Thanks for the explanation Snapshot. It is my hope you continue to participate in the CWT forum. Sorry you felt the need to remove your content, that was never my intention. and I completely agree with your statement below! It's always been my wish that people could be more civil when dealing with opinions different than their own. "There are other members here who should consider a more civil path when people post something they don't agree with, rather than resorting to open hostility and name calling. Things can become toxic when one member pushes another too far. There are other entities that can ruin a website other than Political posts. It comes down to how people respond." fyi, I believe the forum does allow you to delete your own topics, but only if someone hasn't replied to them. Once others are involved in the discussion it doesn't let you remove the original post in the thread because then you would be deleting other members comments in addition to your own. -
For those wondering....This camp is designed to provide a safe and fun hunting experience for women who want to learn to hunt. Our target audience is adult women with 0-4 years hunting experience. Sometimes we get ladies who have not only never hunted, but they have NEVER camped!! Our goal is to recruit more hunters. Many women have expressed a desire to hunt, but were never given the opportunity to learn how. We provide them with mentors, food and all the equipment needed for the weekend hunt. The grant pays for the food, portojohns and insurance required to hold this camp. Everything else is done through donations and hardworking volunteers who give up their valuable free time to come help at this camp. We can always use more volunteers, so if you are looking for a great event to support, let me know and we can find a way for you to help. We hold the camp in Units 36A,B,C during the HAM hunt. It means a lot to the women who attend it and our volunteer mentors find it to be a very rewarding experience. you can read some recaps of the past hunts here: http://www.coueswhitetail.com/forums/topic/38497-womens-javelina-ham-hunt-2013-recaps/ http://www.coueswhitetail.com/forums/topic/48422-2014-womens-javelina-camp-a-great-success/ For this year's camp info: http://www.coueswhitetail.com/2014/07/womens-javelina-camp-2015/

Political Discussions request
CouesWhitetail replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Ok.....let's not rehash an already closed thread.....let's move on people.....now I am going to lock this thread too as it seems to be getting off topic. If you want to keep arguing over oneshot or dustin's comments in that prior thread, you can PM them. Both of those guys can obviously take a punch, so I am sure they would be happy to clarify any statements they made or beliefs they hold if you contact them privately. -
Political Discussions request
CouesWhitetail posted a topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Hey All, I just wanted to remind everyone that the political subforum was originally intended for political discussions related to hunting. This is, afterall, a hunting related website and I would like to see the political subforum get back to topics related to hunting. I am hoping you guys will help me with that. FYI, with all the subforums, there is a little description underneath them that describes the intent of the subforum. For the political subforum, that description is "This forum is for discussion politics related to hunting". Let's see if we can stick to that. Thank you! Amanda -
You do not have to leave the tendorloins with the gutless method! You just make an incision near the spine and reach in and cut or grab them out. It's pretty simple. And you can even decide to take the heart and liver after you are done with removing all the meat. What the gutless method does is let you handle all the meat without risk of cutting open any organs. If you decide you want heart and liver, then you can open body cavity and remove them.

Wow, this is great info! Thanks for taking the time to make this post. I didn't even realize you could do that. Thanks again!

Cleaning a deer is just like cleaning anything else, so one thing I recommend for people who want experience is to go cottontail rabbit hunting or jackrabbit hunting. You can get a lot of experience that way. The gutless method is the best! Definitely watch the videos and don't be afraid to just try it yourself if you can't get someone to show you. The only real concern about cleaning an animal (besides cutting yourself badly, please be very careful!) is that you try not to puncture internal organs like the intestines, bladder and stomach. But even if you do, you can clean that up and remove tainted meat and still have a great bunch of meat. The nice thing about the gutless method is you never have to handle any of the organs. It's so much easier. Just try and remember at the end to cut along the spine and reach in to tear out the tenderloins. Hopefully the videos show that.

Yesterday was the beginning of a long road to recovery....I am glad she is moving forward with this as her knee problems were keeping her from doing what she loved. I wish Ilene the best recovery possible!!

Thanks for your post Gino....I hate to seem any meat wasted, let's hope some take you up on your offer to find old meat a good home. For those that can't meet up with Gino or Dale, remember there are wildlife rehabilitation centers in AZ that can use extra game meat for the critters they care for. -
I was recently contacted by AGFD to see if I could help them find the owner of a trail camera that was found by a hiker and turned into the USFS. If you had a camera out in the Mt Bigelow area, you might want to check and see if it's still there. If not, send me and email with the make and model and location where you camera was and I can pass the info to AGFD so they can get the camera back to you.

