    CO Vacation

Nice pics!!! Hey did you notice you have more pics of your CouesWhitetail.com sticker than you do of your wife Thanks, I will grab some of those for the sticker photogallery! And like Gamehauler said, you really should have tried harder to get that bear to wear a CWT shirt for the photo!! Amanda

    Covert Trail Cameras

I have not used the solar panels with this setup, but they have a plug-in for a panel to attach. Apparently it has to be a 6V version. I guess you would have to buy rechargeable AA's that would then charge off the solar panel? I would like to test this out sometime. Amanda

    Covert Trail Cameras

Hey All, I am excited to announce that DLC Covert has found ways to lower the cost of the cameras and I am now able to pass those savings on to you. The Covert 2 cams used to be $249 and now they are $219.99! Nice savings for a great product. The Covert 1's were $199 and now they are $189.99. So if you have been wanting to get one of these cams, then now just might be the time! Remember these are 5MP cams with infrared flash. They take excellent pics and video and have fast trigger speed and long battery life. No change in the quality of the cams, just new lower price. http://www.coueswhitetail.com/bookstore/trail_cameras.htm Amanda

  6. Hey All, Thought you might get a kick out of this story..... Last year while doing owl surveys on the San Carlos I lost a radio on a steep, thick slope. I searched for it for quite awhile, backtracking all over. Finally I gave up and returned to camp without the radio....none too happy. So, since I needed radios, I bought some upgraded Motorolas. But some of you might remember the awful performance of those radios on my deer hunt with Scott last year. Anyway, I took those radios back for a refund and ever since have been without radios (except for 1 from the original pair that I didn't lose). Well last week, my husband and I were hiking in the same steep area and he manages to find the radio that I lost a year before! He wasn't even with me when I lost it and so he didn't know where to look for it. And I wasn't with him when he found it since I was covering the other side of the canyon. So when we get home, I put in new batteries and the radio perks right up! Seems to work fine despite laying on the ground through all the monsoons and being buried in snow for months. It has several rodent chew marks but none are really bad and now I actually have a pair of working radios! I couldn't believe he actually found it!! What are the odds?? and how likely is it that it would not suffer some electrical problem after laying out in the weather for a year? Yippee!!! Nice to have my gear back! Thanks Husband!! Amanda

    Foundryman --- HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Hope you have a great day Jason!! For those that don't know Jason, he is the one who creates the bronzes we give away here in the Coues buck contests every year. AND he has graciously agreed to donate 5 bronzes to the ADA auction coming up in a couple weeks. One bronze is a mulie, one is a coues and another is going to be a custom bronze made to order by the winner of the item in the live auction. That means if you win it, you can have Jason create a bronze of your favorite trophy! I think it's a great item to win and I figure lots of guys have some great animals they would love to have in a bronze. He is also donating two bronze sheds to the silent auction, so if you would like one of those mini WT sheds that he made for me or a life-size WT shed, make sure you attend the AZ Deer Association banquet!! http://www.azdeer.org for ticket ordering Thanks Jason, your generosity is overwhelming!! Have a GREAT Birthday!! Amanda

