Congratulations and I am glad the shot worked out! And many thanks to SCI and all the volunteers who run this camp! If you have a youth hunter with a tag down in those units, that's a great camp to attend!

The small "prosumer" drones like the one I have (phantom 2) are just not very useful for scouting. As Mattys281 mentioned battery life is very limited....mine is about 20 mins total, and you have to get it back to you before the battery gets to low or it autolands wherever it is. So generally you are flying less than 10 mins out and less than 10 mins back. Climbing a hill and glassing is way more productive for scouting. I use mine for fun and aerial video, but it's pretty much useless as a scouting tool. You would have to buy a super high end drone to get anything useful for scouting and I can't see that happening for enough hunters to make a difference. Mine is a ton of fun though!

Been on vacation in NH and Maine this past week and as you can imagine that isn't good for weight loss! Scale says I gained three pounds! Wow! (Hopefully some of that is just water weight due to eating salty foods.) But we had a ton of great family meals including amazing seafood and an early Thanksgiving. Time to get back to eating healthy food and smaller portions!

Venison Sausage stuffed zucchini
CouesWhitetail replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Cooking Wild Foods
Glad you enjoyed it!! Looks great! -
Well, I have posted this meal before, but I can't help posting again. It's so good! Whenever someone gives us some zucchini, this is what I make! This time I did a couple things different, but it's pretty similar to the last few times. Since it's so dang hot I grilled the zucchini instead of baking in oven. Slice zucchini in half, scoop out seeds to make room for stuffing and place on aluminum foil on grill. Bake on grill at at 350 to 400 degrees until tender (usually 45 mins to an hour depending on size of zucchini and heat of grill). I fry up the sausage and veggies while the zucchini is cooking. I use homemade Coues buck Italian fennel sausage and fry it with some peppers, onions and spinach. When zucchini is done, I fill them with the sausage and veggie mix. Then top with grated cheese of whatever type you like. Normally I use Monterrey Jack and top with parmesan to brown in oven. But this time we just shredded some cheddar cheese we had. Yummy and healthy!

I added a new feature to the forum that is called Member Map. Look for those words under the forum banner and click on it. It should pull up a google map and it will show other members locations. Look for the button that lets you add your location. If you don't want to use your exact address, you can just enter the street name and the city and state. If you enter just city/state it will likely be covered by another members' icon, so streets help separate out the icons. You can edit your location at anytime also.

Yes...you can use google earth offline.... But when hunting I like to use an app on my droid phone called back country navigator pro.....as with other map apps, you download the maps to your phone before you go and can use them while hunting....they have a ton of map types you can use...this is a great app
