Rancho Durangueno Mexico Hunts 20% off for CW.com'ers
CouesWhitetail posted a topic in Sponsor Spotlight
One of our sponsors, Rancho Durangueno, is offering a 20% discount to any CouesWhitetail.com members who want to come hunt on their ranch. They are looking to fill some cancellations they had for some January hunts. So check out their website and see what they have to offer. This is a ranch with 5 star accomodations and oustanding customer service and meals. I have been down there and they have a lot of coues deer, but it's thicker than the usual country for coues, so glassing is a little more of a challenge. But there are glassable areas and they have created openings in other areas to help with that. I especially think this ranch is well suited for an archery who wants to sit a water hole or trail to bag a monster coues. their website: http://www.ranchodurango.com/eng/main.html It's a gorgeous property and it's located in the Mexican State of Durango. This will be my fourth year going to hunt Mexico and I have never had an experience like that. In fact my experiences have always been the exact opposite. I'm not sure what the difference is, but as long as our paperwork is in order and we mind our manners we are treated well. Phil, I hope you slam a monster! +1 I am always amazed how easy the gun crossings go. Sometimes you have to wait awhile at the army depot, but once the right person comes to check the paperwork it goes super fast. Amanda

Got a text from Steven last night of a pickup head with nontyp points they found yesterday on the ranch. 121 and some change. Wow, nice! You guys should have a great hunt. Amanda

Calling javelina does work and the J-13 is a good call for it. I have called javelina in to my feet using that J-13 call and it's a rush. Amanda

+ 1 I agree with everything Mike says. I haven't had a bad javelina. The big trick is to try and skin them without touching the gland on the back and certainly don't touch the meat if you happen to touch anything musky on the animal (like the gland on the back). I think alot of people try and cut that gland out and you don't have to, just skin it as you would any animal and the gland comes off with the skin. I have marinated them in Lawry's citrus grill sauce and it was AMAZING! I have also done lots of smoked jerky and used them in sausage. Amanda -
I think that is the first time I have seen him. I want to go back and check some velvet pics, but this seems to be a new buck. FYI - the buck in the 1st photo is the same as the one in the 2nd photo. He actually seemed to be frightened by the camera. He looked right at it a few times and then there is a pic of him running away. I don't know what that is about since the other deer don't seem to spook with the cam. The little 2 point (3rd photo, daytime pic) comes regularly. I am hoping to learn more about that bigger buck. I put in a 2nd cam in an area with water maybe 1/2 mile upstream from the cam where he was. Not sure if he is spending more time up there or lower. Amanda

Pulled the cards on two cams today and got pics of deer, skunks, birds, coati, fox. These are some of the more interesting ones. Looks like the bigger bucks neck is getting swollen, perhaps the rut is coming....

I will take it, but I am in Globe not Flag...so likely not a good option for you. Amanda -
My husband just purchased a used jeep for cheap and he kept pushing me to get a sticker on it. He said his car was naked without it and he refused to leave for his trip to the valley without a sticker, so I finally got my butt in gear and put a sticker on. How's it look?
-
Maybe he would take a payment plan and you might afford it that way? Amanda

The best kind of sticker sighting!

Taxidermist that has coues replica skulls?
CouesWhitetail replied to Flash's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
There are some taxidermy shops that carry different sized replica skulls. Here is one that I think is closest to the size of a Coues skull. http://www.vandykestaxidermy.com/product/3...tail-deer-skull You could buy one and have just about any taxidermist mount your antlers to it. I am planning to do that with some of my antlers. Amanda
