We can actually do one this year. Gary said he would donate a game bag. So, whoever gets it posted first and not falsely gets a great game bag. Sound ok? Amanda

    Coatimundie

Well, to start with coatimundi are not rodents. They are more like raccoons. They have some serious teeth and are pretty serious predators on small stuff like rodents, lizards, birds. But they also insects and pinon nuts and such. So, like a raccoon they are omnivores, eating a variety of animals/insects/plants. I haven't seen them be aggressive and have had single males tree themselves when I surprised them, much like a small bear will do. They then sit up in the tree and make some strange noises and look nervous. I have a neat male coati skull I found once. If I get a chance, I will take pics and post them so you can see the teeth. Vintage Hunting Photos

Hey guys, you might want to make a new thread each time you post some vintage pics. That way people can find them easier later if you give them a good title. Amanda

    CAMO version of Covert 1

For those considering a Covert 1 trail camera, you might like the new camo version. It's a little more than the green version, but still cheaper than a Covert 2. Here is a pic of it: For ordering info, see the trail cam page in the store: http://www.coueswhitetail.com/bookstore/trail_cameras.htm Amanda

Recipes while out in the sticks...

I also do the freezing meals in a vacuum sealing bags. Beef or Venison Stroganoff, slow-cooked pork and green chili, or the like is great and easy to reheat. If you precook the noodles also (keep in separate container or they get mushy), then your stroganoff meal takes no time at all to fix at night. Another way to make breakfast simpler is to take a bag of frozen tater tots with you. After the morning hunt, you can come back and scramble eggs, peppers, cheese and tater tots for a satisfying meal. It's lots faster than slicing and browning regular potatoes. Amanda

    Turtle's in the Desert

Those are great!! You only find them near places that have good amounts of water. They need a creek/river that has some good deep pools to keep the population going. They eat fish and frogs and insects and such, so you need some good water to have enough for them to eat and survive. here is a pic of another one: Amanda

Memorial forum for your loved ones

I have been meaning to create this Memorial forum for awhile now. But the recent posting by Kent of the loss of his son has prompted me to get it done. It's a tragedy to loose someone you love, but you can honor their life by sharing your memories and photos about them here. You can post about a CouesWhitetail.com forum member or their loved ones who have passed on. Since many of us have pets that become a strong part of our family, I thought this could be a place to put a memorial for your pet as well. Amanda

    Moving back to AZ!!!

Great news Jason!! Hope your move goes well. As someone else mentioned, watch the heat while packing up the truck! I helped moved my dad once in this kind of heat and it was rough! Now maybe you can start bringing your family to our CouesWhitetail.com get-togethers! You realize that now that you will be in AZ, people from the forum will be putting more pressure on you to stat turning out those little bronze whitetail sheds!!! Now they can come bug you at your house about it!! Amanda
