Do you have a bipod on your rifle? It's still good to do something to support the stock. Last year, I used my bipod up front and a tripod to support the back. It takes a fair amount of time to set it up to get the right angle. That is my only complaint about that way. That outdoorsmans mount looks very nice, but I would have the same problem with adjusting things quickly enough (since I don't have a pistol grip head). Amanda

You can buy one in the CouesWhitetail.com store. Look at the last item on this page, it's called Jimmy's Rifle rest. It's u-shaped rather than V-shaped, but it works very well. Just screws onto your tripod or the plate in your tripod head. http://www.coueswhitetail.com/bookstore/adaptors.htm Amanda

Zeiss 15x45 Conquest... Has anyone used them?
CouesWhitetail replied to DesertDweller's topic in Optics and tripods
Well, just as you would suspect, they do not have the light gathering ability due to the smaller objective lens, but they are light and a pleasure to carry. There is always a trade-off and to some the loss of light gathering is a fine trade-off for lighter binos. The 15x56's are much better, but much heavier....so it's personal preference. Amanda -

Way to go Brent!! Glad you got to get out there and hunt and get a fine buck as well!! Amanda -
Lyme disease is spread to people by a direct bite from a deer tick, not by eating meat of a deer bitten by a tick. And I also think the ticks you saw in the ears are not the same as the deer tick that spreads lyme disease. Deer ticks that carry lyme disease are extremely small, like the head on a pin. I did recently talk to someone who said she knew someone who was were sure she contracted Lyme disease in Arizona since she hadn't been anywhere else, but if true, it's extremely rare. Lyme disease is much more common in the eastern half of the country. Amanda

Thanks again everyone. I was amazed at the number of guys and gals willing to share information. This is the best hunting site I have been on. I never tire of hearing that!! Thanks to all who share excellent info to help other hunters. Congratulations on your first Coues!!! Amanda -
No, I don't think there are any health risks by consuming deer meat from a deer that had ticks in its ears. Amanda

Congratulations to you both!! Amanda
