Anyone doing the over the counter archery turkey
standman replied to couesdeerhntr's topic in Turkeys!
I'm pretty sure it is. I asked AGFD that at the R2 office and they confirmed it, if memory serves me correctly. Of course, with as much as I have going on, its possible my memory is fuzzy on that. It is good for both. I'm going for a day or two up to Unit 1. Brian -
Now that is awesome !!! Brian

My dad and I hit Apache today from 7-1:30. Cold and windy out of the north this morning. We froze till 9:30. Fishing was pretty slow till about 10 then the fishing was on fire. We ended up catching 29 Bass about half largemouth and half smallies. The average fish size is amazing there. The largest bass were 3.5lbs. We caught them on dropshot. Brian

Great goulds!!! Thanks for sharing your story and pics. Brian

For me it's because goulds tags just are not that difficult to draw :) lol. I agree with everyone else here. They are unique and not that many people ever get to hunt them especially here in the US. Plus you have to have one if you want the royal slam of turkeys. Here is the story of my second AZ goulds. http://www.coueswhitetail.com/forums/topic/24892-my-second-az-goulds-turkey/?fromsearch=1 Brian

I can't remember specific years, but I'm 38 now, drew my first when 14, eArly rifle bull 3C. Since then I've drawn two unit 1 archery bull tags and three 3C archery bull tags. In between those I believe I've had nine unit 1 archery cow and one unit 27 archery cow tags. I've drawn one 3C rifle antelope tag so far, that was seven years ago. Now only put for archery antelope. I don't let old tough guys like you get to me Rifleman. . you're the least of my worries. And ok let us know what you find out about him. It exists, just a matter of whether or not they are going to tell you it exists since they made a deal with him. Ask them about the sting operation when they tried getting another guy to poach a sheep and the AZGFD officer ended up shooting it and then tried getting the guy they took with them in trouble. See if they will tell you about that one too. Right story, wrong state. http://m.billingsgazette.com/lifestyles/recreation/court-battle-over-bighorn-sheep-hunt-nearly-over/article_f122083f-3ce8-59ae-bee5-da6029ef27f0.html?mobile_touch=true Brian

I drew an archery bull tag and yes the streak lives on. You're going to get me stoned to death Robert. 25 straight elk tags! TJ I won't stone ya TJ. Lol. Play the odds and stuff like this happens. I had 13 in a row once. Then I got greedy and thought I wanted one of the premium tags. But now back to playing the odds more. 2 out of 3 now. Hoping an average of every other year and ill be happy. I know a guy from Show Low that drew it. Brian -
Saturday, My mom, dad, and I hit Apache Lake for a little Easter time fishing day. We ended up with 19 bass, both largemouth and smallies, along with one small flathead catfish. Fishing was a little slower and the fish averaged a little smaller than on other trips but it still was a great day on the water. Once again fish were caught on dropshot. Quite a few people on the water and it was a zoo on the Apache Trail with all the traffic. One vehicle right after another. Here are a couple pics. Brian

They were tags only for the Hopi Indian tribe. Now that they are left over they are available to anyone. They were not regular draw tags Brian

Nada for me and the rest of the family. Brian

Since its pretty much the offseason for hunting now, I was wondering if anyone is going to try something new that you might try for the up coming season? For me, I'm still working on my recurve shooting. Been working on it for a about a year now. I was wanting to get good enough by this past January to hunt pigs and deer, but my accuracy wasn't quite where I wanted it. So I'm still working on it. This past month things have realy clicked with my shooting and now my accuracy has greatly improved. I shot my first Robin Hood with it last night at 20 yards. So hopefully this January the pigs and deer better watch out. So how about everyone else? Brian

It's a tilapia color.

They are only allowing unit 29 to be a 12 day archery hunt in January instead of all of January and again no December archery hunt for 29. Brian

At least I have one team in my bracket that will make the elite eight. Brian
