    Long Sleeve Shirts are in!!

Did you have one on for her to see while you were at the P.O.? Actually, I had to repackage a couple boxes because she noticed I was using the flat rate box when it wasn't necessary. So when I repackaged them, she saw the shirts. So not only did she save me money on shipping, she ordered some shirts! How cool is that? Amanda

    Long Sleeve Shirts are in!!

I sent out a jillion shirts today. I had two large boxes full of packages to send out. Took like 15-20 mins for the PO lady just to process them! And guess what? She actually wanted to buy two shirts! HA! Didn't think I would be selling more shirts at the Post office! She wants to get them for the grandkids who love to hunt! Amanda

Guess How many posts in July

And the winners are......... azhunter23 and clay price and jham357 The actual number of posts in July was 4014. Azhunter23 got it exactly and clay guessed 4010. I went ahead and extended it to three winners since jham357 guessed 4009! The rest of the guesses were off by quite a bit. I have attached a graph that shows the number of posts in the forum over time. I think the record was Aug last year, with 4552 posts. Congrats to the winners! Please email me with your size and color choice and mailing address. If I don't have that in stock you might have to choose a back up for it. Amanda

    Nichols Guiding Service

Hello All, I am starting a new section in the forum to highlight our sponsors. Each month I will do a write-up about a sponsor to help provide you all with more information about them. Please remember to support those businesses that support CouesWhitetail.com. This month we are starting with........ Nichols Guiding Service Jarred Nichols has been a full-time, year-round outfitter for 16 years now. He has a group of about 10 guys that guide for him and they are all family and friends, so this is a dedicated, close-knit business. They guide for Coues deer, mountain lion, elk, bear, antelope and bighorn sheep in Arizona. They tend to have from 10-20 plus hunters a year as clients. Unlike many other outfitters, they do a lot of lion hunting, so if you are looking to get a lion in addition to other big game, give Jarred a call. They specialize in hunting lions on dry ground without any need for snow. They have an excellent string of riding and packing mules that they use to travel the canyons, bluffs and ridges while looking for lion tracks. Nichols Guiding Service can provide fully outfitted hunts or just the guiding service, it’s up to the hunter. Jarred says “On our outfitted hunts we provide camps that can range from wall tents to travel trailers, our ranch house is in unit 23 and we hunt directly out of it. We also have several other ranch houses that our good friends let us use depending on the unit. We provide all meals, and we eat extremely well, for example dutch oven roast and potatoes one night, then steaks with beans, salad, garlic bread and a cold beer the next. We also provide transportation on the hunt, hunting guide, cleaning and packing out of game, along with trophy prep.” They guide archery hunters as well as rifle hunters. They have mules available for packing in and out of areas. They really only guide in Arizona, although he is licensed in NM as well. No Mexico hunts either. He says he finds the Mexico Coues hunt conflicts with prime lion hunting in AZ. So their real focus is on hunting in Arizona. Whether you are looking for a big trophy, or just a good, representative animal, Jarred will match the hunt to what you want. “We have had many hunters take record book animals over the years. We always strive to have our hunters take the best quality animals we can find. Some of our best to date include a Coues deer at 126”, an archery Bull at 411”, a Lion with a skull at 15 6/16”and a bear with a skull at 21 7/16”. However, some of the most memorable hunts have been watching youngsters on his or her first hunt enjoying every second of the trip or with hunters that could care less about a record book.” Success rates are very high with their clients. Here are some photos of some nice animals taken. There are many more photos on their website. Rick with his 105 inch Coues Hogan with his Nov. muzzleload bull, score about 380 (looks bigger to me!) James with his 165Lb 15" tom Jarred’s son Max and my brother’s boy Bryan with his bear Jarred’s son Max holding the antlers from their 2007 Oct. Coues hunt “Our goal on our hunts is to be very honest with each and every hunter, not guarantee them that they will kill a 120” Coues or a 400” bull just so they will book. We will give it a 100% on each hunt to locate the best animal we can take. To keep a full time outfitting business running it is very important that we take quality animals year after year. We want everyone to enjoy their hunt from start to finish and hopefully take home that trophy they have been looking for and come back and hunt with us again sometime down the road.” You can check out their website and view some of the animals their hunters have taken at www.nicholsguidingservice.com . If you have any questions you can email or call. Since they are out scouting or hunting a lot, it might take them a day or two to get back to you. Ask them for a list of references from previous clients. For more information, contact: Jarred Nichols Email: nicholsguiding@mchsi.com Phone: 480-987-8244 www.nicholsguidingservice.com

