  3. Hi All, If you know a woman interested in learning about outdoor activities, consider buying her a weekend at the Becoming an Outdoors Woman camp. The one in February is held near phoenix and has nicer accomodations than the one in the spring or fall. I will be teaching classes on Arizona Wildlife and Desert Hunting. But there are lots and lots of other classes and activities. Classes include canoeing, kayaking, hiking, photography, flyfishing, outdoor cooking, predator calling and lots of others. I have attached a PDF of the registration materials and there is a press release with info below. If anyone has questions, let me know. I have been involved with this program for years. The ladies have a great time and we have lots of great instructors. Amanda BOW_DELUXE_2006_Registration_Packet.pdf Becoming an Outdoors Woman Deluxe This retreat will make an ideal Christmas gift for the discriminating woman in your life. Lots of outdoor fun without the inconveniences of camping! The Arizona Wildlife Federation will be sponsoring its second annual winter Becoming an Outdoors Woman (BOW) workshop. The dates are February 2-4, 2006. It will be in the Goldfield Mountain Range. This retreat will showcase the beauty and wonder of our Sonoran Desert. The place is Saguaro Lake Ranch, which is a historical resort style retreat located in the Tonto National Forest in the heart of the Arizona Sonoran desert. The banks of the Salt River are a fly rod cast away and Stewart Mountain Dam, which backs up Saguaro Lake, is a short walk. There will numerous fishing opportunities for beginning and intermediate anglers, including bass fishing with Bass pro Chad Witty, bow fishing with World Class Archer Kathy Green, beginning fishing with AZ Game & Fish, and intermediate fly fishing with the Desert Fly Casters. The Arizona Audubon Society will be there pointing out a variety of birds, both winter visitors and native species. We’ve planned sessions on hunting desert critters like javelina and Coues deer, a varmint call stand, field archery, natural history of the desert, canoeing & kayaking, and dutch oven cooking. For those who feel the need to explore the Goldfields, there will be hiking, photography, and trick, track, trail Sonoran style. There will also be horseback rides for everyone. We are working on evening activities that include cowboy singing around the campfire, a presentation on bats, wine tasting and wildlife bingo. The cost is $420, which includes a horseback ride, instruction, program materials, use of equipment, deluxe lodging and meals Friday evening through Sunday noon. Details of class descriptions can be found at www.azwildlife.org or call 480-644-0077. You can also email Tracy at hockeymom329@cox.net anytime. Tracy Unmacht Arizona Deluxe BOW Coordinator

Welcome to the site Carl! And congrats on your deer! Don't forget that if you want photos posted in the main photogallery of CW.com, rather than just in the forum, you have to email them to me with the hunter names and hunt info to go with it. Amanda

    Javelina meat Donation?

I'm with you Treestandman, javelina meat is very good. Glad you found some! Maybe we need to start a list of people who like the meat so those that aren't into it can donate it to someone who will love it? Amanda

    Doug at Cameraland

Cameraland is a sponsor of CouesWhitetail.com and I have only heard great things about his service. Here is a link to another thread where some people posted comments about buying stuff from him. http://forums.coueswhitetail.com/forums/in...?showtopic=4539 I really think you would be very well off buying from Doug. 12. AGFD has asked me to post this announcement about their budget. I haven't yet reviewed the proposed budget, but AGFD is very concerned about a shortfall of funding habitat projects and employee raises. AGFD is asking hunters to contact state legislators and to attend a hearing at the legislature. That meeting is Jan 12, so time is short. Please read the attached file for further information. GIANT 150+ buck killed in Sonora

That buck over on Monstermuleys is a different buck than I am referring to. That 160 buck was posted here but the thread turned into a very ugly name calling fest. So I had to pull that thread. There are only a few rules in this forum. One is to not badmouth anyone in the forum and another is to not post material that you don't have permission to post. Many people are picky about when and how the pictures are posted. So if you don't have permission to post something please don't. If you are not familiar with the posting guidelines of this forum, please read them over by clicking on BOARD GUIDELINES which is shown on the left side of the main forum page directly under the banner of this forum. Or you can click on the link pasted into this topic below. http://forums.coueswhitetail.com/forums/in...?act=boardrules Thanks. Amanda

    Photoshop

For making digiscoping pics sharper with photoshop, it's best to use the Unsharp mask, which is under Filter and then under Sharpen. I also use the Enhance features such as Adjust color and Adjust lighting. You can use Auto Smart Fix, but many times it changes the pic in a way you don't want. You get more control under the individual color and lighting settings. I use photoshop elements to clean up all photos that are submittted to me. It's a cheaper program than the full version of Photoshop, but it's got most of the features people want for fixing pics. Of course the picasa program that someone posted a link to is free and probably a good product. Amanda

GIANT 150+ buck killed in Sonora

There was a giant 150+ buck with a drop tine killed in Mexico and that was posted in the forum a week or so ago. I yanked it because the outfitter who guided the hunter to that buck doesn't want it posted just yet. They are working on a DVD of that buck and some others and just don't want to promote it just yet. You guys will get to see plenty of it on the DVD. They got some footage during scouting trips and the hunt. Should be great. Amanda

    AGFD announcement regarding budget

Here is the contact info for the AGFD person who sent out the budget flyer and asked me to post it to help spread the word. Give him a call or send him an email and ask him for more details if would like to learn more about this. I don't know him personally, but I imagine he will gladly answer questions. Big lion track

Sure looks like a canid track to me. PRED8R posted an excellent link that gives a good overview of how to tell a canid track from a felid track. Drawing an "X" through the pad is a great way to distinguish them. You can use that method to see that your track is a canid while the photo hunter4life posted looks like a felid. I have added a mtn lion track with a bullet next to it, a bobcat track with a quarter next to it, and a photo of a dog track in the mud for your comparison. Amanda

    Pentax Gameseeker 6x42 Riflescope

For those of you that don't know Doug, he is with CameraLand, one of our sponsors. They sell cameras and optics at good prices and provide excellent service. This testing program is another example of how CameraLand values it's customers. Please make sure you give honest reviews and return the equipment according to the simple rules Doug has for this program. I think is a great added feature for members of this forum. Thank you Doug.
