    Pinal Fire??

I think it was a lightning strike and it started around mid-July. Not sure how many acres it burned. I think they called it the Mill 2 fire. I think it burned for over a week.

    1st ever CouesWhitetail.com Bass Tournament!

Ok, I got some rule clarifcations from John. there is a 5 fish per Boat limit. There is a slot limit at Roosevelt as was stated above. You can keep fish under 13 inches and over 16 inches and 1 within the limit (per angler, so technically each boat could have two within the limit if they have two people on the boat). No live bait (lures only) No fishing from shore No drugs or alcohol (this is for insurance reasons, please abide by this to keep everyone safe) Also, plan on bringing either bags of ice for your live well or even better bring frozen water bottles. John tells me that a few frozen 2 liter soda bottles work great in the live well. This will help keep the fish alive. We don't want a bunch of dead fish floating around after this tournament. Please work to keep those fish alive. Keep the live wells pumping water and keep the temp of the water down by using ice/frozen water bottles. We are only fishing until 1 am so that the fish don't have to be kept as long and therefore survival is likely to be higher since they won't be in the live well all night. Looking forward to the tournament! For those that have a boat and no partner or don't have a boat and want to fish, post up and maybe we can get some teams made up that way. If you have anymore questions, please let me know.
  6. Hey All, I don't know if anyone was listening to Darla's radio show Outdoor Arizona but she just interviewed me about the bass tournament. She thought it was the first time a hunting group had teamed up with a bass group to do a fishing tournament. She called it Arizona's version of Surf and Turf...hehehe. Anyway, it is nice to get some publicity about the tournament. I would have given you guys some warning so you could tune in, but I had none. She just called and said you are on in about 3 minutes! I hope I sounded ok! FYI - One of the things I would like to do with this tournament is to raise some money for Sadie's liver transplant. So if we end up having enough boats to cover expenses, then I can make a donation to her in the name of CouesWhitetail.com. So I hope we get enough boats! Amanda

    missed most of it

I was surprised by all the places that fire went. It made me wonder if some of that might not have been backburn to protect the cabins and such. I need to get a map of the fire and see how it really burned. I am also wondering if it will green up in time for the archery season. We have been getting lots of rain up there and I am thinking it might just green up in time to pull deer into it. Let me know what you see regarding green-up and deer after you hunt up there.

    missed most of it

That's a bummer....you patiently (or not so patiently) wait awhile so you can get lots of pics and then find out your cam was repositioned a few days after you left it! Nice pics though. I like the ringtail. Nice meeting you and your boys the other day!

    Organ Donors

You should check again. I was recently able to give blood after years and years of them telling me that I couldn't due to living in Switzerland for a year. The rules have changed. So you might be eligible.

    Scouting Camera Recommendations

When you use just four you put them together in the top slots. The camera normally uses four at a time, so when you put 8 in, it uses the first four until they are empty and then switches to the next four.

Thanks for the review Coach!! Glad you are loving the camera. FYI - I was talking to the owner of the Covert company yesterday and asked him how many pics you can take on 8 lithium batteries and he said the record they have so far is 18,000 photos. Yes, that's 18K photos! Wow! The package says the camera will take over 4k on 8 regular batteries. Those lithiums just seem to last forever though. I have yet to have a camera with lithiums even get low on battery life. They just keep going. And these cameras will actually run on just 4 batteries. I just checked on a camera that I had out for 4.5 months which had taken over 850 pics and it only had 4 lithium batteries in it and the indicator said battery strength was still full! So they obviously can last a very long time on just 4 batteries. And just an fyi - the new Covert HR doesn't require the wired remote that the Covert 2 uses. And it has a built-in viewer to see your pics and to program the cam. It has more LED lights, and takes 8 MP pics and uses up to a 8 GB card. So there are some nice perks to the latest model.

    IS IT TRUE?

yes, it is true. I have eaten it and it can be excellent meat. I recently had some mountain lion summer sausage that was very good. But I have eaten roasts also that were fine. It's lean meat.

    Glassing setup

I glassed for several years using a similar set up to yours. I would think a velcro adapter would be nicer than using that piece of wood and would be a fairly cheap upgrade. You can always upgrade the head and the tripod later if you want.
