    MINOX 15X58's vs SWARO 15X56's

The velbon sherpa is an excellent tripod. It's what I use for my 15x56 swaros (which I love ). I also use the sherpa for video taping because it's very steady and adjustable. For a tripod head, it depends on what you want. For glassing I think the Jim White tripod head is excellent. It is not as good for video taping. I have a bogen fluid head for that. Amanda

    Fire pics

Nice pics. here is a link to some video I took of the Molino Basin fire the other day. Based on the smoke plume, it's not as big a fire as the one you photographed. Molino Basin Fire

    saw another sticker

Well, I was at sportsmans warehouse in Tucson today, but I think it was more like 1130. But I was in my maroon jeep, not a green truck. Got to see the wife of a member that was working there. Seems like I can't go to a Sportsman's warehouse without bumping into someone from the website! Amanda

I think the settings are such now that you guys can pretty much upload anything and have lots of photos in your posts. However, if you can, please resize images so they are not big files that will help with space management on the server. If anyone still is having trouble uploading photos, let me know. Since you posted a pic of a bear track, I figured you might enjoy this one. Amanda

    life in the jungle

Hi All, I was out the other day and saw a really pretty black and white dragonfly (or more correctly it's called a skimmer). Here are a couple photos of it: Well, as I was watching this skimmer, it took off and starting flying around and just then a green darner (a much larger dragonfly) swooped by and snatched it in mid-air. It flew around with it trying to subdue it before it landed on a juniper branch and proceeded to devour the black and white skimmer head first. The darner let me walk right up to it and snap some picks while it ate the other insect. I could hear all the crunching noises as it ate it. I guess that's life in the jungle...one minute your a gorgeous bug doing your thing and 30 seconds later your head is missing.....it was pretty dramatic to watch. Amanda

a couple new videos I made

Hi All, Well you guys know I have been enjoying making videos of the owls that I research. I use a technique called mousing which allows you to put a mouse out in front of a male (usually it's the male) and then he takes the mouse to his mate or young. Great way to find the nest or young. Anyway, I confirmed a couple young the other day on Mt Lemmon which was nice since most of the owls seem to not be breeding this year. (I think some of them tried to nest and they failed when that snowstorm hit back in April up there). Anyway, here is the latest video. I call it "when owls dream". I suppose if owls could dream they would dream of successful hunts..... Http://www.coueswhitetail.com/video_clips/..._owls_dream.wmv Oh and for those that didn't see the first owl video, here is the link to one I made earlier this summer: 1st version http://www.coueswhitetail.com/video_clips/...music_video.wmv I also put together a flower video earlier this summer which is a collection of photos which my husband and I have taken. Many of the photos are from this year. This is a very relaxing video, so if you are stressed out (perhaps from thinking about all the changes proposed to the hunting seasons......), this is a great way to unwind. http://www.coueswhitetail.com/video_clips/...ideo_june_3.wmv Enjoy! Ok, try loading two again. It should take it. I left the single image limit at 2MB and did unlimited per post. So you should be able to upload more than one 2MB file. But really you should try and keep file sizes down. I recommend Adobe Photoshop elements. They have an easy save for web feature which makes it easy to size down for posting on the web. I imagine there is some windows picture program that will do it that comes free with most computers also. I generally size mine down to roughly 800x600 which is about the size of most screens. When you post an image that is 2000x2000 it's bigger than any computer screen can view anyway. Most people have 1024 pixels or less on screen size. Amanda

It is 3 bar. I went and volunteered on a deer drive out there this past spring. That's why all those people are lined out inside the fence. Amanda

Ok, I talked to Gamehauler and apparently down by where you add an attachment when you make a post (by the browse and upload buttons) his reads max single upload size is 100 KB. On mine it says 2 MB. What does it say on other people's? Hopefully IPB tech support can figure out what setting is wrong here. Amanda

I have watched golden eagles dive bombing javelina before. I think they were trying to grab the young ones. They didn't get any, but it was neat to watch. Amanda

here is the link to 10 mouse captures at full speed. 10 captures happen in 1 minute! In some of the scenes you can see me put the mouse down and watch how fast the owl comes in. Doesn't usually happen so fast but with that one owl it's almost impossible to get out of the video frame before he grabs the mouse. He is deadly on those little mice! Full speed owl video Enjoy! Alpine/Greer area cabins???

Well, I have only fished Becker in July and it's been great and haven't noticed a big weed problem. It certainly is warmer down at Becker than those higher lakes that Bill mentioned. I just fished Sunrise the other day and we caught some nice trout which we had for dinner tonight! Go catch some big ones Scottyboy and grill them up for your wife! here is a pic from our fishing trip at Becker last year during the monsoons. It can get interesting trying to kick your way back to shore in a float tube when the lightning is moving in on you! Amanda
