vortex viper 6.5-24 x 50 rifle scope for sale.

They made a 6.5-20 or a 6-24. I'm guessing it is the 6.5-20x50. I have one of those and they are great scopes for the money. If it is 6-24 viper PST, I will take it, depending on reticle.
  2. I usually bring a box of 20 for what ever rifle I'm hauling. Sometime that 20ct box has 20, other times only 6 or so. I put them all in my pack. It usually works out to 3 in the mag and the rest in the box.

    .270 vs .308

A lot of trial and error. H-1000 would be on the top of my list. Retumbo may give you a little more velocity, but with a larger extreme spread. That is what I've found with my loads. I've never loaded for a 300WM, but most of my other magnum cartridges like it.

    Gross or Net?????

SCI does have a Book Printed for just Archers! The one I have is SCI World Bowhunting Record Book Edition II. They also list "taken with bow and arrow" in the normal record books. I guess I learn something every day. Now I just need to work on arrowing a buck big enough to make the books.

    Gross or Net?????

The only guys who I hear use the term net score, are the guys trying to get into the books. The only time I'll use a net score is if I'm seeing where someone's buck will go in the books. I'm too concerned with getting the buck on the ground to think about getting him in the book. I don't have the figures on numbers of entries to P&Y, B&C, and SCI. It seems people are making more entries to SCI these days. The only down side to the SCI books is that they don't have separate categories for the archery guys.

    inexpensive taxidermist ???new pics

I've seen most of the taxi's work who post and advertise on here. Some are more expensive then others. There are three things to consider in taxidermy: quality of work, time frame, and expense. You usually can't have 2 without sacrificing the 3rd. If you find one one that will give you all three, stick with them. I would look at Wild heritage, Mogollon, Bagnolli, but most likely Wellers, if you are close to Tuscon. There are probably others who are really good who I left out. I'm just familiar with the ones I've listed. The taxidermists that sound expensive, and are well thought of, usually put out good work faster than the well thought of taxidermists who charge less. You can get a 1st class deer shoulder mount for less than 1,000, some may charge about 1/2 of that.

    inexpensive taxidermist ???new pics

If you want something cheap, you will actually get some good from, do a euro mount. If you have billy bob slap something together for $300, it will never make it on the wall. It will be in the garage, never seen again, and you'll be out 300 dolars. I'm speaking from experience here, and from more than one occasion. Euro's always look good, crappy taxidermy never does, and never will. Good taxidermy on the other hand is great. If you don't want to spend at least $500 with SOMEONE WHO IS KNOWN FOR DOING GOOD WORK for that kind of money, I would highly suggest paying someone with beetles or doing a euro your self.

    sausage mix from scratch

Is there anybody thats making sausage mix from scratch? I've got a couple ideas and just wanted to know some of the basics. I'd like to try something with green chilles and carmelized onions, both breakfast and italian or something similar. Perhaps something with serranos and habenero garlic too. I do a lot of cooking with ground meat; burger, italian, chorizo ect. Most of my recipes I've changed around to use bulk italian sausage, or ground game meat of somekind. I'm just looking for something new to try. I figure I can start by using some of the mixes that I like and then doctor them up a bit if I can't find any ideas.

    .270 vs .308

I'm not sure who wrote the article, or exactly what his loads were. My three LR rigs energy levels at 1k yds (2600ft elv): 1078 ft/lb, 1721 ft/lb, and 2644 ft/lbs. Like 308 said, 270s are limited in bullet choices for energy at 1k. 6.5mm, 7mm and 30cal all have great selection of bullets, and multiple choice with high enough BCs to keep energy up at 1k+. edit: It looks like they were using 150 & 180gr bullet in the .30 for energy numbers. That weight of bullet is the last choice if you are wanting energy at 1k. In the 30-378 208gr+ bullets will really shine. It will top my energy at 1k (1727 ft/lb) in my RUM using 230gr bergers.

    The Draw

That is how it works. For every bonus point you have you are assigned a random number. As I understand it, if there are 100 applicants with 5 bonus points each, AZGFD assigns numbers 1-500 to every bonus point. If those 100 applicants are applying for 10 tags, simplified, numbers 1-10 get tags.

    Use of the word "Harvest"

I've heard or seen the bit Carlin did on euphemisms. Carlin is a pretty sharp guy, I like most of his stuff. The first time I heard the term "harvest" was at an AZGFD hunter education class when I was 9, 16 years ago. My dad and I joked about it, about how cheesy it sounded. The reason people feel the need to use "harvest", or euphemisms in general, is because someone before them started to use a "better term". If everybody used "kill" from day one there would be no problem with it today. There wouldn't be a bad connotation associated with the work kill. The forums I visit about trapping is full of euphemisms. I understand why. The general public is against trapping or using fur. It's funny because half of them probably drive cars with leather seats. I suppose furs or socially acceptable as long as you shave the hair off. I see the side to cater to the non-hunters. The majority of the public is a non-hunter, and they don't have a good or bad feeling about hunting. It is important to get the non-hunters to side with us, it is a large group of people. To this day I refrain from using the term harvest. In my hunting group of friends, I also use more descriptive terms over "kill". I feel Mr. Quimby's pain about the decline of grammar. When I was in school grammar was either correct or wrong. These days it seems there is a gray area. Some chopped up words have found their way into "acceptable use of grammar". Congrats, alot, unnecessary use of commas and apostrophes, specifically with a non for plural, are all over looked today. The text lingo started with the explosion of the internet. Then it went crazy with cell phones. I text in short hand often. I also know when and where to actually use the things I have learned in school. I had a writing teacher who talked to me about purposely misspelling words to get a "voice". I do this frequently, depending on my audience and where I'm writing. The best example of this is Lark. Believe it or not, he knows how to spell. He spells the way he does to have a "voice". This is the reason his posts are so much fun to read. Most of the grammatical errors, these days, are not to attain a "voice", but due to ignorance. I'm sure educators have a difficult time with this. In my high school, we all laughed it off. It was a joke, someone forgot they weren't texting. It seems today people don't know the difference between text language and English. Another problem is the internet itself. What is it? for me, it is just like real life. There are places it is acceptable to use shorthand language. However, there are some places on the internet where there is a need for the proper use of grammar. Another reason for the decline is the invention of spell check. I used to know how to spell, now I can get close and spell check fixes it. The further computers come a long, the fewer buttons I have to push to have it fix my spelling. Pretty soon I don't click any buttons. I expect the computer to read my mind and fix every error I've typed out. When it comes down to it, I don't run around on forums being the grammar police. I also don't get bent out of shape when someone corrects me. I see written and spoken language as a way to transfer ideas, thoughts, and concepts. If it is on the internet and I can understand it, I'll reply if I can help. If I can't tell whether or not you're writing notes from your differential equations class, I leave it alone. In my opinion, the rules of grammar are in place to have a standard, so everyone can understand them. If everybody goes around inventing their own language, eventually no one will be able to interpret it.

