Precautions in southern units

Nice job Lance! -
Yes, that's coral bean. It's a really neat plant!! The beans are poisonous as I understand it, but some people use them to make necklaces. I think the Apaches say those beans ward off evil/negative thoughts from others. Link to more info on the plant: http://www.fireflyforest.com/flowers/reds/red08.html here is a pic of the flower of that plant. I took this pic in the catalinas. Lots of them on the lower slopes there.

LOL! Funny stuff! Amanda -
Wow, that's a real bummer. To post video you have to upload it online somewhere and then post the link. Amanda

Amanda, I know a Paul from BTA I don't know if there is more than one Paul there. Is he the volunteer program coordinator? Just wondering. That's him!! How do you know him? Amanda I work for Az State Parks and he came and stayed in our campground last week. I talked to him on the phone and Email but did not get to meet him while he was here. Small World huh Thanks for hooking him up, he enjoyed his stay there! Amanda

the zeiss 15x45s are a very nice size, but they are a little dark since they are only 45. So they have a weakness in low light conditions. Amanda

There is a page of photos that I supplied for Duwane and Tony's "How to hunt Coues deer book". The photos are of some of the main browse species, but most of the photos are closeups and it may be hard for someone not familiar with the plants to ID them. Boyce thompson arboretum might be a good place actually. My husband works there. Ask for Paul when/if you go. I have always meant to make a section on deer foods on the main website, but just haven't done it yet. I think there are photos of deer food in Jim's book, Deer of the Southwest (if I am remembering right). Amanda

Hey if any of you are going by Timber Camp (south of Senecca, north of Globe) tomorrow afternoon or Sunday morning, my church has reserved the campground and I will be up there then. Stop by and say hi. Look for the Maroon jeep with the CouesWhitetail.com sticker! Outdoor church service at 10 am there on Sunday if anyone wants to stop by and pot luck lunch afterward. All are welcome of course. I am bringing my bow and doing some shooting. We stopped by up there tonight and it was fairly cool with some light rains moving through. Amanda

If it was me, I would call it done for the year if you think that buck is dead. If you think he survived, then go for it. It's a sickening feeling killing an animal and not retrieving it. I once shot a javelina with an arrow and never found it (even after taking dogs in there), but decided I wouldn't hunt another one since I thought I had killed it. Amanda

Bear Hunting on the San Carlos
CouesWhitetail replied to JLG's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I have seen quite a few mule deer on the res. don't know why they don't have a season. They currently reserve mulies for tribal member hunts only. Amanda -
I am looking to get a new scope, and looking to not spend a ton, so this is a great sounding option. TAM you mentioned that diff temp and altitudes change the POI. How much will it change? Suppose I set the turrets from data at 3500 ft and then I go hunt at 6500. How different will it be? Amanda

Not sure what you mean? I don't see an error. Shoot me an email with more details. I put the person who owns the antler in the first spot and then if it's a different person holding it, I mention that. Amanda

I wouldn't do it because the quality of the image is not nearly as good in a doubler as it is if you bought a pair of 30's. The light is cut way down and it's not as crisp an image. So I would think it just isn't worth it. Personally, I didn't like the quality of the image in the swaro doubler as a single unit much less doubling up on it. Amanda

Bear Hunting on the San Carlos
CouesWhitetail replied to JLG's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
San Carlos has changed their website several times in the last year, twice in just the last couple weeks, but here is one they posted on Aug 25 http://www.scatrwd.com/index.html Amanda -
Congrats Bowsniper! Pretty amazing you and your boy both got archery bucks this year! Don't forget to email me the pics and info to post in the archery photogallery, if you want. Amanda
