I wouldn't do it because the quality of the image is not nearly as good in a doubler as it is if you bought a pair of 30's. The light is cut way down and it's not as crisp an image. So I would think it just isn't worth it. Personally, I didn't like the quality of the image in the swaro doubler as a single unit much less doubling up on it. Amanda

Bear Hunting on the San Carlos
CouesWhitetail replied to JLG's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
San Carlos has changed their website several times in the last year, twice in just the last couple weeks, but here is one they posted on Aug 25 http://www.scatrwd.com/index.html Amanda -
Congrats Bowsniper! Pretty amazing you and your boy both got archery bucks this year! Don't forget to email me the pics and info to post in the archery photogallery, if you want. Amanda

hehehe, yes I see it's full again. Sorry about that, but if my inbox is full when you want to PM me, just send an email instead, or do that the first time and skip the PMs. AMANDA@COUESWHITETAIL.COM I actually prefer email to PMs since then I don't have to go in and delete them all.

MY BOOK IN CATALOG
CouesWhitetail replied to billrquimby's topic in Hunting and Outdoors-related books
No, I was going off what you told me....Jan or early Feb. Amanda -
Sorry to hear you didn't find him. It's got to be thoroughly depressing. See if you can't get a friend who has some experience tracking or perhaps a friend with a dog that likes to follow scent. What unit were you in? My dog julie could probably find the deer, but we are going out of town for a couple days tomorrow.... Amanda

Ok, thanks. I keep deleting and deleting and it fills up pretty quick. I have too many that I save for various reasons and it's tough to make enough space. Amanda

Very nice! Don't forget to send me the pics and hunt story info to post in the archery gallery! Amanda

Good question....I don't know the answer to that one. I think I would err on the side of waiting too long and letting him die so you can find him vs pushing him farther if he is still alive. Hopefully someone around here has some info on that meat spoilage time. I know I have seen summertime road kill deer that seemed to have been hit the afternoon before and the carcass/meat smelled fine the following morning (not that I ate it though!). I think at the ADA hunter clinic Mike Miller said something about being able to hang meat in 70 degree temps and it being fine in the shade. But that of course is with the hide off.... Anybody out here ever recovered a deer the next day and found the meat was fine? Amanda

Leaving deer attractant out
CouesWhitetail replied to greekassassin's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Well, I don't think anybody really removes most of the attractants (salt) that get put out. The salt leaches into the ground and stays there a long time. I don't think there is a law that you have to remove it, but call AGFD and ask them. Amanda -
What's your advice Amanda? I didn't mean to imply I had some other advice. I just meant I haven't personally experienced how well the 4 hr wait works on gut shot animals. I have just heard that is a good amount of time. So that is what I would do. Wait at least 4 hrs then search. If you can't find the blood trail, do ever widening circles in the area to look for sign. Taking a dog can help. Get friends to help and don't get too discouraged. It seems to me you hurt that buck badly since he bedded after 40 yards. My guess is he is already dead and it's just a matter of finding him. Amanda

I have heard 4 hours is good amount of time for gut shot elk/deer. I don't know how good that advice is though.... Did you have any luck finding him this evening? If you need help searching for him, I bet there is someone on here that would be willing and able to go. Just make a post if you can't find him again. Amanda

Scoutguard 550 trail cams are in!
CouesWhitetail replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in CouesWhitetail.com Store
I can't get the camo ones until sometime in Sept I think. Apparently scoutguard let one dealer control those for awhile, but that runs out in Sept (if I remember right). So I plan to carry them. They are a little more expensive though. And you can camo this one up with camo tape cheaper. But the camo ones do look really cool! Amanda -

Lets hear about your close calls
CouesWhitetail replied to IHunt2live's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Sounds like a hybrid to me then. Did you happen to get a photo of him? If so, look at the length of the gland on the outside of the rear leg. You can tell a lot about it's hybrid status by looking at that. here is a link to an article by Jim H re:hybrids so you can read more about them. http://www.coueswhitetail.com/coues_biology/hybrids.htm -
test upload to see if it's still working for me:

Don't know....sounds like it's not recognizing that you have selected the photo. So I would focus on different ways to select it. Maybe doubleclick on the file name a few times or hit enter instead of clicking. Did you happen to change any settings that affect your mouse lately? Like eliminating the need for double clicking or reassigning the left and right buttons? Amanda
