Bleaching Skulls?
youngbuck replied to azcouesandelk's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I do all my stuff w/ 40 liquid developer. I know other guys that soak it in regular peroxide, If all else fails flat/satin spraypaint works really well -
like the sitka pic doug. Ive always thought they were pretty neat critters. Anyways here is my very first big game animal in 1996. I was 10yo, cow @ 100 yards w/ the .243 Ill have to scounge up my first muley, coues and javy pics. Oh and my first bull in '08 I have on PB too and my first coues that wasnt a spike

Everything Ive shot or seen shot w/ an AB ends up in the freezer. 7mm 140 & 160 and 180 .30 cal is what Ive seen in action. This year my gun shooting .30 180s claimed 4 coues and one desert big horn. deer were 180, 330, 413, 722; sheep was 440. That was this year alone everthing fell in its tracks except the 722 yd coues, it made it about 10 yards. Everything was a 1 shot kill. Ive had the same results the past few years ive used them. Ive seen 600yd+ shots out of 7mm that did the same exact thing. I know the AB is the best the performing bullet on game ive ever used, especially our coues, they stay together well enough in hot rod calibers to not blow up and destroy the cape. I have also never used or seen the bergers used other than on TV. I was all set on buying some before i saw the performance of the ABs. Im sure nothing is wrong with the bergers, and i still want to try some, but the ABs work for me. I really dont think you can go wrong w/ either.

Ill have to get around to hinting/asking at my neighbor. He just recently opened up his second processing business. All his stuff is really good, includong his b-fast sausage. I also really like Millers SW's chorizo, its not greasy at all.

Ive been thinking about this question lately and w/ GH's post why not. Whats your dream hunt/critter? For me id have to say ibex, tahr, mountain goat, any sheep (dont have one yet and gotta start with one of em) Right now id rather do NZ than the dark continent, one day that might change but ive got alot of time to dream and hit the lotto between now and then

For me rechargables are kinda spendy, you gotta have 2 sets for em to work. Im not too good at chargin em before haind either. SLAs work great w/ a solar trickle charger. Takes a little time to put together a rig tho. For the money I find in my wildviews Interstate workaholic C batteries (alkaline) work the best. Ive never tried lithiums in my AA cameras maybe I need to.

I think theres too much space between antlers for coues. Very neat brows and extra stickers, especialy for a muley. Great find!

"The largest Mountain Lion ever to be documented weighed 276 pounds, but a Lion of this size is extremely rare." from http://www.nps.gov/brca/naturescience/mountainlion.htm Kinda looks photoshopped to me.

In the market for a new gun
youngbuck replied to elkhutnaz's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
spend alot of time over @ the long range hunting site. Im looking to take a step up and have been reseaching over there. Ive about got it figured out now what i wanna build. Good Luck! -
I heard a little miley cirus being sung (not by me) in camp this year. Its was pretty funny. If i need to wake up in the am Trivium is normaly a go to if im alone, most ppl dont wanna listen to that 1st thing in the am. After me and my buddy Justin shot his buck this year we were rockin out to In the air tonight

If you want turrets check out kenton industries. If you want a ballistic drop reticle, alof of people make em. If i could have my choice i'd go w/ a nightforce w/ 1/8 moa clicks. now i have a 6-18 swaro w/ a TDS, it works really well but ive also spent alot of time shooting the gun and know where its at. Zeiss has a good turret option. I always questioned spending the extra money on swaro glass i look through 30 seconds a hunt. im glad i did. its a lot easier finding a bedded or half hidden buck in the scope.

Great photos doug! Wish i had the time to learn how to use a camera correctly and the money to buy one, eh just another thing to add to the list. Glad to see you made it. My sister dug out Saturday midday to get some freshair for the first time since Wednesday AM She said it was alot worse than the storm last year that took out the Hastings roof.

Great pics, this is about the 10th time Ive looked through them. I would love to do something like that. I always say im gonna try and get out and help the ADA or AES but never find the time. Some hands on animal work would be pretty neat, especially with some giant rams

I guess ill get in on this. In my liftime (soon to be 24) I have seen muley numbers drop and coues rise by quite a bit, both desert muleys and ones up north. Ive spent alot of time on the rim and have seen fewer and fewer muleys up there. Along with that i have seen more and more WT there. I also spent alot of time in the desert chasin big muleys. When I was younger 10-15 I could always draw a youth muley tag in the same unit. I could always find huge bucks, like 170+ almost every year. I missed my fair share of em, never got one of the big guys. I still hunt these areas for pigs and it is a rarity to see a decent muley. I glassed up a 155ish muley a couple weeks ago and was super excited to see a decent buck. Im sure these cycles happen all the time but ive finally spent enough time around I can see slower transitions. I would also compare a 100 buck to something smaller than a 200" flop ear. Im a diehard WT guy but id take the 200" muley over a WT under 110" inches anyday i think, well id have to think about those 108s and 109s

Once I got a good look at his rack I completely lost it. Buck fever to the max. Arms and legs were shaking uncontrollably. I kept whispering "he is only 90, he is only 90,"trying to calm my nerves. Nothin beats that! I have told 2 people who were shootin at big stuff this year "they arent that big just squeeze slow" while i am shakin im so excited. I wish I had some pics of some of my misses. Congrats on the other buck by the way.
