What should my name be?
CouesWhitetail replied to azcouesandelk's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I voted for azscoutII since your scout is a great rig and unusual....how long do you think you will have the Scout? If it's not long for this world, then maybe not a great choice to base your name on it... Amanda -
I posted the map today on the ADA site, here is the link: http://www.azdeer.org/unit_36_2006.htm

Good news! I just found out that as administrator of the forum I can edit user names without you having to change accounts. So if you have a name you want changed, let me know. This way you can keep your posting stats rather than losing them. The other option is to keep your user name (the one you log in with) and change the display name. With the latest upgrades of the software they have two different types of names, a user name and display name. The display name is the one the public sees, the user name is the one that you log in with. Amanda

Birthday Girl
CouesWhitetail replied to azpackhorse's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Thanks for all the birthday wishes!! It sure is nice to be appreciated around here I had a great bday! You guys have heard of the 12 days of Christmas? Well my husband always does the something like the 12 days of Birthday for me, so I get lots of little notes or gifts leading up to my birthday!! Very fun! We usually also go camping for my bday on the San Carlos and listen to elk bugling, but I haven't gotten to do that yet, maybe later this week or next.... Thanks again. Amanda -
Nice pics! Love the one of the doe nursing her fawn. Thanks for sharing your scouting trips with us! Good luck on your dad's hunt. Amanda

Nice job. Amazing how "giving it one more try" frequently results in success! Wish I was out elk hunting.... Amanda

I have a badlands 2200 and it's comfortable, but I find I often wish it was a bit larger so it would be easier to stuff like bulky jackets in when you get hot. So I would go with the 2800 if you go with badlands. Amanda

Well, some of you may have noticed Lark hasn't been around much. He emailed me this morning to ask me to post some pics for him. He has been in Colorado hunting Antelope. Says he got this one 30 miles east of Colorado springs and it's got 14.5 inch horns that are very heavy. He is headed back to CO in a couple weeks and has lots of hunting lined up for the fall.

CouesWhitetail replied to COOSEFAN's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Very nice video Jim! You know if you want I can post a better version of it in the video clip section on this site. Just send it to me on DVD, we should be able to post it so it's not so fuzzy. Amanda -

Coues Deer Celebration video!!
CouesWhitetail posted a topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Hi Guys, I created another short video that is a collection of some great photos from the website set to music. I tried to put in as many hunters and deer as I could, and I got about 150 photos packed into the 6 minute video. Big bucks, small bucks, archery hunters, muzzleloader, rifle, youth hunters...I tried to get everything in. It's hard because everytime I think I am done, I see more photos to put in. I still can't get everyone in, but it's a pretty good selection on bucks and hunters. Watch the video and let me know if you like it. It's the second video listed in the video clip gallery. Amanda -
Volunteer opportunities for hunters
CouesWhitetail replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Wildlife Projects
Don't forget, there is still time to help out on these projects! Amanda -
Volunteer opportunities for hunters By Sandy Reith, volunteer coordinator, Arizona Game and Fish Department The Arizona Game and Fish Department’s volunteer program provides opportunities for volunteers to participate firsthand in managing Arizona’s wildlife resources. Our goal is to provide you with a congenial and cooperative atmosphere where you can build relationships with staff and other volunteers, and gain knowledge about Arizona wildlife and wildlife management. We recognize that your time is important and strive to provide rewarding and educational volunteer experiences. We’ve listed some opportunities below that we think you might find interesting. To learn about other opportunities or to submit information about a project that would benefit from our volunteers, check our volunteer page. Ongoing project: rebuilding water catchments in Game Management Unit 9 Volunteers are needed to help rebuild a number of water catchments in Game Management Unit 9 to raise the storage capacity from 2,000 gallons to 20,000 gallons. Work will include lots of manual labor plus some welding and fiberglass work. Department employees will oversee the projects. We will camp near the work site. Work will be conducted on the following weekends: September 9-10, October 7-8 and October 14-15. If volunteers can work during the week, we may be able to arrange a work schedule. Contact John Goodwin at the Arizona Game and Fish Department Flagstaff regional office by phone at (928) 774-5045 or by e-mail at jgoodwin@azgfd.gov, or contact Arizona Game and Fish Department Volunteer Coordinator Sandy Reith at (602) 789-3680. Ongoing project: habitat restoration for pronghorn and grassland birds Volunteers will be using loppers and hand saws to thin juniper south of Mormon Lake at Mud Lake, on Forest Road 82 (Kinnikinick Lake Road). Dates are Sept. 23 and Oct. 14, both at 8:30 a.m. Contact Rick Miller (rmiller@azgfd.gov) or Andi Rogers (arogers@azgfd.gov) at (928) 774-5045, or contact Arizona Game and Fish Department Volunteer Coordinator Sandy Reith at (602) 789-3680. Ongoing project: range safety officers needed at Ben Avery Shooting Facility Responsibilities include checking the safe condition of customer firearms, observing participants while they are shooting on the range, maintaining safe operation of the shooting line, and providing superior customer service by answering customer questions about firearms. Volunteers shoot for free at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility. Contact Arizona Game and Fish Department Volunteer Coordinator Sandy Reith at (602) 789-3680.

Coues Deer Celebration video!!
CouesWhitetail replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Glad you guys enjoy the video! It is amazing to see how many photos there are on CW.com and the diversity of people that visit the site and make this a great place by sending in such interesting photos! Some day I will probably make a "monsters of Coueswhitetail.com" with a collection of some of the largest or funkiest looking bucks on the site. I think that would be pretty amazing. Keep taking those great photos and sending them in!! Amanda -
Nice story Jeff.... I hope you get a chance to go after that buck again! Very nice video too, that's cool that you are able to post a link like that. If you want to email me the clip I can put it in our video gallery here on CW.com if you want. For those of you that didn't notice, you can click on the filmstrip looking photo in his post and it opens the video. Cool! Amanda

I have been with game wardens on ride alongs when they have cited ATV'ers that had their children on the back of the quad. I think it's illegal to ride two people on a quad unless it is a two person quad. Why don't you call the local game warden and ask them? That way you can get a feel for if or how they might enforce that rule in the area you will be in. Amanda

What kind of binos do you have? I sell the adapters that Jim White makes and most of them run $20-$30 and are excellent. But it makes a difference what binos you have. Amanda

Hey Buddy, can you spare some change?
CouesWhitetail replied to az4life's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
AZ4life, Sorry to hear you have to pull up stakes, but it sure sounds like you will have a great adventure in WY. Like Scottyboy said, there is some great wildlife and hunting up there! And don't forget, the nice thing about the internet is the forum can go with you anywhere! So you can still visit us and post your WY adventures! Amanda
