A teenage boy had just passed his driving test and inquired of his father as to when they could discuss his use of the car. His father said he'd make a deal with his son: 'You bring your grades up from a C to a B average, study your Bible a little, and get your hair cut. Then we'll talk about the car.' The boy thought about that for a moment, decided he'd settle for the offer, and they agreed on it. After about six weeks his father said, 'Son, you've brought your grades up and I've observed that you have been studying your Bible, but I'm disappointed you haven't had your hair cut. The boy said, 'You know, Dad, I've been thinking about that, and I've noticed in my studies of the Bible that Samson had long hair, John the Baptist had long hair, Moses had long hair...and there's even strong evidence that Jesus had long hair.' ---- his father replied, 'Did you also notice they all walked everywhere they went?

We always hunt the second season and it is usually timed perfect! They are accepting applications right now for tags for next year so you might still have time I thought they were already sold out for the 2nd spring season next year. Guess I better call! thx. Hey, don't tell anyone though, ok, otherwise they might sell out before I get back from my NM hunt!
-
Were you hunting in the 1st or 2nd season? I keep wanting to get my lady hunting friends to go, but I want 2nd season tags and those are sold out so fast I can't get any! Amanda

congratulations!

Awesome write-up and +1 on San Carlos doing a great job keeping hunter numbers down and game quality up. That's what I love about hunting out there, great game, low hunter density and gorgeous country. It's a real treat to hunt out there! Amanda

flowers & photography -- superior & globe April 16/17/18 saludos! there will be a guided flower walk at globe's "round mountain park" saturday the 17th at 3:00 PM lead by our own BTA flower tour guide cass blodgett -- also photography workshops friday/saturday at BTA, then sunday in globe, featuring maggie leef (one of BTA's most popular instructors). complete info's below if you're interested! ~pw __________________ Superior, Globe Offer Flowers & Photography April 16-17-18 Superior, AZ: Boyce Thompson Arboretum in Superior and the Round Mountain Park in Globe are each higher elevation than the valley, wildflowers reach peak color in mid-April and native species include golden Wallflower, indigo-blue Delphinium, white clusters of Desert Onions and other flowers interspersed with vivid magenta Hedgehog Cacti blossoms. The weekend of April 16-17-18 offers flower fans and photographers a chance to learn to ID wildflowers – and to photograph them in their natural glory, too. Arizona Native Plants Society member Cass Blodgett leads two Saturday flower walks: at 11:00 a.m. at the Arboretum (included with daily $7.50 admission), then he’ll head east to Globe to lead a 3:00-5:00 flower tour at Round Mountain Park (free admission and no park fee to attend Cass’ afternoon walk). Springerville pro photographer Maggie Leef has five classes to choose from, too, showcasing April color at the Arboretum and also Round Mountain Park, and with classes ranging from beginners’ photography to more advanced “in the field” workshops -- even a classroom session teaching intermediate-level users of PhotoShop a range of effects in the popular digital imaging software. Classes at the Arboretum range from $37.50 to for $52.50 for PhotoShop. Read complete class descriptions at http://arboretum.ag.arizona.edu/photoclass.html to enroll have a credit card ready and call Arboretum staff at 520-689-2723 during daytime business hours. Leef offers two Sunday workshops in Globe April 18 sponsored by the Globe Chamber of Commerce; these include ‘Beginners’ Photography’ in the morning and a flower-specific field study workshop that same afternoon. For Sunday workshop registration call Chamber of Commerce staff at 928-425-4495. Class Details: BOYCE THOMPSON ARBORETUM April 16-17 * Basic Flower and Garden Photography April 16, Friday, from 9:00 - 12:00. $37.50 Beginners and intermediate photographers: learn basic, practical skills to improve flower and garden photography. Topics covered include composition, exposure and metering, light, using color to create mood, problem colors and color casts, and dealing with wind. Also covered will be utilizing different camera settings and using aids, props and some optional equipment. Shooting in wet weather will also be covered. * GardenScapes -- an 'In The Field' Shoot April 16, Friday, 2:00 - 4:30 PM. $37.50 You've read your manual, you understand basic photography concepts and are getting comfortable adjusting the dials on your camera... what's next? Apply what you've learned with a Friday afternoon in-the-field shoot. * Simple Effects in PhotoShop April 17, Saturday, from 9:00-12:00. Got Photoshop, but you've never progressed much past simply cropping and resizing your JPGs? Whether you have Elements, Photoshop 6, 7, CS2 or comparable image-editing program, it's time to get higher mileage out of your software. After a short introduction to image preservation and layers, students will learn how to enhance their images with a variety of special effects, including Soft Mist, Vignetting, Colorizing and Tinting. ROUND MOUNTAIN PARK IN GLOBE April 18 • Beginners' Photography & Camera Class: Sunday, April 18, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Your point-and-shoot digital camera is more powerful than you may know -- and includes a range of settings which replicate fancier, much more costly digital SLRs. This is an indoor classroom session designed for beginners – even if you’re still shooting with film -- even if you only use a disposable camera! Learn the most basic camera techniques, as well as a few intermediate and advanced tricks with Springerville nature photographer Maggie Leef. $37.50 ; call 425-4495 to enroll. Check out Maggie’s work at leefphotography.com . “I'm offering this class by popular demand, said Leef, noting that a Globe resident asked if she ever offered classes to novice photographers who haven't found the time to learn more about their digital cameras. "We'll cover the basics, I'll also demystify the camera manual and help participants get more out of their settings and options." • Round Mountain Park April Flowers: Sunday, April 18 from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m.; also Monday morning, April 19, from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. The City of Globe's Round Mountain park has lovely wildflowers, color typically peaks during April and this month two photography classes are timed to capitalize on the blooms from Wallflower, Delphinium and brilliant magenta Hedgehog cacti. Learn to capture their beauty with your digital camera alongside a pro photographer. Both in-the-field classes are limited to eight students, allowing plenty of one-on-one time for students to pose their own questions about camera settings, modes and applications. Enrollees should bring their camera manual along; also a tripod if you own one. Cost is $37.50; call the Globe-Miami Chamber of Commerce at 928-425-4495 to enroll. -
I thought it was the AZ Wildlife Federation that did the award, but when I went to their website, they listed this as the Big Game Award and you only have to take 9 species. http://www.azwildlife.org/big_game_award.html Bill Quimby will know the answer since he has taken all 10 and then some. OH MAN Scottyboy you made me soooo jealous!! That is a gorgeous turkey!! Did you know he was there, or was it a surprise when he came in? And yes, those snowy owls are gorgeous too. I saw one in Wisconsin a couple years ago. Amanda