    Leica geovids

Call Doug @ CameralandNY or maybe Outdoosmans. I've made them from duct tape and other stuff in a pinch. They hold up just fine for a couple weeks of hunting.

    10mm Witness

Made by Tanfolglio, imported by EAA. This is a new in box Witness, in 10mm with wonder finish. It is an all steel, CZ-75 clone. Comes with 1 15rd mag. I bought this at a gun shop over a month ago. I always wanted a 10mm, so I bought one. It was kinda a spur of the moment thing. I installed a 20lb Wolf recoil spring and a Buffer Technologies recoil buffer. It has not had one round fired. I have a new rifle on the way and need to free up some funds for glass and some smith fees. I also have a full box of Winchester 175gr silver tips. $450 OBO. I'll be puting it on backpage in a few days. AZ DL required, CCW prefered, with bill of sale. I really like the pistol, but rarely shoot pistols.

    Moon phase

I do find more critters when the moon isn't full. I've also come to realize that I wont let the moon phases dictate how or when I'll hunt. Most tags in AZ are so short of a season it doesn't matter what the moon is doing, I need to be hunting those days regardless, if it is only a 6 day hunt. Most of the better hunts; late WT, archery elk, sheep, are longer hunts, but more "special". These hunts I hunt everyday I can, because it will be many years before I have a chance to do it again. The animals are there when the moon is full or not, raining, windy, and hot. It makes it easier on me to find them, but I'll be looking for them regardless.

    270wsm mountain rifle

I've been kicking around a similar idea for a lightweight rig. I've thought about 6.5WSM and 7WSM, at time the 270s. I would probably go with a 7WSM w/ a B&C Alaskan stock (really light weight and not as much as a Mcmillan edge). Thin tape barrel and Talley light weight one piece rings/bases. I'd be unsure about the scope, nothing crazy 4-16ish most likely, perhaps a light wight 6-20. I'd like to use 162 a-max if I went 7mm. If I was going to build it on a 700 LA, I would consider other chamberings. The 7wsm would be easy enough on the shoulder without a brake and a light weight build. The WSM on a LA gives you plenty of room to seat the bullets way out there, while fitting in the mag without much smithing or extended boxes. I crunched the numbers of 6.5, 270, and 7WSMs. 270 bullet offerings are slim if you want to stretch your range with higher BC bullets. There are guys who make good BC 270 bullets, but only a few. 6.5 and 7mm offerings are plentiful. The only benefit I saw to a 6.5WSM wildcat was reduction in recoil on the light platform. It also had the cool wildcat thing going for it. Barrel life isn't as good as a 7WSM. Energy was better with the 7s. I'd also consider the SAUM as well, especially if I went the 6.5 route. I'd also consider 7-300WSM too for a longer neck.

    Ruger m77 mkII

I have a Ruger m77 mkII chambered in 338WM. It has a muzzle brake, looks like a Vanhorn brake. It is the older style "boat paddle" stock. It is a really nice looking rifle, high gloss blue on it. No scope. 500 OBO. Let me know if that sounds high, I figured 400 for the rifle and 100 for the brake, I think last time I looked Vanhorn was 180ish for installed. I'll try and get some pics up. Also still have my unfired 10mm I need to sell as well. http://forums.coueswhitetail.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=26179

    cold cure

A place called Los Tocos in AJ has the best adobada I've ever had. Its kind of like a nice Filly-B's with WAY better food. I eat there once a week when I'm at work and get burritos to go for most weekends out in the hills. It is definately worth a try for your adobada fix.

    cold cure

"Chlorpheniramine maleate" they are allergy pills. Wal-mart and Costco sells it. Costco's is dirt cheap, its at the pharmacy counter, you gotta ask for it. This stuff is worth its weight in gold. I take that and sudafed to get rid of the sinus headaches. There has been lotsa times that stuff has helped me hunt instead layed up in camp. If it is in your chest get some Guaifenesin, its sudafed for your chest, it breaks all that gunk up. Also, the guy you brought on your lope hunt told me a good trick too. In the shower snort up some hot water. It will clear your sinuses. I also watched a guy out in the hills snort a little Copenhagen to do the same thing, it sure worked. I was laughing but it got all the snot outa his head.

    A little help in 5A

I got a call to help a guy in 5a tomorrow for a cow hunt. I haven't spent much time up there looking for critters. I'll be close to FR141. I normally don't ask for info, but this was a last minute deal. If you do have info you'd like to share, please PM me. Can you glass much there? I'd feel pretty bad if I couldn't find one cow, just wondering what to expect.
