Guess the Score Contest - Nov 09

You guys are very welcome! Winners, please remember you need to contact me with your shirt choice and address so I can get them in the mail to you. Amanda
  2. Well, yet again we have another outstanding buck for a Guess the Score contest. Thanks to Scott Adams for letting us use his buck and for patiently withholding the score of his buck for awhile . If you haven't read the story on his hunt, yet, you can do so here: http://forums.coueswhitetail.com/forums/in...c=15830&hl= You need to guess the GROSS score (so all inches of antler and spread before any deductions). This buck has one nontypical point which I have pointed out with an arrow to help you see it. If you want information on how to score or to download a spreadsheet to help you calculate score, visit: http://www.coueswhitetail.com/how_to_score..._Coues_deer.htm Good luck to everyone. Prizes will go to the top 10 guessers who are closest (either high or low) to the actual gross green score. Prizes will include your choice of CouesWhitetail.com tshirt or a hunting DVD or book. You have until Nov 14 at 5 pm to get your guesses in. Please try not to guess the same as anyone else has and make your guess within the nearest 1/8 of an inch. For those few that I told an estimated score to by text, you can still play because I didn't give out the actual score. Amanda here are the pics (if you want more pics, there are some in the hunt story thread linked above):

Hey All, I am having a hard time getting in touch with Jason (aka foundryman) since he moved to AZ. I know he has posted a few times since the move, but I don't have his new phone number. Anyone have it? Amanda

    What will score higher?

halfway between the centerline of the last point and the tip of the main beam I discuss how to do it and show photos of where that last circum is on this page: http://www.coueswhitetail.com/how_to_score..._Coues_deer.htm

    BBQ In Tucson

I am interested!! They finally opened the highway from Globe to Tucson, so it should be smooth sailing for me to get down there. Don't do it on Feb 11-14 since I think Antlerdog and I will be at a hunting expo in SLC. But perhaps 3rd weekend in FEB would be good. Archery season over, hunts in Mexico over, etc. Amanda

    "Unlimited Take" San Carlos Lake

Wow, I just came here to post that. You are fast! Yes, it's true. The lake is in bad shape and they are hoping to avoid a massive fish kill, so get out there and grab all you want. You need to still have a fishing permit, but the daily bag limit is waived on all species from Nov 16 to Dec. 31, 2009. Amanda

    24A Access through Senica Lake

Wow, that is an interesting change of policy. Did Harold give you more of a feel for if it was really something they wanted to change or if it was just one officer's interpretation? Amanda

    Auction and turkey dinner

In addition to the dinner, they will be auctioning off hunts. Here is one that Jay asked me to post for him. AZ YOUTH SPRING TURKEY HUNT ALL PROCEEDS WILL GO TO THE FAMILY OF MARVIN ROBBINS Three day guided hunt donated by: Colburn and Scott Outfitters www.colburnandscottoutfitters.blogspot.com http://www.jayscottoutdoors.blogspot.com Darr Colburn and Jay Scott This hunt will be for any youth hunter ages 10-17 for the 2010 AZ Spring Turkey hunt. This will be a three day guided hunt by Darr Colburn and Jay Scott. This will be a great opportunity for a youth hunter to learn from two seasoned guides that have harvested many turkeys over the years. The youth hunter will learn how to hunt turkeys, including how to roost birds, call birds and position for the shot. The tag and license for the youth spring hunt are not included but can be purchased over the counter and if the hunter is 14 years or under they must have completed an AZ Hunter Education class (See AZGFD website for more info). The area of the hunt will be determined by Colburn and Scott Outfitters prior to the hunt. The AZ Youth Spring Turkey season runs from April 16th thru May 20th. The exact dates of the hunt will be determined after the AZ Spring general draw by Colburn and Scott Outfitters and the hunter. This will be a great opportunity for a youth hunter to harvest a gobbler and have a great time doing it. For more info call Jay Scott 602-803-0223 or email at js43560@cox.net

    STOLEN DEER

That is really bizarre, I can't imagine someone doing that. What's the point of it? Amanda

    Cannon GL2

I have used a GL2 for years. It's a great camera and fairly lightweight for it's quality. Love mine... You can buy a doubler for it and get some of the farther shots needed for a hunt situation. Of course the quality is better when you can avoid the doubler. Amanda

    Some consistent visitors.

Nice to have some wildlife around....although one of the guys from my church is all angry at his neighborhood javelina for eating on his rose bushes and his tomatoes....

What Scope and power do you like?

I certainly was wishing for a 14x scope (rather than just a 9x) on my 400 yard shot on my coues last week. I absolutely have to get a new scope this year. My old bushnell is dead and the one I am using now I borrowed from my neighbor last year and he says he needs it back after this season. 308nut, which 14x scopes do you like best? I have sort of been waffling around the Zeiss Conquest or Leupold Vari-XIII. Amanda
