    no shot bird hunting

Devil Diver Down....I had a similar experience on a duck hunt once. Jumped some ducks on a pond, was following with my shotgun when they banked and I heard a strange pop and down falls a duck. Apparently when he turned he clipped his wings on another bird and that spun him out of control. I retrieved the duck...no shot necessary! LOL!

    **CATEPILLARS/cocoon pic 9/7**MOTHS RELEASED!***

My husband told me the other day that he couldn't believe no one had started a post about all the caterpillars. He says they are swarming all over in Superior. I have only seen a few. I never knew about them being sound sensitive....cool...gonna have to try that out!

    DOVE SEASON

Big Browns....do you eat the pigeons? I imagine the Eurasion Collared Doves are good eating, but never thought about the regular pigeons.
  8. Awesome pics! And thanks for the reminder....yes, please take the time to put your carcass somewhere away from camping areas and other public places. And try not to throw stuff in dumpsters either....AGFD gets lots of calls when the public finds carcasses in dumpters, the public generally assumes it's illegally taken wildlife. Besides leaving it in the woods helps the scavengers.

    2 way Radios

Thanks for the info AZshtr.....I have looked at the Yeasu radios also, but like the lower price of the Baofengs and lots of HAM radio people say they are very good for the price.

    2 way Radios

I have yet to find really good two way radios. but here are some radios I am considering. They are HAM radios but super well reviewed and reasonably priced. You can program them to use repeaters in the area you are hunting and thereby get really good range. Anyone have experience with these? http://www.amazon.com/Baofeng-UV5R-136-174-400-480-Dual-Band/dp/B007H4VT7A/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1409591141&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=baofeng+uv+5r

What browser are you using? You might try a different browser. Awhile back when Internet Explorer changed, the browser seemed to not work well with the forum software....it didn't let you copy and paste. But using a different browser worked fine. You might try using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox and see if that fixes the problem.

Repairing hiking boot with Mcnett seam grip

Just an update....this repair has held up perfectly! We have done lots of hiking in steep, rocky and even very wet terrain during the last three weeks. In fact the other side of that boot blew out, but not the recently sealed side. This stuff is awesome!
  24. I recently noticed the seam sealant peeling off my old backpacking tent and so I purchased some Seam Grip made by McNett. I quickly realized this product is good for all kinds of repairs and I just used it to fix my husband's hiking boots that had a blow out in the front side of one of the boots. The boot had separated from the sole creating a hole that was several inches long. Sorry I didn't take any pics before I did the repair, but I added yellow arrows to the photo to show the area where the rip was. Basically the boot material was completely separated from the sole for the entire length outlined by the arrows. I cleaned the boot and then started applying the Seam Grip (which I think is every similar to Shoe Goo, which I didn't have at the time). Because it was too hard to clamp this rip together, I just kept adding Seam Grip and letting it dry for a 1/2 hour or so before applying more and letting it dry and then eventually I had built it up enough so it would seal the entire rip. If I had used some sort of patching material, then I wouldn't have had to keep applying the seam grip. But without a patch, the seam grip wouldn't form a bridge right away because before it dries it is too liquid to stay in place over a gap. After drying overnight, i am super impressed with the seal and material. It seems like a great fix that will last a long time. I might even be able to repair some of my old danners with this stuff. I will repost after my husband hikes some miles in this boot and let ya'll know how well it holds up. The nice thing about this Seam Grip is it can be used to repair almost anything! Tarps, tents, canvas, boots, rain gear, backpacks, etc. Some people tell me they use it to coat the bottom of their backpacks to make them more water resistant and protect them from rocks. Some people use the stuff to form a protective toe on boots that don't have one so that the boots last longer. The possibilities are endless.
