Looking for someone to develop a round
Big or Bust replied to olmos1010's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I've gotten to the top accuracy node with 6-8 firings on brass with the data I've provided in no fewer than 4 factory Tikka's with 22" tubes... 150's are 2775-2825 pretty routinely... -

These are routine velocities of handloaders using powders listed in 22" barrels. Some of the new IMR stuff is even better. Nothing secret at all... Lawyered up published factory loads and load data is generally not the best thing to use for ballistics, even if you buy the cartridges. Nosler is the best by far for published data in my experiences... -

A 22" 7-08 should easily get 2700+ with a 154.... I get 2700+ with 162's and a 22" tube... For strictly a coues rifle, I'd run a 140 Berger in your Tikka with a 2.805" mag length ... RL-17, RL-16, Big Game, or H4350 -
You may say you're not a Democrat but I got news for you... Oh, and older most definitely doesn't give you a pass on being wiser. There are lots of old guys who are bitter, think the world's against them, and think everyone under the age of 40 are idiots. I've found that generally, the old guys who are like this are bitter about younger people making choices in life and going about their business in ways they wish they would have.

Don't bring economics or common sense into this....grin...

Pass on the Vortex....

I'd do archery no doubt.... By the time e you might draw a rifle tag, you'll already gave another archery tag in a mid tier unit.... I like to hunt... YMMV...

Looking for input on a scope for a lightweight 7 mm-08 AI
Big or Bust replied to 300RUM's topic in Long Range Shooting
The 3-9 SWFA is a much more user friendly scope than the 3-15.... -
Questions on the next setup...what off the shelf platform, various 6.5 options...
Big or Bust replied to Green Bullet's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
The .25's are at such a bullet disadvantage, regardless of muzzle velocity or case size... -
The 4.4-14 Leupold does not have a friendly eye box nor is it as user friendly. The 3.5-10 is a much superior scope....

I'd mount a 2-10x32 or x42 Nightforce as you mention or a SWFA 3-9x42.... -
If you guys haven't run the meopta S2, you are seriously missing out but I won't scream any louder....
-
Meopta S2 or Swaro 95 mm...
-
He's definitely 150". With just that one photo I'd say you are at that 160" mark or close.... Good fronts are better for score than good backs...
-
Good guy bump. This is a super sweet rifle twisted right for the high BC stuff....
-
Swaro HD 12's or 15's and a Meopta S2 or Swaro HD spotter.... Anything Vortex in a binocular is an easy pass...

Bro - no tough guy here. Pronghorns are the subject. Tough guy stuff is for rifles or bullets...grin... You opined that the goats off Three Links might be Sonoran's and said you didn't know. I simply let you know that they were not. I'd suggest not opining on something you don't know much about and then not getting sensitive when you are wrong. Have a good one -
-
There was also elk in Oklahoma.....grin
-
Bud - watch the video. Do 1 minute of googling.... You saw Sonoran's down in the Agua Prieta or nearby. FACT. The goats off Three Links in Unit 32 are hunted goats. They are the "American Pronghorn" which are all over. FACT. AZGFD will not conduct a hunt for pronghorn where Sonoran's live. Our communication is getting crossed. Sonoran's only live right around where you saw them and in Mexico....
-
Those are not Sonoran goats. These are. Different subspecies. I would imagine the ones off Three Links outside Willcox were in fact Sonoran, but I do not know for sure. Um, no. AZGFD does not have a public hunting draw for endangered species.
