Here is a link to the page with his wife's deer on it. http://www.coueswhitetail.com/az_rifle_hun...es_rifle_19.htm And I remember using that buck in one of the first Coues deer celebration videos I made. It's always nice to see pics of successful female coues hunters!! Thanks for sending in her pic years ago. Amanda -

Realization of how lucky we are all.
CouesWhitetail replied to firstcoueswas80's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Good reminder Casey! I frequently am thankful for being able to hunt the harsh terrain that Coues love. I was very thankful on my backpack hunt that I was healthy enough to go where I wanted and needed to go. A friend of mine was in a bad car accident a year ago and she was in a coma for quite awhile. The doctors gave her about zero chance to come out of it, and yet she did AND she is now able to walk a little, which is amazing. Her mind seems perfectly intact, but her body has some catching up to do. That's coming very slowly. She was a very active athlete before the accident and it's amazing what a moment of tragedy can do to a person. I am truly thankful for my health! Amanda -

CouesWhitetail.com seat cushion?
CouesWhitetail posted a topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Check this stadium seat out. Might be good cushion for glassing. It's got 1.5 inches of foam, but it's covered in vinyl rather than canvas, so might puncture on sharp rocks. Anyone ever use these kinds of stadium cushions for glassing? http://www.customink.com/designs/cushion1/...p;cm_ite=design The design is by Rembrant and is of Josh's buck from this year when it was in velvet. LOVE that design! I think the hunter orange is good so you don't leave it behind. Would you guys buy this? I have to order 50 of them if I get any at all.....That's a lot of inventory to carry! here is a link to the recipe section of this website: http://www.coueswhitetail.com/recipes.htm You can use the ones by me, Linda Dightmon and Tim Wilhite. And I bet you can use Marlon's and Casey's also, but you have to get their permission. Amanda

nice finds Neo!! I found a few sheds on my WT hunt, but nothing spectacular. But here is my favorite find (although not a shed, it's a skull) from this past summer. If I remember right, he was pushing 105. Amanda

How far from roads? Picture for your time
CouesWhitetail replied to 300 ultra mag's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
I think distance from a reliable water source in good habitat is more important in consistently finding Coues rather than distance from roads. Hunting pressure on Coues is not nearly as heavy out here as it for many species out in CO, though at times I think we are moving that way. here is a link to a page about what makes good coues habitat: http://www.coueswhitetail.com/coues_biolog...eer_habitat.htm Amanda -
Hey Neo, take a look at antlerdogs avatar. He just happens to know a thing or two about shed hunting..... Me, I am not an avid shed hunter. I just find them as I am doing other stuff. Amanda

Average day?Peak of the Rut?
CouesWhitetail replied to 300 ultra mag's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
I would say the first two weeks of Jan are pretty close to peak in AZ. The farther north you go, the earlier the peak. When I hunt down in Sonora, Mexico, peak seems to be at the very end of January. here is a link to the biology page on this site that has a chart showing times of the various life stages of the coues deer based on research by AGFD in the Santa Rita mtns. They found peak to be in Jan. http://www.coueswhitetail.com/coues_biology/life_stages.htm And as to your question of how many deer you see during the rut, it's a tough one to answer because it depends on where you are hunting and how you are hunting. If you are in an area of high coues deer density, there maybe 6-12 deer per square mile. And you certainly don't see all the deer in a given square mile. But if you are glassing a 2-3 square miles you might see 25 deer. Or you could be doing well to see 3 bucks in a square mile. Depends on deer activity, amount of vegetation cover, and the method you are using to find the deer. Amanda -
Congratulations to you and your dad! Thanks for the writeup, it's great to be able to "go along with you". Amanda

Hi All, When we announced the Coues buck contest and prizes, I mentioned that Ron Sega of AZ Guns Etc in Chandler was making a donation to the contest (Leupold rifle scope and range finder). In addition to that, he was offering all CouesWhitetail.com members a 12% discount on all accessories as well as $25 off any guns purchased at his store. Has anyone taking a trip to his store? What did you think? Did you get anything? I would really like to see some members benefitting from this offer and also to see Ron get some business after making such a generous donation to the contest. Ron provides some great service with customizing guns as well as just about anything you need for your guns. Ron has been in business for 20 years in Chandler, AZ (near Alma School and Warner). Go visit his store and see what he can do for you! give him a call, he is easy to talk to. 480-963-4311 Or visit his website: http://www.azgunsetc.net/home_.html I think he must have more stuff in his store than is listed on his website, so if you don't see what you want online, give him a call and see if he has it in stock or can get it for you. CouesWhitetail.com seat cushion?
CouesWhitetail replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Interesting idea, but I doubt I could find someone to make it that way (vinyl and canvas). I will keep looking into it. I just love that design and the whole story that goes with Josh's buck! Amanda -
If you had posted a few days ago, you could have had mine, but I already gave it to a friend. Sorry! I still have a couple in my freezer my mexico, but haven't decided what I am going to do with them. If I decide to give them away, I will keep you in mind! Amanda
