Arizona Deer Association Banquet
CouesWhitetail replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Ok, I will go ahead and buy another table. I have nine so far. Allen - 3 Jeff - 1 Mike Fabritz - 1 Christian - 1 Coosefan - 2 Peloncillo - 1 Since it's getting so close to the banquet, I am going to have them leave the tickets at the door for you. But could you guys please send me money for the tickets you want (at $60 each). email me and I will give you my mailing address for sending a check. Tables are $900, so with ten people paying $60 each I am subsidizing it by $300 per table. Sorry I can't fund the whole thing for you guys. And we have one more seat, any takers? Amanda -
Just an FYI - You can narrow down the search quite a bit so that you don't get every post with the word in it. If you click on the more search options listed under the search box you get a lot more options. And when you open that more search options box up, it will have another link to "more options" on the bottom and you can search only titles or text within a post and you can narrow it down by the user name or by date and other things. I would be glad to get us a 2nd CouesWhitetail.com table if we have enough people. Allen, are you still in for 3? If so, then we would have : Allen - 3 Jeff - 1 Christian - 1 Coosefan - 2 Peloncillo - 1 That's eight people. Anyone else? It would be nice to fill a table of 10. Amanda -
When you are searching for info on something, remember you can use the search function (upper right hand side of forum, below banner) to find out if it has been discussed in the past. here is a link to a previous thread about boots: http://forums.coueswhitetail.com/forums/in...?showtopic=4195 Danners are a strong favorite around here. I bought a pair after getting advice on the forum and I loved them! Unfortunately, they stopped making the one I liked (in women's anyway...). Mine sprung a leak and I sent them back to Danner and instead of fixing them, they gave them away before telling me that they discontinued them! That was the most comfortable boot I have ever had! I got another pair of danners, but they are heavily insulated and too hot for most hiking. Amanda

Anyone sending me $250 can have one! I figure three reviewers is enough for now. Doug, Allen and Jeff have been supporting this website for a long time and they are also well qualified to do the reviews. Sorry I can't send out one to everyone. But keep in mind that anything you buy from me can be returned for a refund if you don't like it (assuming it's still in great condition). So that is essentially like having a policy where people can try anything out and decide if they like it enough to keep it. Amanda

Doug, How about I send you a tripler to test out? I am sending one to Desertbull too and so we should have three good reviews up here. Also, again, I would like to say that the tripler is not a spotting scope and I don't consider it to replace the value of having a spotting scope. It's an alternative to a spotting scope. The image size and light transmission aren't comparable to a high-end spotting scope. The value of the JW tripler comes for those that don't want to pay for or lug around a full-size spotting scope, but want a way to get a little more power from their binos. If you are looking to cut wait for a backpack hunt, this is a great way to do it. Perhaps if Allen (or Jeff or Doug) has access to a swaro doubler, he could do a comparison between the doubler and tripler. I think what really needs to be in an evaluation is to go out and find a buck and then see if the tripler gives you enough detail to help you decide if you want to hike over there to kill it. I think you will find the tripler will work best on bucks that are less than 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile away. Whereas a full-size spotter will give you the ability to evaluate bucks farther away. But I haven't done a full evaluation of the tripler since I ended up giving mine away to the guide in Mexico. I really look forward to seeing what you guys think of it. Amanda

I look forward to your review Allen! I used the tripler and think it's very good. Much better than the swaro doubler. I put it on my swaro 15s and my zeiss 10x's and it worked on both. It is made to fit on just about any bino. I really can't imagine anyone not likely this product. It will never take the place of a full size spotting scope, but it's excellent as a small, lightweight option to give you extra power from your binos. Amanda

