It is what it is. We have zero control over that and I don't like it anymore then everyone else. But with all the parks in this state on the chopping block its better then not having a range to shoot at. Thats the way I try to look at it.

The 2 dollars should only be for the shooters.

Guess the Score Contest - Jan 2010
BowNut replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Contests and Giveaways!
+1 lets get it done. -
As far as I know we had only one issue and it was resolved the best it could for that day as soon as it was noticed. And resolved totally to start the second day. First and foremost we do everything we can to make every shot a safe one. But sometimes issues arise when you get the 250 shooters out on the courses. Thanks for the input we will do our best. We will be setting targets Friday AM before the shoot feel free to come up lend a hand.

As far as I know our club has had no feedback "YET" from anyone about the combining of the classes. I'm just doing my best to be the messenger here guys. As I said in another post everyone who has questions or concerns needs to contact the ABA or go to there meeting to voice your opinions. The clubs hosting the shoot are doing just that hosting the shoot. Rules are set by the ABA we just go by there rules. Also remember this is NOT an IBO sanctioned event. I hope some day we have the shooters it would take to use all the IBO classes that would be great but we just do not have the numbers in most of the classes. And Scott you think I want to shoot against you and Drew and the other guys???? I have enough trouble with your kid. From what I got from Stoney at our meeting they want to do everything they can to make the Triple Crown better then ever so contact them tell them what you think, give them your opinion. They do not know about it if you do not tell them. Stoney Amerine amerines7@aol.com Thanks Guys Dallas

Well Scott I guess we/Usery had some cards done up for next year with 11's on them just in case we did run out cards for a couple classes this year. We did them with 11's and figured we would just change a few 11's to 12's if needed. I was told they found out we had them printed and the rest of the clubs were good with the change this year now so they ran with it. So if there are any clubs out there that need a couple cases of score cards with 12's we have a couple.

I would say Yes it will be 60# max. But I sent an email to Stoney to be sure. I will let you know for sure. Yes they will still use the 5gr rule UNLESS "2. In the case where an archer’s equipment, when shot at five (5) grains per pound, does not generate 280 fps, that archer may shoot arrows weighing less than five (5) grains per pound. However, equipment qualifying under this paragraph (III.A.2) shall not exceed an arrow speed of 280 fps. A variance of three percent (3%) will be allowed for chronograph variation." My Mom Jackie has got an all new setup on her bow and is excited to get shooting when the snow melts!

We had a meeting with Stoney and we brought up the same things you just did. We knew there would be these questions thats why we had the meeting. I personally brought up the fact that if we are going to use the IBO rules we needed to use all of them. We had talked to them about just changing the ABA book to reflect the changes would be best. But with the only real changes being the scoring, classes and 5gr they felt it would not be a big deal. On scoring the 11 ring the ABA does not buy the cards each club does. Its a money thing we have boxes of cards that we spent a lot of money on and we need to use them. We talked to Stoney about just having a way to change the cards and we decided to just leave them and change over next year when we only have half the cards to throw away. Every shooters meeting at every shoot this will be talked about so everyone knows it will change next year. Now for the classes it's just numbers. There are way to many classes in the IBO rule book for us to have enough shooter to have all of them. We tried the Advanced Hunter Class a couple years ago and I shot in it there were about 5 shooters at the 1st leg and 3 by the 3rd leg. We left it up to the ABA to come up with the classes. Not 100% sure but I think they just decided the classes by the number of shooters that shot each class if the numbers dropped to low over the 3 or 4 legs over the last couple years they dropped it. If there is not enough shooters to have a class by the last leg there is no reason to have it. I think thats why the did away with Pro or Money class not enough shooters at the end to make it worth having the class. Other then the things you brought up (and we brought up to them) if you look at the ABA and IBO rule books the rest of the rules are the same. The 5gr per pound thing has to do with insurance. ABA has IBO insurance 5gr per pound is a safety thing. I don't think it makes it even at all. Some bow shoot a 5gr arrow at 290fps and others shoot a 5gr arrow at 360 not sure how even that is. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.I think most of the wrinkles will be worked out by next year. Also contact Stoney or any other ABA board member with any questions. They don't know what you think if you do not tell them. Thanks and we will see you there Dallas

1 Deer per year if you are hunting AZ you are done. Go find a big one for next year.

The valley is the part of the draw after the bow lets off to full draw. If a bows valley is short it is tuff to shoot because it wants to take off on you. I would take him to shoot all the bows in the price range you wish to spend. With 27" draw and if he pulls 50# with no trouble I would get him a 50-60# bow there are tons of options not just the 2 you listed. Let him shoot all of them you can and let him see what he likes.

.270 would be the better choice. IMO If you need to question if it will work or not go with what will work.

Maybe for weather or maybe some way they can tell if the mountain is about to slide down on the road again.

Not sure what it is but there is one like that just off the highway before you drop off the hill just past the Mt. Ord turn off on the North side.

This year we will score 12's. Only because the all the clubs running the shoots have 12 on there score cards. But yes we will be going to 11's next year.
