as did most everyone else, except for a few guys that had some. Again awesome job and it looks tasty! Brian

Good luck TJ. If you happen to hear anything about Apache let me know if you would. As soon as I get hunting out of my system my dad and I are going to start to hit the lakes hard. Have fun and be safe. Brian

I think I have used up all my good karma killing a good one in August and drawing a goulds tag. Never been around so many deer and bucks and not be able to seal the deal. Sure been fun though. Brian -
Darn right it was a good month! Congrats! Brian

I was only able to sit a half day today. Had a one horned spike some by at 7:55am. Looked like he broke the other antler off at the pedical, looked like it would hurt like heck. Then had a small 2 point come by and let him pass. Then twice had the same 3 point as the other day show up. I swear he knows I'm there and he is just toying with me. He constantly will stay just in spots where he is covered up by something that I can't shoot through. Had him under 20 yards for 25 minutes and he never presented a shot. I'm going to sit Monday and Tuesday then after that I am going to do some glassing and do some spot and stalk hunting for a little while for a change of scenery. If you all are getting tired of me posting updates just let me know and I will let it go. All I know is that I am getting tired of posting unsuccessful updates. LOL. Brian -
That's a stud buck! congrats! Don't forget to enter him in the coues contest! Brian

I sat in the blind today till 2:30 today. I had a real pretty three point come in twice at 20 yards but each time he would only poke his head and neck out and then stop. He would not cross in front and go to the scrapes. He would just back out and go back the way he came. I think he had a sixth sense or something. Too bad, I was ready to put my tag on him. Had another buck cross in front but he stayed out about 50 yards. Could only see parts of him as he passed by. Also had one deer walk by behind me. Could only hear him walking in the crunchy snow. I'm not able to go tomorrow but I will be back out on Saturday. I just need a little more good karma to help me out. Brian
