AZ YOUTH SPRING TURKEY HUNT ALL PROCEEDS WILL GO TO THE FAMILY OF MARVIN ROBBINS Three day guided hunt donated by: Colburn and Scott Outfitters www.colburnandscottoutfitters.blogspot.com http://www.jayscottoutdoors.blogspot.com Darr Colburn and Jay Scott This hunt will be for any youth hunter ages 10-17 for the 2010 AZ Spring Turkey hunt. This will be a three day guided hunt by Darr Colburn and Jay Scott. This will be a great opportunity for a youth hunter to learn from two seasoned guides that have harvested many turkeys over the years. The youth hunter will learn how to hunt turkeys, including how to roost birds, call birds and position for the shot. The tag and license for the youth spring hunt are not included but can be purchased over the counter and if the hunter is 14 years or under they must have completed an AZ Hunter Education class (See AZGFD website for more info). The area of the hunt will be determined by Colburn and Scott Outfitters prior to the hunt. The AZ Youth Spring Turkey season runs from April 16th thru May 20th. The exact dates of the hunt will be determined after the AZ Spring general draw by Colburn and Scott Outfitters and the hunter. I have used a GL2 for years. It's a great camera and fairly lightweight for it's quality. Love mine... You can buy a doubler for it and get some of the farther shots needed for a hunt situation. Of course the quality is better when you can avoid the doubler. Amanda

Nice to have some wildlife around....although one of the guys from my church is all angry at his neighborhood javelina for eating on his rose bushes and his tomatoes....

I certainly was wishing for a 14x scope (rather than just a 9x) on my 400 yard shot on my coues last week. I absolutely have to get a new scope this year. My old bushnell is dead and the one I am using now I borrowed from my neighbor last year and he says he needs it back after this season. 308nut, which 14x scopes do you like best? I have sort of been waffling around the Zeiss Conquest or Leupold Vari-XIII. Amanda

I searched through my pics and scoresheets from the ranch and can't find any 2 point. I am surprised I didn't at least have a pic of it. Amanda

Contest ends tonight at 5 pm. I will actually be over at a pig roast with Scott and won't be back until later on Sunday. So I will get results up on Sun or Monday. When there are duplicate guesses, I will keep the first one and drop the duplicates. Amanda

My suggestion is to just score them and find out. If you want info on scoring here it is: http://www.coueswhitetail.com/how_to_score..._Coues_deer.htm Tine length is generally the biggest factor in the score, but it looks like your buck with long tines has shorter main beams, a narrower spread and less mass. So sometimes tine length isn't enough....just rough score them yourself and let us know what you come up with. there is a spreadsheet on that link above where you can enter your measurements and it will calculate the score. I think it was probably an injury of some kind. I emailed the pics to Jim Heff. of AGFD and he said the same thing. He thought maybe it got hung up in a fence or something? Maybe a fence is what messed up his ear too? I don't know. Maybe he took a bad fall in some rough country while being chased by a lion? There were definitely some steep rocky areas not far from where I killed him. Amanda

Couessniper, Josh said the biggest 2 point he knows of was a 112-115 (gross) buck killed by a guy who hunted with Jim Reynolds. I called Jim to see if we can post pic, but haven't heard back yet. Josh thinks maybe it nets around 109. Amanda

Duct tape is very handy for everything! I pack around a small amount and It sure came in handy taping the point that broke off Scott's buck so we could have nice photos! Amanda
