I received this update yesterday by email: Basin Fire Update May 3, 2014 Incident Commander: Lemual Juan Contact: San Carlos Tribal Forest Resources Program, San Carlos, Arizona Daily Phone Information (928)475-2326 from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm. Start Date: April 22, 2014 Size: 4,552 acres Cause: Lightening caused. Growth Potential: fire activity is low and smoldering Percent Contained: 30% Resources Assigned: § Firefighters: Ten men crew § Two Engines § Miscellaneous Overhead Summary: Things are winding down; resources are starting to be released except for the two engines, ten men crew and miscellaneous overhead. Low intensity fire continues to creep in the interior of the fire perimeter with some smoke in the drainages. Today the crew and engines will be monitoring and patrolling the perimeter for hot spots. Smoke will start to clear from the Basin Fire; however, the Skunk Fire on the Military Trail and the Willow Fire near Willow Mountain may increase in size and release more smoke into the atmosphere. Safety for fire fighters and the public is our number one priority. If the community members or hunters are planning to be in the Bloody Basin area please be aware the Basin Fire is still active. Smoke from smoldering debris is still in the area. Updates will continue to be posted/emailed and KYAY 91.1 will be announcing Fire Updates. Updates will be showing on SCATUI’s Channel 11. Face book and twitter account at “San Carlos Wildfires”.

Sounds awesome! I was just thinking about doing the same sort of thing after I watched a friend of mine in an episode of Naked and Afraid. He got so seriously sick that they had to take him to the hospital and he still is seeking treatment for some of the tropical diseases he got while in Bolivia. I would call AGFD and the USFS and get the rules from them. No trapping on public land as far as I know. Might be better off finding a remote lake that has fish and live off the fish and crayfish.

What insurance do you use?
CouesWhitetail replied to Eagle mountain ranch's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
If you are worried about your insurance company not being aligned with your values, you should give CWT sponsor Luke Adams a call.....he is a sponsor here and can take care of your insurance needs. Luke is Duwane Adams (who co-wrote a book on how to hunt coues deer) son and he has a passion for hunting. Why not get your insurance from someone that shares your passion? Give Luke a call. http://www.agentlukeadams.com/ -

Locked bucks, One alive and one eaten?
CouesWhitetail replied to CouesPursuit's topic in The Campfire
I imagine they locked up alive and then one buck died and was scavenged by avian scavengers like turkey vultures, crows, ravens, eagles. That's what a carcass looks like when they pick it clean and I have seen it happen within a few hours, not days. Neat video, thanks for sharing it! -
Excellent!! Love the "as they lay" pic!

CouesWhitetail replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Javelina
And since the hunt was over Valentines day we had some very special food that night and the ladies and mentors found several heart-shaped items during the hunt. Here is Carl with several he found. And the ladies also enjoyed seeing other wildlife and beautiful scenery during the hunt. -

Just saw a cool intro to a show on PBS (channel 8) about a guy who spent 6 years with a mule deer herd. Should be interesting and it's on right now (7 pm).
