Since I realize some of you might actually not take a break from work for this contest, after the first 12 winners are chosen, I will place the rest of the people with correct answers in a random drawing for 5 more tshirts or videos of your choosing (one video or tshirt per winner). Deadline to submit answers will be Monday the 23rd 5 pm. Amanda P.S. For those wondering, I will assign everyone after the first 12 a number and then use a random number table to select 5 people at random for the remaining prizes. -
Thanks Dick! Amanda

here are the questions. HAVE FUN!!!! PLEASE EMAIL ME THE ANSWERS AND DO NOT POST THEM IN THIS THREAD! You can post general comments about the contest in this thread, just not the answers. amanda@coueswhitetail.com All the answers are found on CouesWhitetail.com, just go to the main page of www.coueswhitetail.com and check out the sections on the menu system on the left hand side of the page. You should be able to narrow down the section where the answer will be based on the questions. It shouldn't take too long to get the anwers. Just open two windows, one for this thread and one for the main CW site and you can toggle back and forth to read the questions and find the answers. Write them down and then email them to me. CW.com treasure hunt questions 1. How did the deer appear from the tangle of oak in Jeff Falls’ poem about Coues deer? 2. Wow Scottyboy!! I am thrilled for you! What a great opportunity! Hope you have a great hunt. Can't wait to see the pics. WOW! Amanda -
Glad you got it fixed. I have no idea what causes it to switch every now. It did it to me the other day also. Amanda

LOL!!!! Both my husband and I got a laugh out of that one! Thank God my husband is a gentleman and will always take the worst gear we have and leave me with the best stuff!! His feet and lower legs got soaked overnight in that tube tent since it doesn't close on the ends. But he was planning to just hike out in the morning while I went hunting with a friend. But what great memories! We used to use a tarp tied to trees or rocks and use a large blue nylon boat cover that he found on the side of the highway as a floor to keep us clean and dry from ground moisture. That worked fine except when it was really windy and rainy because it would come in the sides. And it was much heavier than my big agnes tent which we upgraded to. But still it was great to be backpacking using stuff found on the side of the highway! My husband is a real scrounge (sp?) and most of our tools and such come from the side of the highway. Thanks for the "pass the hat idea" (he thought that was hilarious), but he would NEVER spend it on himself. But hey, since I manage our bank accounts, maybe I would get more gear!! Amanda

Wow, can't believe I haven't seen that tree. Is it visible from the 191 or do you have to take a side road? Amanda

That's the buck that won you that neat bronze coues deer that Jason made for last year's coues contest, right? here is the field pic:

Gamehauler, Here at CouesWhitetail.com we pride ourselves on quick answers to questions. You made him wait like 4 hrs to get a response....geez, what kind of service is that? And what do I pay you the big bucks for if not to be the resident RV expert?? Seriously though, thanks for offering to help! Amanda

My guess is unit 14 is where one of the Indian Reservations are, kind of like unit 26 is/was San Carlos. Amanda -

WY mgmt mule deer hunt or take a good WT
CouesWhitetail posted a topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Hi All, I have a friend who is looking for someone to go on a hunt with him at a really nice ranch in WY. His friend that was planning to go along lost his job and can't afford to go now. So this is a 2 on 1 hunt for a mgmt mulie (they still take some very nice ones on the mgmt hunt) or you can shoot the biggest Whitetail you can find. It would be for next November, but they have to know soon. So PM or email me for more info if you are interested. Sounds like it's a great ranch with excellent lodging and food. Amanda -
Hi All, A new bowhunting video by Duwane Adams is now available in the CouesWhitetail.com bookstore. The video is a mix of video from/with Duwane and also a TV show segment that shows some kills. Duwane shares tips he has learned on how to be a more successful bowhunter. He is a big fan of sitting a blind rather than doing spot and stalk. However, there is some video of a spot and stalk hunt. The video is about 45 mins long and shows some nice bucks. http://www.coueswhitetail.com/bookstore/hunting_videos.htm Amanda

Aplications & the Economy
CouesWhitetail replied to Coues 'n' Sheep's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Although I made about 1/2 as much income last year as previous years, I always make hunting a priority and so when I cut back on spending it's not on resident tags. So my applications were the same as always. Amanda -
Gamehauler.....where are you??? Don't tell me you are actually working rather than checking this forum!! Someone needs your help, get your butt over here!

When I don't bother with a tent (as on most of my backpack hunting trips), I just use a bivy sack. you can see my red bivy sack on the right in these photos. Not the best for bad weather, but it kept me dry. My poor hubby was wrapped in a crappy orange tube tent and it didn't work so well. my little stove was able to make some warm drinks for us in the morning. Thank goodness! I have been camped out in like 16 degrees and had issues with the stove. But seems like above 20 it's fine.

I have the Big Agnes Seedhouse SL tent and love it. I have the Montbell Ultra Light Down Hugger rated to 0 degrees (weighs 2lbs 8 oz). I LOVE that bag. I get cold easy and this bag is the first one to keep me warm in most any condition in AZ. I also got their "warm-up" sheet which is an insert bag to add warmth to any sleeping bag. It does help a lot but I usually don't need it. I use a therma rest inflatable pad for sleeping on. I use a really small primus stove and tiny propane canisters for it. They usually last me a few days. My backpack is my dad's old external frame boyscout pack. I love it! It carries the weight easily for me and it's super lightweight. I have yet to find a backpack I like better. Don't know what I will do if something breaks on this one! Amanda Tent on left, sleeping bag and pad on right.
