TAM didn't say Grong arrowed a buck, but that Grong sent him a photo of a buck. My guess is that it was someone else's deer. Amanda

    6:06 am TAGGED OUT!

Congrats on your buck! Not sure how you got in trouble with me for posting pics? You can post them here if you like. But if you want them posted in the photogallery you have to email them to me with the details. Otherwise they are only in the forum, which is fine if that's what you want. Amanda

    Wanted - Maps (36b)

You might look into buying National Geographic's TOPO! program. It costs about $100 but you get the entire state at five different levels, including 1:24,000 topo maps, which is what I find most useful. You can store all your waypoints in there from your hunts. It's a slick program and then you don't have to worry about getting maps every year for each hunt. You will already have the entire state. You can print a small map that shows the area you want to hunt rather than carrying around an entire topo map. It's seamless so you don't have to worry if your hunt area is at the corner of several topo maps. The maps don't have land ownership though, so it's best to supplement with USFS maps or some other map that shows ownership. Amanda

    Elk Scrape

BenBrown isn't just making that up. A scrape generally refers to the clearing of debris off the ground and scent marking there and a rub is on a tree caused by the elk or deer rubbing it's antlers against the tree. It's just a way to differentiate the two types of marks made during the breeding season. I imagine the terminology was made up by us egghead biologists.... It doesn't really matter what you call it as long as the people talking to you know what you are referring to. Amanda

    Heartbreak

Thanks for posting the tribute. I had heard the guy who died was a hunter, but it's great to hear more details about his passion for Coues. It's a tragic loss to the family and friends....my heart goes out to them. Amanda

    I'm out

Guys, A couple points I would like to make. Please remember that this forum is not to be used to bash anyone. I think Redbeard could have brought up this topic without bringing Randy into question. I am all for a productive discussion about ethics and all, but I would like to point out that Redbeard has said repeatedly that he is making assumptions about use of radios on this and other kills. Apparently Redbeard has some information on some hunts where radios were used, but that is a far cry from knowing that all or most of Randy's kills have been done by radio. I don't think we should assume that Randy hasn't done an archery kill by fair chase rules. I just want to caution everyone not to make statements that can be considered slander against someone in this forum. I have let this thread run because it seemed to me Redbeard was just trying to make a point and a productive discussion followed. However, please remember no one here has all the facts about all his hunts and let's not make broad statements that can hurt someone's reputation. From what I know of Randy is a great guy and an excellent hunter. Let's continue the discussion without attacking him (or Redbeard, or anyone else). Amanda
