Found this rack this morning (actually my husband saw it first! Thanks husband!). It's got 6 inch eyeguards and decent mass at the bases. Didn't get many measurements since the mosquitoes were relentless and it was tough enough to stand still for a photo with it! It has a few kickers on each side and although you might not be able to tell from the photos it had little nubs at the bottom on the main beams where the ends turn up which would have become double drop tines! This was about a 6 year old buck based on the jaw that was nearby. as it lay....

I don't know if I can get top posters for a particular month, but I can check and see. I know the software tracks top posters for the day and for the forum for its entirety (sp?). Amanda -

Jim's book is great for quesitons like this one and many others. I encourage everyone to pick up a copy and read it. Go to his website to order a copy. I think I forgot to mention that age has a bit to do with it also, since the buck has to get old enough to have a mature body before putting in extra energy into larger antlers and some of the genes don't express themselves until the buck is older. Amanda

That is quite a collection we got going here! Amanda

Some nontypical points are related to genetics, such as droptines and palmation. Other nontypical formations, like some bumps or bent tines or double main beams are generally due to injury to the antlers in velvet. You can also get nontypical formations due to injuries on the body and frequently they will show up on the opposite side. For example if he injuries his back left leg, his right antler may show abnormal growth. Cactus bucks grow without shedding due to a lack of testosterone, which can be caused by injury to the testicles. Amanda

The beer glasses would probably be around 5 bucks each. I think it would be pretty neat if we had a collection of them with different bucks on them. Also, if anyone wants to design a tshirt or something, feel free to come up with a design. It just has to be 300 dpi resolution so it won't get blurry. Amanda -

CouesWhitetail posted a topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Check out this link to get the hunt recommendations and see meeting locations and dates. This stuff will be voted on at the Aug 11 Commission meeting in Flagstaff. http://www.azgfd.gov/h_f/hunt_guidelines.shtml Amanda here is some of the text from that AGFD page. Please note the PDF files didn't link up, but you can go to the AGFD link shown above and download the PDF's. Also, some of you might be interested in seeing what other hunters wrote in for comments on the regulations. AGFD has published all those written comments in a PDF. Interesting read. Proposed Hunt Guidelines for Fall 2008-Spring 2010 The proposed hunt guidelines that will govern season structures and permitting for hunting seasons during fall 2008 through spring 2010 will also come before the Arizona Game and Fish Commission for consideration during its Aug. 11 meeting in Flagstaff at the Radisson Woodlands Hotel at 1175 W. Route 66. By clicking on the following links, you may view or download the final proposal [pdf, 1.8mb] regarding guidelines [pdf, 107kb], or view the comments from public meetings [pdf, 654kb] or written comments [pdf, 6.5mb] provided to the Department. -

You are right GameHauler, there are lots more costs, but those a just some that I mentioned. And certainly I should make a lot more for putting up with Dirk D. Anyway, thanks to those who donate! Amanda -

I upgraded the forum hosting. For those that are wondering, it cost me $431 for a year. That's just for hosting the forum. The main web page is hosted with another company because they provide more space, but they couldn't keep the forum stable, so I had to move it about a year ago. I think I may have to implement limits on attachment sizes again. Thanks to those that generously donate. I appreciate it! Those free stickers I send out cost me about $1000 a year, but I would hate to have to start charging for those since it seems a great way for everyone to connect in the field and advertise the site. Another cost is the corporate tables that we do at the ADA banquet. This year I bought two tables and although I charge people the ticket price to help offset some of the cost, the tables actually cost more than that and so it's another $600 or so in expenses. Thanks Tony for doing an auction at your party. Sounds like a nice idea! Amanda -

I've read Craig Childs' "The Secret Knowledge of Water" I found it to be a very interesting, enjoyable and informative book. It's well worth the time to read. Amanda