Political Discussions request

While I fully resepect your vision and you know I have been supporter of this site for a few years. I just have to say, the people that gave you reports that they dont visit as often because of the political section??? I have to call BS on that. They are NOT being honest with you or themsleves. There are 70 sub-forums on CWT.com, they are free to click on whatever sections they want. I dont think I have ever checked-out the Buffalo hunting forum or the outfitter section in all the years I have been a member... This is my choice... Bottom line is this is YOUR web-site Amanda and YOU make the rules. It is The MEMBERS who, for better or worse, make it the way it is. Go to most any other outdoor web-site, view the comments and you will find CWT.com stands way above the pack in terms of respect given to all, from the newest members to the old timers. This is a function of your work Amanda, and the Admins you have. But a higher result is also due to the Members and their willingness to share their thoughts and experences, in a respectfull manner( for the most part, there have been personal attacks that get shut-down quickly) You can't please everyone and nor should you try. You have given us a site and frame-work where not only the members can share their outdoor adventures, but also ask questions to folks that share a common passion, questions about everything from unit info to whats for diner. They may not like the answer, or they may disagree with it, but again, that is Life... In my opinion, CWT.com is by far the BEST outdoor site out there, so many sub-forums covering all types of wildlife, core members with 1000's of years of experence, in the field and in Life.... Thank You again Amanda, Admins and Members for making CWT.com what it is... The BEST site on the Web... Thank you for your kind comments, I appreciate them and I appreciate your contributions to the site. As to calling BS on other people, you might understand their point of view better if you knew they used the "View New Content" button. That displays a list of all topics that are active (meaning new posts have been added). And so in order to see which active threads they want to read, they have to review all the topic titles. And with many of the political topics, there are lots of replies to them, which means they are continually brought to the top of the View New Content list. So when people see threads related to politics over and over in the View New Content, they get tired of it. So yes, while people can choose not to open them, they can't really ignore the titles and often those titles are very inflammatory and designed to get attention, so they are very hard to ignore. -

Unless you don't want to bake a gay wedding cake. LOL!! That whole issue with the cake gets me whipped up!! I can't believe they don't have the right to refuse them! But I guess that has nothing to do with hunting, so I will just keep quiet.... -

Thanks to everyone for your feedback. I appreciate where you all are coming from, both pro and con. And just for clarification, my intent was not to "ban" non-hunting politics, but just remind people what the original intent of that subforum was and try to refocus our efforts in that regard. There will always be non-hunting related politics that are going to be discussed here. I am not really planning to start removing non-hunting political talk unless it just seems to get overwhelming. I assumed a gentle reminder about the original intent of that subforum would suffice. Lately it seems that the political section has gotten so far removed from the purpose of this website, which is to provide a positive place where hunters can gather and discuss hunting and related issues. I also want this website to be a place that unites hunters rather than dividing them and it seems many political discussions can be divisive. I get many reports of people who don't enjoy visiting the forum anymore because of the almost constant political discussions that have nothing to do with hunting. And personally I find that even I don't want to visit as often because of all the non-stop politics. So I can sympathize with the people who have told me the same thing. I have been thinking about this for quite some time now, probably more than a year. It's never been part of my vision for CouesWhitetail.com to become a place for non-stop politics unrelated to hunting. It just doesn't seem to fit with my core goals for the site. I find it hard to believe that there are not better websites where hot button political issues are discussed more in depth. I appreciate that many people are passionate about all politics, but it's just not my passion and it's never been a goal for this forum to have so much world politics. Most people come here to discuss hunting. And no, I didn't delete anyone's content in this subforum. I see that Snapshot went through and removed his content, apparently in protest, although he hasn't spoken to me about it (even though I invited him to call me to discuss this before going public with my request). Of course now that Snapshot removed his content, I will likely have to go through and clean up the subforum so it doesn't contain a bunch of threads with no content. I find it disappointing that he did that since he is a long-time member of this site, but it's his choice. I imagine he is equally disappointed in my request to refocus the political section on hunting related discussions. I can't be all things to all people and in the end I have to go with my vision for the site. Snapshot, you are still welcome to call me, even if you just want to tell me how wrong I am. You have my number.