My 2007 Mexico Hunt
CouesWhitetail replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Mexico
Thanks guys for all the nice comments! It sure was a great time. Ernesto and Beth were great to hunt with and hang out with. Thanks to them for coming along with me! Ernesto gave up his javelina hunt just to go along with us. He was a great help. Anyone wanting to see Beth's buck, should come to the AZ Deer Association banquet April 7. She is going to be sitting at the CouesWhitetail.com table and will be bringing her buck. I am going to officially score it (have only green scored it so far) that night before the banquet. It is so amazing....it's really a great animal and Beth will probably be very happy to show it to you guys. www.azdeer.org for more info. Oh and the guides Temo and Javier will be there also, so anyone interested in talking to them about their hunts, that would be a great time to meet them. And of course you can bid on their donated hunt that night also. And Josh, I know what you mean about that score. I think it's the narrow spread that hurts it so much. And a somewhat weak 3rd on his right side. But dang, it's a way cool and beautiful buck! You will have to check it out next time you are here.... Amanda -
I was up on Mt Lemmon last night and it rained for hours and then turned to snow in the wee hrs of the morning. We woke up to about an inch and a half of snow on the ground and then it proceeded to start snowing again for another hour or so! Great stuff! My brother-in-law and sister-in-law were visiting from Maine and hoping to get away from cold weather...so far all it has done is snow and rain on them! That seems to happen whenever they come to visit, so I asked them if they could please come back out next month...and the next month...and the next month... Here is a pic of some of the snow this morning.

Treestandman, I agree with you that the swaro doubler is too dark and practically useless. I have used the swaro doubler and wouldn't spend a penny on it. However, the tripler is much brighter and I think a very worthwhile option. It's not as great as a large spotting scope, but it's very good. I will talk to Jim and see if we can get some samples out for people to try out and post a review of it. Amanda

Nice job Jennifer!! Amanda

Cool!! Great finds Neo! I recently found a laser sight for a pistol that still worked just fine. Amazing how long some stuff can lay in the sun and still work! Amanda

Backpack hunting is a perfect application for the tripler....it's so lightweight and yet gives you some extra power should you need it. I took my tripler down to Mexico with me and the guide liked it so much I ended up giving it to him as part of his tip. Amanda

good point about getting a good tripod....the new velbon sherpas are great, sturdy tripods. You can see them (and purchase one if you like) in the CW.com store.... http://www.coueswhitetail.com/bookstore/tripods_adaptor.htm Amanda

I would save for the swaro 15's. That's what I use and they are great. Before buying the swaros, I rented a pair of leica 10-15x50's. I didn't like them. So it made my decision a lot easier. But several people on this site love their Leica variable power 10-15's. So it's definitely personal preference. I suggest you find a shop that has both binos and see which you like. Outdoorsmans might have them. Or you can rent them like I did from Ross Outdoors. That way you can hike around with them and test them in the field. http://rossoutdoors.com/catalog/ I disagree that if you get the swaro 15s that you won't need a spotting scope to evaluate bucks. I guess it depends on how much "evaluating" you really need. Are you worried about knowing the bucks estimated score or just seeing how many tines he has? The more picky you are, the more you need the extra power of a spotter to evaluate a buck. Another option is to get the swaro 15s and then perhaps get the Jim White tripler. The JW tripler is a lightweight, lower cost alternative to having a full size spotting scope. Amanda

Nice cat.... What did you tree him in? Doesn't look like there is much around there....or did you get him on a ledge? Amanda

Well, I figured we would wait and let a few more people guess the score....anyone else want to take a stab at a gross score on this buck? And maybe Peloncillo will give us the story on the buck. Amanda

Josh, Darren is right...you wear an orange shirt alot....check out the pages in the ellsworth/epperson shed collection gallery....like page 1.... http://www.coueswhitetail.com/ellsworth_co..._collection.htm or maybe like page 2.....or page 3.... http://www.coueswhitetail.com/ellsworth_co...ellsworth_3.htm But it's ok, it's an orange shirt, but not the same one, so you must have a collection of them Amanda

Keith is also donating one of those chocolate labs to be auctioned off at the AZ Deer Association banquet on April 7. So if anyone is looking for a pup AND wants to help raise money for wildlife, might be a great way to get a dog..... Amanda
