Thanks for all the Birthday wishes!! It was a good day, made special by several people Normally on my birthday we celebrate by going camping on San Carlos and listening to bugling elk, but with the crazy weather we opted to postpone that trip. Hopefully we will get out there soon.

*Bull Elk Blessing from donated tag, oh wait... aka Casey's favortism conspiracy theory post.
CouesWhitetail replied to hoghntr's topic in Elk Hunting
Wow, so much drama. For those worried about how the tags get allocated to wounded vets, please call Eddy Corona and talk with him directly about how he allocates tags that are donated to his organization, Outdoor Experience 4 All. Eddy is a good friend of mine and I know he is happy to talk with anyone at anytime about this or anything else about his organization (OE4A). His cell number is 480-529-8340. I am locking this thread so we can just move on. Please if you have issues with an organization, call and deal with them directly. Offer to help improve the organization if you think it needs changing. Be the change you wish to see. And if you have a problem with another member, deal with it directly with them. Bashing each other in the forum is just completely unproductive. -
Yes, let's hear the survival story!

AZ SCI requesting help to clear out a youth camp area on BANWR
CouesWhitetail posted a topic in Conservation Group Events
Hi All, Bobby Boido with AZ Safari Club International is requesting help clearing out some mesquite on the Buenos Aires Wildlife Refuge on Oct 20. They are working with the Refuge Manager to create a special place where youth camps and other conservation groups can have a dedicated place to camp for their event. All mesquite cut down can be hauled home free for fire wood. Contact Bobby Boido at 520-490-8367 to get details on where they are meeting. -

My friend has been up there since before the rains. She said the sun is out shining today for the first time in 5 days. The pics of the roads she sent don't look bad. As has been said, for the most part the roads are well built and drain well. Most of the snow has melted off the roads.

Sorry to hear so many continue to dislike the new forum layout. Trust me, I would have left it the same if I could have, but much like you can't keep the same old version of Windows forever due to security issues, I had to upgrade the software. I put it off for a year more than I should have. So we are just gonna have to live with it. Although some of you say you are spending less time here, the number of new topics, posts, reactions, and new users continues to increase. So it seems most people are adjusting and figuring out how it all works. The only thing I can offer for those that don't like the format is to try the different themes (aka skins) and find one that you like better than others. The theme I use as a default theme now has almost the same color pattern as the old one and the posting and view new content works almost identically. I am not sure what it is that bothers some people as it seems to function just like the old one to me, it just looks a little different. The more specific you can be about your issue, the easier it is for me to customize the layout to match what people want. Delw...thanks so much for the idea about converting to PNG format. I will try that!! hopefully it will solve that ad problem. I wonder why it wasn't a problem with the older version of this forum software?

Coues "movement" during the day
CouesWhitetail replied to mrodri30's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
They often go to water at mid-day (11 am to 1 pm), although it seems they do that more during the summer than winter. But they definitely move the most at dawn and dusk. I have sat waiting on bedded bucks to come out of cover for many hours....from when they bedded in late morning until dark. Often I find they don't get up until just before the very last shooting light of the day. You will think it's impossible that they could still be in that same clump of bushes you saw them go into hours prior. Years ago, a member (Shortypants, I think) had a quote that I often think of...."coues deer are always where you last saw them" and it's true more often than not for sure. Rifle hunting Coues is definitely not like hunting elk. You spend a lot more time sitting and glassing and waiting than you do stalking. When I elk hunt I cover many miles everyday, when hunting Coues the majority of my hiking is done just getting to the glassing spot. Patience is key. -
Awesome! thanks for sharing your hunt with us!
