ADA Hunting Clinic
CouesWhitetail replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Yes, it's not great timing, but it is what we were able to get. In addition to the speakers and vendors and youth stuff, we will be raffling off a beautiful yellow lab puppy at the clinic (thanks KGAINES)! -

TJ and I were out at the three bar early this morning. Nicole and another grad student (John) and a technician were out there also. We checked the radio signals on about 20 does and 15 fawns. All were alive and well, so we didn't have to go find the carcass and determine cause of death. Also, no new fawns were born this morning so we didn't get to go chase them down and put a collar on them. However, it was still a very nice morning. If anyone wants to go out there and help on the project. You can just show up or call in advance. If you just show up, you can meet at the three bar cabin the night before or at the intersection of 188 and three bar road at 0430 any morning. We were done relatively early this morning, but it depending on the births and mortality, they sometimes work until about 1030 am. I think TJ wil be camped at Cholla campground until Tuesday and he is going out in the mornings to check radios with Nicole. So if you want, you can meet up with him also. I think another guy from the site is going tomorrow am also. here are some pics of TJ doing the radio telemetry. Notice the shirt!! (oh and sorry my camera takes crummy pics in low light....I had to lighten these up so you could see anything). couple uncollared mulies out and about during the predawn: and some sunrise pics

Anything? nope, hopefully soon.....sorry for the wait. Amanda -
I think perhaps the rules Redbeard posted are out of date? I think this is the latest list of things you can't do if you want to enter something into Boone and Crockett recordbook. For the purpose of entry into the Boone and Crockett Club’s® records, North American big game harvested by the use of the following methods or under the following conditions are ineligible: I. Spotting or herding game from the air, followed by landing in its vicinity for the purpose of pursuit and shooting; II. Herding or chasing with the aid of any motorized equipment; III. Use of electronic communication devices to guide hunters to game, artificial lighting, electronic light intensifying devices (night vision optics), sights with built-in electronic range-finding capabilities, thermal imaging equipment, electronic game calls or cameras/timers/motion tracking devices that transmit images and other information to the hunter; IV. Confined by artificial barriers, including escape-proof fenced enclosures; V. Transplanted for the purpose of commercial shooting; VI. By the use of traps or pharmaceuticals; VII. While swimming, helpless in deep snow, or helpless in any other natural or artificial medium; VIII. On another hunter’s license; IX. Not in full compliance with the game laws or regulations of the federal government or of any state, province, territory, or tribal council on reservations or tribal lands; I think the part about the cameras refers to cameras that send an image immediately to you when an animal is there. I don't think general game camera use is prohibited. Amanda

My favorite line in this thread so far!!!

This is an interesting thread. Thanks for all who are presenting good arguments (and humor) on both sides. Personally, I use radios on some hunts and not on others. If I think I want to enter an animal in the book, then I don't use the radios. But I find them very useful while hunting. In fact I used them for awhile (rather unsuccessfully) before I even knew it was against fair chase rules. Before radios, it was all hand signals. I am sure you all have been out there trying to interpret hand signals and know how that can get very confusing and frustrating.....even after you spend a bunch of time agreeing on what each signal means before you go! Hi Tracy, I have been in Denver on business a few times. If you have an afternoon or evening, you can hit several sites. If you want a little exercise there is a place called something like the Rocky mtn arsenal. Despite it's name, it's a refuge of sorts that has some trails you can walk and a lot of wetlands where you can look at ducks. It's a great place to unwind after meetings. Then there is the museum of natural history and the museum of art which are both excellent. As for a place to visit on Sunday, perhaps Estes Park would be doable. I think it's not far from Denver and has great elk watching and hiking. Amanda

I agree, it's better without that circle. Thanks for the suggestion on that. Thanks Chef also for your help with designing this one! I will be emailing an invoice to everyone in this thread who wanted a shirt. If you don't get an invoice by tonight, let me know. Shipping and tax will be on the invoice. shirts are $20 each. After I give everyone who preordered a chance to pay their invoice, then I will open up orders to general public. Shirts should come in to me by Aug 19, then I will start mailing them out to you guys. Amanda -

There have been several issues with the design due to having adult and youth sizes in the order. Still working those out. But they still say they will have the shirts to me by aug 19. I hope to have the next proof today to review. Amanda -

The top 100 hunting sites counter isn't working quite right the past couple weeks. We were high up, but I don't think we were really #10. Right now it says something like #26 and we are actually #18 currently. I like it better when it reads too high rather than too low! Hopefully they will fix it so it's right. If you ever want to know, just click on that icon and look for us on the list on the first page. Amanda -
Guess you don't need me anymore to tell you where it is. Yes, it's nice in there. Haven't been back in years, but holds some nice memories for me. That picture makes an excellent banner, don't you think? Amanda
