Very cool pics! Looks like a hybrid and that stotting is something you never see in a whitetail....so mixed behavior too! I think that last photo totally captures a hybrid look and behavior....big ears, whitetail down, stotting like a muley....very cool

Fall Color Trip to New Hampshire and Maine
CouesWhitetail posted a topic in Non-hunting trip reports
My husbands' side of the family lives in New Hampshire and Maine and so we generally go back there every October to visit family and enjoy the amazing fall colors out there. we spent a week out there and loved it! Ate lots of great seafood! amazing color: a beautiful covered bridge with some maples around it: We also enjoyed some time walking the beach: Paul sportin' his CWT tshirt at the beach Lobster fest with family! lobster omelet made from left overs the next morning! YUM! some pumpkin beer we tried....very good! some beautiful episcopal churches, there were so many, but I only photographed two. It was a great trip with family and friends. The weather was perfect too!! about 65-70 degrees everyday! Just wonderful. -

Fall Color Trip to New Hampshire and Maine

depends on if you buy them live to cook (maybe $7/lb) or buy them in a restaurant cooked (about $10 to $12/lb). My husbands' brother owns a seafood restaurant so they provide the lobster feast free of charge for us! Can't beat that! -
San Carlos Unit B.....MONSTER!!!!!
CouesWhitetail replied to Apache7mm's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Congratulations on a great buck! It does look like a muley/coues hybrid. If you still have the legs (or photos of the legs), the check the gland on the outside lower portion of the rear legs. You can measure the length of the gland to determine species or hybrid. -

not nice! -
Oh My!! Those are amazing photos Doug!! Thanks for posting them! WOW!

There is less hunting pressure in Mexico so there are higher buck:doe ratios and more big bucks. That's not to say that there are not ranches that are hunted hard in mexico, but the ones that are lightly hunted tend to have a lot of older, larger bucks.

AGFD made it a little easier for you to realize your dream....you can now take two javelina a year instead of just one. So you could take one with a bow and one with a rifle during the same spring in different hunts.

I am stuck doing work the first few days since I was on vacation for a week. But soon....soon...I will be out there glassing away.

I use mine with national geo topo, but it works differently than other GPS's I have used with National Geo TOPO! It stores each day's waypoints in a separate gpx file. that file can be imported into topo. But it doesn't download all way points at once like my old garmin, instead you have to download all the gpx files for each day and then open them individually. Hunting GPS maps works great on this unit, that's what I put onto my GPS and I love that map.

Coues deer eat a huge variety of plants. Browse just means any shrubby bush that they will eat and there are many species of those. The species they use most changes during the seasons and elevation where you are hunting. mesquite, catclaw, manzanita, evergreen oaks, mountain mahogany, ceanothus/buckbrush are some of the favorites. But they also eats lots of forbs and many times during fall hunts I see them eating fruits on the barrel cactus. if you check out this page you can see some photos of what coues habitat looks like. http://www.coueswhitetail.com/2012/05/coues-deer-habitat/ -