    DLC Covert II

It does have the ability to plug in a moultrie solar panel. I haven't used one on it yet, but it's got the connection for it. I usually find it's about 3-4 seconds between a series of pics. So if for example, I have it set to take three photos for each trigger, then it will take one at 1.2 seconds after the animal triggers the sensor, then the 2nd pic will be 3 seconds later and the third will be 4 seconds later after that one. Seems like it's 3 seconds between first two pics and 4 seconds for the third. Maybe TAM tried the three shot photo burst setting and can let us know what he found out. here are two in a series (notice time elapsed is three seconds) here are two of a lion (three seconds) Amanda
  10. Hey All, Just wanted to let you all know that you really should attend the Arizona Deer Association banquet! There are some great hunts, trips, hunting gear and wildlife art lined up for the live and silent auctions! Several members of this forum are contributing great items....so if you are on the fence about attending, maybe some of these donations will prompt you to buy a ticket. Mike Fabritz (Rembrant) is donating a framed mule deer print from his artwork. http://www.fabritzart.com Jason Lewis (Foundryman) is donating a mule deer bronze, a coues bronze, a custom bronze of the winner's choosing, and two smaller shed bronzes. The custom bronze means the winner can have Jason produce whatever bronze he wishes. So if you have a favorite elk, sheep, or deer trophy, you can have a custom bronze made of it. How cool is that? Matt Woodward (soazarcher) is donating a scouting and map service and also a professional skull cleaning service. Matt owns and operates Borderland Adventures http://www.borderlandadventures.com/ Monty Parson (azsagebrush) is donating two different grand canyon tour packages. The first includes two nights stay at the Best Western in Tusayan, an early morning flight over the grand canyon, marble canyon, glen canyon, and lake powell, followed by a 4WD trip to and exploration of Antelope canyon and then a raft trip from Glen Canyon dam to Lee's ferry. Then a scenic bus ride back to the Grand Canyon. This is an outstanding trip and you can read more about it and watch video at : http://www.grandcanyon.com/canyonriveradventure.html Monty's second donation includes a flight for two over the grand canyon along with two IMAX tickets. Cade Smith (The Claw) is donating two of his claws http://www.thegunclaw.com Hector Albarran (Chef) is donating a Covert 1 trail camera and security box And I am donting a Covert 2 and an Alaska Guide bino pack. And Matthew Phillips (matthewp45) donated $200 to the ADA to help with the fundraiser. Kevin Harris (wetmule) is donating several items including some vintage wildlife signs, an AMDA belt buckle, and some framed wildlife photos that he took. You guys probably remember some of his amazing photos he has posted here. One of our sponsors, Mexafari is donating a Coues deer hunt and a Gould's turkey hunt in Mexico. http://www.mexafari.com Another sponsor, Duwane Adams ( http://www.arizonabiggamehunting.com ) is donating a 1/2 day glassing lesson for two. Christian Williams (stalkingcoues) is donating a deluxe Range Snap package. http://www.rangesnap.com Hopefully I haven't left anyone out. If I did, just remind me so I can edit the post. In addition to all the great stuff that our members are donating, there will be tons of great national and international hunts. To see a list of live auction items, visit http://www.azdeer.org We will have at least one table of CouesWhitetail.com forum members, and we are looking to get another table. If you want to go, let me know!! Thanks to those who have stepped up to make donations, especially in these tough economic times! Amanda

Found radio that was lost a year ago!

For those wondering it was a motorola talkabout T5320. Nothing fancy, this pair has worked fine for me over the years, but when I lost one, I figured I would upgrade. The upgrade was supposed to have longer range, but that new pair wouldn't even get clear reception when I was only 50 yards away from my hunting partner. Amanda

    Covert Trail Cameras

No official double pack for the Covert 1. With the new price break he couldn't afford doing another price break on a double pack. I called Covert just to double check. But when you are ready to buy, shoot me an email and I will see what I can do. amanda@coueswhitetail.com. Amanda

    Covert Trail Cameras

Doug is correct. The cameras are not going to be different, just lowered price. They are not changing the cameras, the manufacturer just finds they can offer them cheaper now. Amanda

I will put that in a separate post so people will see it and if you miss that, just check the trail cam page later today to see the new prices. Amanda

    Trail Cameras

I'll second the suggestion of Covert 1 or 2's.....and the nice thing is you can buy them here and help support this site at the same time! AND they are going on sale today! I will post more about that later. The coverts are smaller than most any other trail cam and therefore can be hidden more effectively. http://www.coueswhitetail.com/bookstore/trail_cameras.htm

    Owls vs. Mice video

Hey All, Here is my latest installment of the Owls vs. Mice videos that I have made. The video was taken during field work in Aravaipa and the Pinal mtns. Then I use a software program to slow it down so you can see more detail off the flights, and of course I added some music. The vocals in the second music piece are saying "Darkness is Coming", seemed appropriate especially for the mice meeting their destiny. http://www.coueswhitetail.com/video_clips/...s_is_coming.wmv Amanda

Gino, the batteries are AA, and each cam using 8 of them. They can last like 4,000 or more photos. I did have one of my cams recently not last that long, but I don't know what was up with that. I think it was set to video and video seems to use up the batteries faster, especially if you got more night video. You can buy a solar panel for these little cams. I think Moultrie makes them, I don't sell them. It has to be a 6 volt unit. I haven't yet done this with these cams. for more info on the cams: http://www.coueswhitetail.com/bookstore/trail_cameras.htm Amanda
