    Sick deer

I would agree that rabies is a possibility. Rabies can affect any mammal. Call AGFD and inform them about what you saw. There are also some other diseases that cause drooling and foaming of the mouth in deer, like bluetongue and adenovirus hemorrhagic disease. http://www.dfw.state.or.us/wildlife/diseases/andevirus/ I will email Jim H. and ask him to weigh in on this. He may know more about what it's most likely to be. Amanda

    Red Rabbit

I think today would have been his first day back out after the holidays. He hadn't seen anything big yet. He did say something about spotting a mountain lion the other day. Only got a brief look at it. He was going to hit it hard 'til the end of the season. He's got some CW.com'ers going down to help him out. I hope he tags a nice one! Amanda

    Hard Decision???

Put your money into the one you think you will use the most. My guess is that you use your binoculars to glass most of the time and would only occassionally use a spotter. Get the swaro's...... Amanda

    Line In The Sand

Thanks for posting the article Tony, I only just saw it today. Obviously the line in the sand depends on what each person/culture thinks is appropriate. I know personally I am still in it "for the beauty of nature and the thrill of the hunt". That's one reason I really enjoy backpack hunts, so I can really get out there and spend time enjoying it. 16. Well, you guys have pushed us up higher than I remember the site being ranked before. Nice work! I might be remembering wrong, so someone please correct me if we have been higher than 19 before (ranking is always displayed in the little green box at the bottom of all the pages on the site). But I think it's pretty cool to be ranked so high. By the way, the ranking is based on the average number of visitors over the last 5 days. It's a ranking of the top big game sites on the net. They call it the top 100 but actually they only display the top 100 and many more than that are in the ranking. So it's pretty rewarding to be in the top 20 of all big game hunting sites on the 'net especially when you consider that Coues deer only occur in a very small region of the world! Amanda

    New to Forum

Stalker, Welcome to the forum! How are you hunting them in the pines? Are you stalking them (as your name suggests) or are you in a treestand or groundblind? Amanda
  18. I agree with you on that one Casey, although it's not one species, it's one SUB-species - even more amazing! Thanks Marlon!!! Amanda
  19. Well, in order to get in the top 10 we would have to get average visitation up to over 2500 unique visitors per day. That's not really likely to happen. The ranking is based on the average number of unique visitors over the last 5 days. Our avg number of visitors fluctuates from 700-900 a day. Most visitation to this site happens during the week and it drops appreciably on the weekend. So if the last 5 day avg includes the weekend days it will be lower than if it is just M-Fri. (If only the counter took into the account the number of times each visitor came back to this site during each day! Wow, then Gamehauler would propel us into the top 10 no problem ) If you want to help boost the ranking of this site, you need to go find more people to become coues obsessed fanatics who can't live without the site! One thing that hundreds of you have done to help with visitation to the site is to put those large CouesWhitetail.com stickers on your vehicles. I hear from lots of people who say they heard about the site because they saw a sticker! http://www.coueswhitetail.com/bookstore/stickers.htm And of course the reason that people love the site once they get here is because there is always something interesting to read and look at either on the main site or the forum. So when you guys post all your interesting hunt trips and photos, info on equipment, etc you are really helping make this a great place for hunters to spend time. Thank you! Amanda

Congratulations to you both and her buck sure does look like it has a big body on it! Amanda
  23. Hi All, Every year the local archaelogical park does an evening where they put out hundreds of luminarias out on the walls of an indian ruin. The ruins are fairly large and in some cases have been reconstructed a bit to look like what they suspect they were before time took it's toll on them. It's a maze of walls and rooms and the park puts out hot cider, and has live music and bonfires for everyone. It's a really neat event and we went there last night to try and get some photos of it. But of course before we could go there, my husband made my dad and I go watch the full moon rise (it's just something my husband loves to do! and I like it too really). It was a great moonrise and then we went over and tried to get some pics of the Besh-ba-gowah park. Here are some pics. It's a great event for this time of year!
