+1 Politics isn't my favorite either.... but nobody has to read everything on the site. The political forum is there for those that enjoy discussing politics. It was added because many people requested it. If you don't like politics, don't open threads in that forum. Even though illegal immigration seems like a topic unrelated to hunting, it really does affect hunting in AZ. Just look at the AGFD regulations and their red demarcation zone and warning about problems with illegals in certain southern units. And think of all the hunters who don't hunt the southern units just because they are afraid of the illegal activity. Illegal immigration/drug smuggling is affecting hunters in AZ and seems a very appropriate discussion topic for a hunting site to me.

Gotta Read This...
CouesWhitetail replied to COOSEFAN's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Exactly right! If our government put the time and money into illegal immigration like they do in the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, the problem would be solved quickly. Maybe they should move the Whitehouse down to the border. Then Obama can watch 300-1200 immigrants walk across his front lawn daily. +1 Maybe we can move Congress down there too. That would really help speed up the process of getting something done that works. -

Spring Gobblers....Part 2

Maybe check the manual for the cam to see if you can just download using a USB cable. You would need some sort of video editing program on your computer to process the video. Not sure if you have that, but Microsoft includes Movie Maker and that works ok. Look under All Programs, then Accessories, then Entertainment, and you should see Windows Movie Maker (at least that is how it is on my XP machine, not sure about Vista). -

Well great job on low hunters and game until next year (2011). They got got greedy I guess...... Took lessons for the AZGFD apparantly.... Up until this year there were 150 tags for units A,B, and C, total combined, now this next year (2011) they have 150 tags for unit A, 150 tags for unit B, and 150 tags for and unit C (totaling) 450 tags. They just up and decided to TRIPLE THE TAGS BECAUSE THEY COULD. We have hunted up there for the last 4 years but because of this we won't any longer. $245.00 is an aweful lot to pay for a Turkey, especially when they triple the amount of tags that we have been used to. My buddy and I both took 10 3/4" bearded Turkey out of there this year, but this is the last year because of their greed. I hate to be a pessimist, good luck to all that apply next year. That was actually just a typo. They did not intend to do 150 tags per unit. I spoke with the director of the dept about it. It will be a total of 150 again just as in the past years. The typo came about because this year they intended to make the tags valid for a particular unit rather than have the tag good for all three units. It's been fixed on their website now too. So next year you will have to pick a particular unit for your hunt. This way the hunting pressure is spread out evenly across the three units. Amanda

Wow, that's awesome. Take lots of pics and have a great adventure! -
Killing them. They are gorgeous animals. It is a shame we have to kill them to put them on the wall. Other than that, getting on an airplane and flying back home to the fridgid frickin cold. They are beautiful animals and they are great eating! Venison is some of the healthiest meat on the planet. I certainly don't kill them just to put them on a wall....

Yes, I think we have enough for two tables. Is everyone from the original table still in? Amanda

Hey All, The AGFD is holding it's 1st annual Youth Hunter Education Challenge on May 22nd at Ben Avery. This event is open to any person 19 or younger who has completed a hunter education class. I have attached some documents with more info. CouesWhitetail.com is sponsoring the Wildlife Identification Challenge and if anyone wants to come help out, we can use 2-3 people for that event. There are also other challenges like the archery challenge, shotgun challenge, orienteering challenge, etc. Different groups are sponsoring those, but they may still need some help too. If you want to come help out and represent CouesWhitetail.com, let me know. See the attached documents for more details. For more information visit www.azgfd.gov/shootingsports or contact the Hunter Recruitment and Retention Coordinator at 623-236-7567 or email draum@azgfd.gov. 1st_Arizona_Youth_Hunter_Education_Challenge_Event_1_.doc 2010_AZ_YHEC_Rules_1_.doc
