Lol! Oh yeah he's getting mounted. On a side note, he was the hardest deer I've ever had to trail, for one that was smoked through both lungs. Took 1 1/2 hours to to find him, and he only went about 100 yards. He didn't hardly bleed at all. Just little spots here and there, then he made a small circle where he crossed his back trail. That little move had me scratching my head for a little while. But it all turned out great. Brian

Thanks everyone. I really like him. He's a beautiful buck. Glad the hunt ended on a high and not on that miss . We will just have to to get the big one hard horned in January. Brian

Well this morning I had my chance at the buck I've been waiting for, the buck of my lifetime. 25 yards broadside, got drawn undetected, picked my spot on his heart, released and the buck came unglued at the shot and ducked. Clipped the hairs on top of his back. I am so sick I could jump off a tall building. Don't think I'll ever get over it. I know misses happen but not this time, not this buck! I'm now sitting on a hillside eating lunch wondering if I'll ever get that chance again. Brian

Sorry no pics. Figure he is high teens to low twenties. Hard to correctly figure a score on him with his left side being so palmated. Also has 8+" eye guards. Think he is an old buck on his way down. Just a buck dreams are made of. Brian

Flip side is that buck also knows to check the trees now. Are you hunting over salt or water? If you know where that buck will be standing scoot on back to 40 yards. Every deer I've ever shot at under 30 yards has jumped, but at 40+ they just stand there and watch that arrow come. I've killed a mess of them under 20 that never flinched, first one to do it to me. Have had mule deer and elk (surprisingly) do it Seen them jump the string for others. I'm about over it. Wouldn't change anything that I did. Would take the same shot again. Sometimes it's just not meant to be. Short memory, on to the next one. Back at it tomorrow. Brian

Last bull I killed, I killed on water with a blind. Set it up at 530pm didn't brush it in and killed a bull at 630pm. He had three cows with him and they didn't even look my way. I've had a herd come in and lay down, with one cow laying in the shade of the blind with her side pushing in the side of the blind. She didn't move f i r an hour and a half. Brian

Whole new coaching staff and new system, going to be some growing pains this year. Hopefully the start to improve each week. Kinda weird, two weeks of the season gone by and zero wins between BR and Show Low. The world is ending. Lol. Brian

I live up here in Lakeside. I wish all these people would go home. Dang road was like like a freeway at rush hour most of the day. Hope they all brought their own rock to fish off of lol. Think I'll stay home most of the weekend and just watch football. Brian

Thanks for the heads up. I ordered a pair. Brian

Are 15X's that much of an advantage
standman replied to joeinaz0's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I have the same issue as you. Had to go with the Minox 15x58. I have 8x around my neck. No scope. There are times I wish I had one though but I seem to do ok without. Brian