    Long Sleeve CW.com shirt

Ok. So here is the design and it will have CouesWhitetail.com down the sleeve also. And when I order, I can get many different colors, but I won't be able to carry all sizes of all colors most of the time. So....if you want a particular color and size, let me know now and then I can order it at the same time as the others for the same price. There are about 6 colors that seem ok to me. Three of them have sizes ranging from Youth small up to adult 2XL. Sorry to all you big guys out there, but these long sleeve shirts don't seem to come in 3XL. here is a link to the sizing chart. Click on the some lettering in that link to see youth sizes. http://www.customink.com/items/sizing/0610...up/standard.htm The three colors with youth sizes include : Ash, Orange, and white here are the links for those three colors. white: http://www.customink.com/designs/white/883...p;cm_ite=design orange: http://www.customink.com/designs/orange/88...p;cm_ite=design Ash: http://www.customink.com/designs/ash2/8839...p;cm_ite=design The next three colors do not have youth sizes in them but range from adult S to 2XL. I'm out

Thanks for the info Bill. Sounds like a pretty good system with those flashcards. And i think a lot of people not just in Africa, think that baiting and shooting animals at waterholes is unethical. Amanda

Guesses can be over or under the actual. It's just the two people who get closest who win a shirt. Someone has already guessed it exactly! Wow, imagine the odds on that! Amanda

Here are a couple pics I took through my spotting scope during the lunar eclipse several months ago. I just hand hold mine (no adapter), so they are not as clear as yours, but I still like trying it.

    ADA Hunting Clinic

Yes, when we did it those dates people complained it was too close to archery elk season. In fact some of our speakers had to pack up and head out to get to their hunting camps that night. We have to wait to do it after the draw and try and fit it in before the seasons start, but the perfect dates are not always available at the chosen venue. Amanda
  16. Hey Guys, The AZ Deer Association will be hosting a deer hunting clinic on Aug 23 from noon to 4 pm at Phx mtn preserve, 1431 E. Dunlap, Phoenix, Arizona. Anyone planning to go? Should be a good time. Jim Heffelfinger will be there to speak on deer ecology. I am planning to go and help out as well as to sell DVDs and shirts there. So if you ordered a long sleeve shirt, I should have them by then and you can pick it up there to save on shipping. http://www.azdeer.org for more info Amanda

    Trail cam pictures

get a big external harddrive. They are not all that expensive and save hundreds of GB of data. Of course, you might want to have a backup drive also. One of my externals crashed with a lot of my video projects on it, including many of the Coues Celeb videos! ouch! Amanda

    ADA Hunting Clinic

Thanks for the feedback runningbird. By the way, the ADA is always looking for volunteers to help with this clinic (as well as other events). So anyone that is interested and has ideas about improving it is welcome to sign up to help organize it. Just email me or go to the ADA website and email the president to find out more about how to get involved. Amanda

    ADA Hunting Clinic

When you run any event of this size, you can't always get it on the date you want. When you book a venue, they give you only so many dates to choose from. There are always constraints and so you take the date that works best given all circumstances. This is just the way it worked out this year. It's not some big statement against archers. We have dedicated archery hunters on our board of directors. Normally we have held this event on a weeknight and we thought it might make it easier to attend if instead of being at night we moved to a Sat morning. Unfortunately, that Sat was during archery deer....I am sure it won't be that way next year. Amanda

    Three Bar deer study

Hey guys, I reported to you previously about the Three Bar mule deer study. The graduate student that is working on the project is looking for volunteers to come out and help locate, capture and collar MD fawns. Anyone interested should contact her directly to schedule a time. Might be nice to go as a group to help and have fun. Perhaps Aug 9-10 or Aug 16-17 would be good weekends for this? here is her contact info. Nicole Tatman cell: 505.720.0489 email: ntatman@gmail.com To read about the project, here is the link to the trip report I did on my last visit out there: http://forums.coueswhitetail.com/forums/in...ic=9169&hl= Come on, bring the family and dedicate a day or two to help on a wildlife project!!
