  1. i mounted a swaro 6-18x50 av series on a rem 700 300rum. i am using 2 part leupold bases and high leupold rings. the scope has a total of 3.9 ft elevation adjustment. at 100 yards the bullets hit about 9 inches bellow bulseye, thats at the max elevation adjustment. i know sometimes on rare occasions shims need to be made. i tore everything down and remounted it and shot it again with the same results. ive never had this problem and have mounted plenty of scopes. i was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if you replaced bases or rings or made shims. -ryan

    sighting in problems

well i finnaly got it fixed. in took the rifle to the outdoorsman. they set it up on the boresighter. THey replaced the leopold rings and bases with brand new rings and bases, same model #'s. It was still way off for elevation. they then re-zeroed the scope to center and tried talley ring base combo (the ring and base is in one piece, one for the front and one for the back) part no. 950700. the height was adjusted 4 clicks and the windage 3 to bore sight it. i went to the range and my first shot was dead center 1.5 inches low, a made my adjustments and now i'm between about 2.5 and 3 inches hight at 100 (should be dead on at 300). I never had to move my windage knob. That should make the rest of the lines pretty close to 4, 5, 6, and 7. I am really impressed with the talley setup and am going to use their products on as many of my future rifles as i can. THanks for all the help guys. -Ryan

    sighting in problems

I am using the windage adjustment bases, its a 1 inch tube. i also checked to see if the scope was wearing anywhere, and it wasn't, i also looked at the rings and they weren't wearing anywhere oddly either. The scope has 188 elevation clicks (it actually has 210, i counted) and says a total of 3.9 feet adjustment, a little under two feet each way i am also thinking that for some reason my rifle may need a different bases. Thanks for all the help guys it just frustrates the heck out of me that i can't figure it out.-Ryan

    sighting in problems

Well some how i deleted my post to lark in trying to reply to arizona guide so ill try again. My rings need to be that high to clear the barrel, i tried the mediums first. I want too try and shim the back base, but then i think i am using Leupold and Swarovski and Reminginton products. Swaro and leupold are pretty darn good for manufacturing with low tollarances. Swaro and Leupold make there produsts so that i should not need shims. Remington should know a thing or two about low tollerences, i mean heck the build rifles. But i know very well that shi* happens. I am adjusting the elevation correctly, it started off 16-18 inches low and i corrected it to 9 inches low with max elevation adjustment. That was the first thing i thought of. The scope is mounted correctly in that the reticle is sitting correctly and not 90 deg. off. I have mounted 50+ mm scopes before with no problem. -Ryan
  5. i saw this spotting scope in the aug/sept eastman's gear for the west. I was wondering how clear they are, or if anyone has used them, and what they thought of them. Looks like it would be nice for a light weight scope.

I also steal my dad's cactuflage. its made in texas for the brush country but works great here, it has prickly pears and mesquite and yuccas on it.

    I drew 5th choice

i drew that hunt for my third choice, tag number 8. I find it very hard to believe that only seven people put in for that hunt as a first or a second choice. i'm not complaning at all, i just find that odd. I thought the 1st and second choices were drawn at the same time, then the 3rd. if anyone knows how this is possible, or has an ideas please fill me in

    AZ CREDIT CARD HITS

i checked all day online and on the phone for the recording. Nothing; i figured three hunters, all seperate apps, 12 in total and no draws was very heart-breaking, and a little unlikely. I just called and spoke to a person, a live one. I asked for any pending charges from today from arizona game and fish(specificly any for 78.00). I had three @ 19.50. Looks like myself, dad and sister all got drawn, my dad and I put in for whities only, my sis had some mulie hunts and whities. point is, talk to a person, ask for pending charges

    Tripod adaptor for Monarch ATB

I have a pair of monarchs. I dont know if anyone makes any of these anymore, or anything like them. They are caled websters, Just a piece of milled alluminum plate w/ a 1/4-20 female thread on the bottom, a little foam on top and velcro straps that hold each tube, they would work on just about anything. THey work great on my monarchs, and anything that size, i use them alot for my zeiss classics. My dad bought them a long time ago, i think they were made in tucson. He told me they they stpped making them. Maybe some of the guys one here will know what happened to them.
  15. I know there was some talk about some CouesWhitetail.com t-shirts and some low profile hats coming to the store in the future. I was wondering when we could expect them or if some more of the tan hats would be availaible

    CW.com hats

well thanks for the good news on the hats, and i hope everything goes well for the t-shirts
  17. i had a chance to hunt unit 21 last december. In an area that was about 1/3 to 1/2 burned by the cave creek complex fire. I was helping my cousin glass for a big whitetail he had seen, he had a rifle tag, and i brought my bow. I couldn't believe the amount of deer we saw, there was tons of mulies and whities. I also archery hunted near rye shortly after a fire their, and i saw lots of big mulies and some cow elk. I always knew fires helped new foliage grow, but i didn't think the deer and elk would go back to it that quick, it was less than six moths

    Best arrows

i shoot the easton axis, i like them alot, they fly like little darts for me. i know they just came out w/ one called a full metal jacket, and i think they are cheaper than the acc's, they might be worth a look. i guess they are the normal axis in a metal jacket, not sure how they are different from the acc

    7mm STW

my cousin uses a ruger no. 1 in a 7stw, stainless laminate, he likes it other than the trigger, i guess its pretty hard to change or lighten i haven't looked into it too much though. He's never complained about the weight, caliber, or anything besides the trigger pull
  21. thats a cool lookin muler deer slam w/ that kicker and massive drop tine on his right side. Were those pics taken w/ a trail cam or by you, real close
  22. <a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h225/youngbuck86/cropelk.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a> This was my first big animal, before this the biggest thing I ever shot was a rabbit. I was 10 and I was shooting a 243 I was afraid of the 7mag. My dad said I didn't have to shoot the 7mag if I was good enough with the 243. I was shooting less than 3 inch groups at 100 yards. I saw more bulls on this hunt than I had ever seen on any other. I had a huge 6x6 stare me down at 50 yards, he was storting and scarping the dirt, I was on the ground so that was cool. I probably had shots on 5-7 different bulls befor I had one on a cow. The cow I shot was with two giant bulls who hung around 20 minutes after I shot her, still to this day I think those two bulls were bigger that any ive seen in real life. I made a heart shot at 100 yards. She dropped in 10 yards. Looking back now it was really cool watching my dad, and how happy he was. I know now why he was so happy, I took my younger sister hunting pigs last year and I felt the same way when she shot hers. if the tag didn't work here is the link http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h225/you...k86/cropelk.jpg