Hehehe, my husband LOVES those bean burritos. We pick them up on the way to camping often. But we usually don't bother reheating them. Might be worth a try! Amanda

I have always wanted to get a white turkey and can't seem to find one of those.....Yet!! Amanda

When I first saw it, with that front view, I thought wow, that thing looks like a Gyrfalcon! But after some better looks and seeing its mate, we realized it was a RTHA. Amanda

I know of one person who has a white wrangler in Tonto Basin, but I thought he had it on the windshield. This was on the back window. Don't know if you saw me in my jeep going past you, but I didn't see your sticker until you went by. Who is it? Amanda

Lots of people use the Covert 2 cams as surveillance cams. You can use the Tree60 camera mount to mount it to your house and have it up out of the way of theives. The coverts take great video and they can be programmed to only operate during certain hours so that you aren't filming your family coming and going so much. http://www.coueswhitetail.com/bookstore/trail_cameras.htm

Nice finds!

I also recommend the Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx. I have been wanting one for the last couple years. I teach some geocaching classes and whenever someone brings in one of those I realize how nice they are. The one this past weekend got reception inside a building when the Garmin Etrex's didn't. The Rhinos are great too. Lots of people on this site love those if you want a radio built in. Amanda

Nice finds Jim!! Glad your dog is ok, wow, what an adventure. Julie jumps off ledges all the time and luckily she hasn't landed in a pile of cactus, although she has a clump of small cactus spines in her shoulder right now that we can't get out without pulling out her hair too. Amanda

I don't know. Funny thing is I found the white bighorn sheep two days after I found the white redtail. So it was a good week for finding white critters! For those that missed the bighorns, here is the link to that post: http://forums.coueswhitetail.com/forums/in...showtopic=18168
