Dangit I love you guys... That was one of the funnest trips ever. I still laugh out loud everytime I pass through that area. Chris I do think it was 5 lions though. For all you non believers that country is chock full of cats. One morning the three of us could see four lions in our binocs without moving them. And its not that uncommon to see them in groups of two or three, since the kittens stay with the mom till they are practically full size. On that trip we saw at least one lion a day every day. and far more lions than mature bucks, of which we only saw one, which Joshy killt. Talk to you guys later Jeff Falls.

Call it doom and gloom or whatever, but I believe we at the begining of the end. Watch, USO will sue the state because nonresident fees are to exhorbinant. G&F will lower them and we will be right back where we were w/o a cap. It was already stated that their lawyer was not happy with G&F's decision. Why doesnt G&F just cut to the chase and give Taulmann 500 tags right off the top. That'd shut him up. Of course next year hed sue for 600. And what will be considered a Premium elk hunt, all hunts that take place before November or all bull tags? And what about premium deer hunts, just those north of the River or rut tags too? ugh im going to be sick

I feel like i just got kicked in the kahonies. I just killed a nice whitetail during the archery hunt this year. I knew this deer was a blessing but I did not realize how much of a blessing till now. I may have just killed my last deer. If tag fees go up as much as you guys say, and with no limit on non residents I believe my hunting days are over. Not to mention, how am I going to pass on the fine tradition of hunting to my 5 year old daughters. Game and Fish has about as much collective testosterone as my wifes hairdresser. Once again biting the hand that feeds them. Its obvious to see where they were all along on this whole issue. Like we all thought but didnt want to believe its all about the money. More non residents + higher tag fees = more dollars to fund wolf reintroduction and mountain lion retirement programs. More feel good junk like "conservation points" and "loyalty points" does anyone still fall for this tired old line? Raising tag fees will only accomplish 1 thing. Now itll be even easier for the out of staters to get a tag. Cause they wont have to compete with so many of us "working class" folks anymore. Well all be sitting home, getting our hunting fix watching Bill Jordan and Babe Winkleman on TV. I really can't believe this day has come I always said it would but, not this soon. And the gall of USO to send some smarmy lawyer over here to tell US how WE will be doing things? And we all know G&F will just bend over and play there way. The more I think about this the madder I get. I just cant believe it. Something needs to be done, we need to take our back our wildlife and our traditons. Problem is that most of us wont do anything. Weve got jobs and families and wen it comes down to the nut cutting theres just not enough time or money left to fight. G&F knows this. Taulman knows this. My wife just told me Im preaching to the choir. Well just see who our friends are now. Are any of the big wild life foundations/associations gonna step up? Lets take action. Muskrat, I havent heard what came about at the Safford meeting. Got any details? Reading the "solutions" they had proposed on their website, there were three that I thought had merit - Eliminating or revising the internet draw process - the commercial and non commercial tags and... - creating a seperate tag pool for non res applicants (which was a suggestion I had emailed to them)

I turned in some guys about 12 years ago when I witnessed them shoot a couple of mulie does in unit 21. I took pictures of there camp and truck. Called G&F waited all day on sunday for an officer to show up. Went back with him to the site. We drug the deer to the road loaded them in his truck then took him to there camp, where I identified them. He then confiscated their guns and cited them for littering and charged them with the poaching of the deer. The case never went to court, they ended up pleading no contest to the littering charge were fined a small fee and thats it. Seemed like a big waste of time to me. Never even got a thankyou from the officer. The only thing the poachers learned was that its ok to poach as long as you always remember to pick up your empty cigarette packs when your done.

Guess Ill be hunting coues with my bow this year, probably do some bear hunting also. Then there is the 19a antelope tag I drew that starts in less than a month. yeah! Jeff Falls

Its good to know that im not alone in my utter lack of patience. Every year its the same thing. Ive been checking the website everychance I get and if I get an extra minute at work I call them on the phone...

Does anybody know what day they actually do the draw?
-
I purchased a new .25-'06 this spring, i think itll be a perfect whitetail caliber. Though i have killed most of my deer with a trusty old 30'06. Good luck to everyone in the draw. Jeff Falls

Water has a large part to do with coues being at lower elevations. Stock tanks that are maintained through these dry years have brought them down.
-
What about extreme fringe areas. I have seen some excellent sheds from areas like 5b and 4a. Does anyone out there ever try for coues in these areas?
-
Thanks for the help you guys... Cant wait to get out and shoot. Hopefully Ill get to break it in the right way on a big Coues buck.

Over the weekend I purchased a 25 '06. I think it will make an excellent choice for Coues deer. I am not a reloader and was wondering if anyone here has any infor to share on ammunition, bullet choice etc. thankyou.
