Yea...very funny guys. Just what I want, to be an administrator and attend meetings for the rest of my life! I think it's interesting to note how the dept has grown so much during his tenure and yet it sure doesn't seem that we have many more wildlife managers in the field. I wonder how much of that growth is administrative personnel vs field personnel. And did you notice that almost all the accomplishments listed were for nongame or endangered species? Wonder why they don't tout any big game successes. Amanda

Thanks for the advice. I am debating the merits of Hog casings vs. collagen casings (made from cow skin). Sounds like the collagens are more uniform, a bit stronger and easier to use. Do you freeze your sausage stuffed in hog casings or do those type of casings not hold up to freezing well? I have read they can get real weak after freezing. Have you tried collagen casings? Amanda

Merry Christmas! I hope everyone has a great holiday season and I wish the best for you and your families. I thought maybe we could start a thread posting family christmas photos if you have them. We recently took the dogs to a fundraiser where they were taking photos with santa or a christmas tree and donating money raised to the local animal shelter. Here is the pic with our old dog (Molly next to me) and our new young dog (Julie next to my husband). Merry Christmas from my family to yours! Let's see some more family photos! Amanda

Carp is just a name for mule deer that is used by Whitetail hunters to be a bit snobby and elitist about our love for the amazing Coues deer. I don't know if it's because carp are not considered desireable fish (although in Europe they are highly-prized and the equivalent of our trout in terms of popularity) or if because carp are bottom feeders. I assume it refers to the less-desirable aspect. Anyway, someone here (Coueshunter, I think) once said it's just the same old "Ford vs Chevy" way of poking fun and being competitive. here is a bumper sticker I made up long ago. It still cracks me up!! Amanda

Wow younghunter, that is quite an accomplishment. I don't keep track, but have often wished I did. Maybe this year. I actually have been thinking that I wanted to set a goal of spending at least 150 nights a year camping out somewhere. So daytrips going scouting or hunting wouldn't count on that goal. I think would be a tough goal to meet. Since I am a biologist though and I am doing tons of fieldwork and hunting, I might actually be already close to that. Not sure. Amanda
