  1. LOL Bobbyo! That is too funny (and I am sure true for many hunters!)! Some very good ideas in this thread. I like the dry firing idea. I haven't done that in a hunting situation, but I sure can see how it would be helpful. Amanda

    BOW camp

hehehehe, peeing on a rock is pretty stupid!! too much splashing.... and how on earth is a woman going to pee on a tree anyway???? I am going to have to find out who recommended that one and give them some grief! hehehe in all seriousness though, these BOW camps are GREAT and I have been teaching classes there on hunting and wildlife for years. We just had a camp up in Prescott with 100 women. It was a great event. Any of you guys see the article about BOW in the recent AZ Highways magazine? It was a good one. Amanda
  5. As a wildlife biologist, I find hunter survey cards a useful tool for managing game species. I always fill out my hunter card accurately and honestly. I don't see how boycotting those survey cards is helpful to anyone. I do however think instituting mandatory reporting for all hunts is something that we should push harder for. Amanda

  17. No, there isn't currently a separate section for women. That's something we might add in the future, but we have so few women coues deer hunters, that I am not sure we can do a separate section. So right now, women are more than welcome to enter the contest just as the guys do. Amanda

    Another opening day trophy

Yes, I know Mark! He is a big supporter of the Becoming an Outdoorswoman program that I teach classes at. Mark has been teaching classes at those workshops since they were started. I don't think he has missed a single one (that's twice a year for something like 16-20 years!). That's some real dedication! Mark called me to tell me about his antelope the day he killed it! What a joy to be able to share a moment like that with him Congratulations Mark! Amanda

Great buck! Hey, you know if you haven't done it already, you can donate your kaibab tag to Hunt of a lifetime. That would be one heck of a donation!! 25. Information needed to solve deer poaching News Media Aug 30, 2007 FLAGSTAFF -- The Arizona Game and Fish Department is asking for the public's help in finding a poacher that killed a mule deer doe on Aug. 24 or 25, along Lake Mary Road south of Mormon Lake. The poaching occurred about one mile south of the Kinnikinick Lake turnoff near milepost 319. The deer was shot with a high caliber rifle and left in the field to waste. A field investigation found that the female deer had been nursing newborn fawns. The poaching took place during the opening weekend of archery deer season and probably occurred in the evening of the 24th or the early morning hours of the 25th. "This is a blatant example of poachers' disrespect for wildlife, and the laws and seasons that are established to protect our wildlife resources," said Larry Phoenix, Game and Fish field supervisor. "We are asking the public to help us catch the poacher. If you were in the area recently, please think back about anything you might have seen or heard, or any conversations you might have had. Maybe someone doesn't realize he or she has the key to solving this case. Poaching of wildlife is considered a major loss for the residents of Arizona and our wildlife resources." Anyone with information about this poaching incident can call the department's Operation Game Thief hotline toll free at (800) 352-0700. Callers may be eligible for a reward up to $250 in this case. All calls may remain confidential upon request.
