    Water Source

Deer need free standing water for drinking. There is probably a water source within a 1/4 mile of where you see the most deer. Sometimes the water sources are not on the map. I have found old mine addits that are holding water so if you have mines on the map, you might look around there for a water source. There also might be a pool of water in a creek somewhere that lasts year round. For more info on Coues, check the Coues Biology section of this website. http://www.coueswhitetail.com/coues_biolog...ues_biology.htm http://www.coueswhitetail.com/coues_biolog...eer_habitat.htm Amanda

    Crow hunting

You might want to let AGFD know about that kill in case there is any poaching involved in it. I assume it's wounding loss from the archery hunt, but you never know, they might be working a case in the area. Amanda

    You Catch Anything?

Wow, that's a real bummer. When I went to undergraduate school for wildlife I wasn't a hunter, but most people in the classes were, so it was different than you are describing! Those are the people that will be the wildlife managers in the units too! Amanda

    You Catch Anything?

I have had people ask that same question and I wonder if they really mean it as catch or not? Are they really asking if you killed something and just using the word catch? It always strikes me as a very odd thing to ask a hunter, but perhaps they mean did you get anything? I don't know...it does kinda irk me though and I don't tend to respond well to it....hehehe So far, I like the "yes, good thing I brought my rope instead of my gun" answer! Amanda

    When will CWT.com get it's 3,000th Member?

My new member number is 2918. Is that different from the actual number registered? Kevin Hmmm.....not sure. Perhaps the numbering just continues as people register but doesn't go backward when people get deleted (like the spammers). So I am thinking the number of registered users is the current total and the member number is a running total including those that were deleted. Amanda

Good news....Sportsman's Warehouse has donated 15 of their $10 off coupons to the Guess the Score contest, so we will have at least the top 15 people winning something. Most of you guys seem to shop regularly at Sportsman's, so I figure this is a pretty useful coupon.... Coues Deer Celebration 5!!!

thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! In case you are not aware of it, this was the 5th in a series, so if you missed the earlier ones, visit the video clip page. http://www.coueswhitetail.com/video_clips/video_clips.htm Hope you all get some nice bucks this year and take some great photos while doing it! Amanda
  21. Hi All, I finally got the 5th Coues Deer Celebration video done. It's been a hard one since the file got deleted during a software upgrade months ago when it was almost done! Anyway, I remade it and it's different that the original, but hopefully you will like it. For those are not familiar with this video series...what I do is take a ton of the photos and some video that has been submitted to CouesWhitetail.com and put them together in a minimovie set to music. It's a great way to see lots of bucks! This year's video is the longest yet and has over 220 photos in it. I apologize if I forgot anyone, but it's tough getting all those photos in. I try to include as many as I can. Should help you get pumped up for the season. There are giant bucks and not-so-giant bucks and I included lots of your sunrise/sunset pics also. It's output to high quality, so it will take awhile to download. You should be able to start playing it partway through the download, so you don't have to wait the whole time. Enjoy!! http://www.coueswhitetail.com/video_clips/...lebration_5.wmv Amanda

  23. The "Know Your Resources" group has frequent camping weekends for families. If you are looking for a group to camp with that provide some good activities for kids this is a good one! They usually get some speaker to come for presentations about wildlife, archaelogy, forestry, fishing or whatever. It's generally geared toward people that don't camp alot and want to learn more about it, but even seasoned campers can enjoy going on these trips. A GREAT WAY TO SPEND THE WEEKEND. Know Your Resources Workshop Lower Salt River - Pebble Beach Recreation Area Know Your Resources is a series of overnight family friendly camping adventures designed to introduce participants to camping and recreation areas in Arizona. Your registration fee covers the campground costs, all food and activities. The Lower Salt River runs through beautiful canyon walls several hundred feet high and offers solitude for many birds, including one nesting pair of bald eagles. Coyotes and Javelina abound. The water originates deep below the surface of Saguaro Lake, and runs cold and clear with schools of bluegill, largemouth and smallmouth bass and rainbow trout stocked by Game and Fish.
