That is about my load too Stomp in a 22" tube. Think I'm at 59.0 even in a 22" tube and am about at 2,825.

They'll stop during their hasty retreat after I've been busted with a bow and maul a barrel cactus. Then start their hasty retreat again. I'm talking big big boys.. See it quite often...grin...

Tikka CTR... -
I'd highly suggest the Nosler Etip then.... I'd take it's terminal performance over the TSX or TTSX all day long. Plus better BC's....

The outdoor edge blades IME, dull 3x faster. I use them simply because of the much easier and safer blade changing....

All 4... I thought I had missed my chance when I seized up as their was some writhing in the snow... But got it under control just before they fed across the small opening I had...

Returned last week from a 3rd season buck hunt in Colorado. Pretty sporty hunt as we always bailed off the mountain due to snow on day 1. My good buddy was stranded for 10 days in same camp 2 years ago before we were able to get him out of there. Long story short, the bucks were only moving at night, the full moon and wind made the first 4 days rough. Passed this guy up on morning of Day 5, then regretted it. Found him again and I shot him that evening. Pretty sporty packout as I started to suffer from severe dehydration and barely made it back to camp. I knew I was in trouble as getting on the ground to shot him, both calves and hamstrings seized at the same time. That was interesting. Very tough hunt this year. I feel fortunate to have had a crack at this guy. 505 yards, 168 VLD from a .280 Ackley. Buck goes 182"...

Got the 2 in, 1 out going Lance? Or just this specific range session? -
Finished up an elk hunt earlier this week. Tough hunt, hot, but wet. Post rut. Had been seeing this bull all week and waited until the last day. We knew he was about half the man he used to be but I do feel honored to have had an opportunity at this old warrior. He had scars all over him. His main bean snapped off below his brow, the top of his remaining beam was missing, and he had what looked like a big wound on his skull from the fight. But he was still doing his thing. Was prepared for a longish shot but was presented a shot from a bit over 200 yards. Dead right there. .280 Ackley, 168 Berger. Recovered a Berger under offside hide after a quartering-to shot. Bullet did fantastic and couldn't ask for more. Had two good buddies along for the ride which is always better when you kill a big bodied bull...grin.... Day before

From a recoil, brass, and bullet option perspective, especially in a Tikka, it is surpassed easily....

What are the best aftermarket barrel options?
Big or Bust replied to Presmyk's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Really hard to find a bad barrel these days.... I like Brux, Pac-Nor, and Lilja for their options, quality, turn around time, and custom work.... -
Ron, it's a Chad Dixon built Long Rifles rig. 700, Brux #3 I believe at 22" and 9", KS Edge.... H4831sc, Nosler brass, 168VLD at 2,820 or so...
