Wow, that's very creepy. I had a dream the other night that I slipped into a crevice and there were several rattlers nearby, felt one slither along my leg. woke up in an unpleasant panic. And that was BEFORE I saw this post!! Amanda

Nice to finaly meet you
CouesWhitetail replied to GameHauler's topic in CouesWhitetail.com Get-togethers!
Well, my goodness, thanks for the kind comments GH. I just saw your post today. It kind of offsets a friend of mine who says I look way older than I did just a few years ago.....those darn gray hairs are a give away. Oh well, you can't stop the march of time. Anyway, it was a fun lunch (despite poor Wyatt's illness) and I really appreciate you all taking the time to meet up with me. Thanks GH for generously picking up the tab for all of us. And yes, let's do it again sometime. And thanks to both of you for loaning me some turkey decoys!! I can't wait for the 2nd annual ladies NM turkey hunt next week!! Amanda -
Ted Nugent & Pima County Fair
CouesWhitetail replied to Snapshot's topic in Non-hunting trip reports
Thanks Brent and Tony for trying to get Ted a CW.com shirt. It would be awesome if it happens. If I could spare the $550 now, I would get you the VIP deal Brent, but can't swing it. Good luck with your quest Brent! Amanda -
A day well spent indeed!! Amanda

Question for Bill Quimby!
CouesWhitetail replied to Snapshot's topic in Hunting and Outdoors-related books
One of the nice things about a site like this is that if you write up your hunts and post them to share with people here, it's easy to print them out and then you have them in case you want to remember the hunt years from now (or to publish in a book). Amanda -

Last week my husband and I went out to the Black Hills/Guthrie Pass area over by Clifton. It was more than worth it to go!! Miles and miles of poppies in full bloom. So, if you are looking for a place to take the family this weekend, take a nice drive out there in the mid-morning (the poppies close up around 3 pm in the afternoon). It will be stunning! Someone we know was just there yesterday and said it was still awesome! I took some video but haven't had time to edit it. So all you get are pics. To get there go to Safford and then take hwy 191 north toward Clifton. The poppies are in the hills just before you drop into Three-Way. I believe it was mile maker 179. But you can't miss them. If you get to the intersection in Three-Way you went too far.

Need somewhere to go this weekend?
CouesWhitetail replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Non-hunting trip reports
Yes, Julie does have a great smile! And for those wondering, the new dog (Sunshine) was at the vet that day getting spayed, so that's why she isn't in any of the pics. But she got to go out there today so she will enjoy that. Amanda -
Ever wonder how AGFD conducts surveys for deer?
CouesWhitetail replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I think Jim will get back to this thread sometime after the April 17 commission meeting that he mentioned in a previous post. They have a lot going on to get the hunt recommendations ready for that meeting. Amanda -
Need somewhere to go this weekend?
CouesWhitetail replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Non-hunting trip reports
No wonder that's the best spot in the state for poppies this year! FYI - My husband is out there today (4/12) and says the poppies are still amazing. He also said I had the wrong mile marker. It's mile marker 149. Amanda -
Love the way those look! Thanks Doug! Amanda

It's likely a winter turkey roost. They roost together in larger flocks then and when I see sign like that, it's almost always a winter roost, which gets used year after year. During the spring and summer turkeys are more likely to roost in smaller flocks and even use single trees like you mentioned. Amanda

Eagercoues (Jeff Hough) sent me this note with the pics (and I did ask him permission to post all this before posting it - didn't want to get him in trouble!). I think it's awesome!! Thanks Jeff! "Here is a picture of your truck just before we crossed into Iraq from Kuwait to pick up a 30 up armored vehicles to be taken to Afghanistan. When we took this picture we were only about 300 yards from Iraq in the staging lanes at the boarder , The mission took 11 days without incident we traveled 1072 miles with 5 of these trucks ,4 Gun trucks for security and 25 civilian trucks to pick up our load and return to Kuwait to ship them out. So far the 1404th Transportation Company out of Show Low has traveled 1.5 million miles in only 10 months and have been up and down Iraq picking up and delivering all types of freight from Tanks to food and water. Thanks for the sticker it made it all the way north before they made me take it off , none of our trucks have any markings or numbers on them, they don't them to stand out or to be recognize in any way but I did get a few comments on what kind of deer that was and I told them to go to the web site and check it out. You might have to re size the pictures. And the good thing is that we only have 48 days left. I have a few other pictures if you would like them. Thank you" Jeff Hough eagarcoues

Awesome! Amanda -
I am taking a group of women turkey hunting in NM in a couple weeks and many of them are first time hunters. I am thinking turkey decoys would really help us be successful. I don't own any, but was thinking maybe someone here might have some they are not using? Let me know. Amanda
