  1. Casey, I think I would follow everyones advice and use that rifle. My Grandma just gave me a Wichester pump .22 that was my Grandfathers. He passed away before I was born. My Grandma and Dad used it for many years. I'm going to fix it up and when my kids are old enough to appreciate it I will give it to one of them. Travis

Where do you find most sheds????

Don't forget to look where the new green feed is coming up. It seems like in April (when they shed) there is usually new green stuff coming up on the slopes and benches where I find most of my sheds. By the way Scott, I checked the regs and it is ok to spotlight for sheds as long as you don't have a firearm in the vehicle. Hehehe. Travis

    what broadhead do you use?

I havn't killed a coues with my bow yet, but I use 90 grain Bloodtrailers. A buddy of mine killed a Coues a few years back with these same broadheads and the exit wound was huge. I have killed a couple of javalinas with them. I like them because they fly like field points. Travis

    Antler Drop

Most of my shed hunting is in 23. They seem to drop mid-April. I think they are like elk somewhat. The mature bucks usually drop thier antlers first. Travis

Where do you find most sheds????

Amanda, I will have to think about that one. The fat shed came from Canyon Del Oro (not in 23.) The other big sheds my Dad found in 23 are in wilderness and difficult to get to. A couple of my good sheds came from 23 and maybe we could go there. It is a pretty good hike though. By the way my Dad found another one in Canyon Del Oro that had bigger bases and more main beam, but he gave it away. Travis

    Rifle caliber

I started out using a .25-06 Remington ADL with a 3-9 by 40 Leupold shooting 100 grain Remington Bullets. Then I moved up to 7mm mag. Ruger Mark II with a Boyds Thumbhole Stock and a 3-9 by 50 Leupold, shooting Sierra 160's. My newest gun is a Sako TRGS in the .308 Warbird. It is topped by a Burris 4-16 by 44 ,AO, BMD,and Posi-lok. I will probably be shooting the Barnes 130 grain (undersized and moly coated) that will be moving over 4,000 fps. This one should be the ultimate Coues Rifle on the planet. Travis
