    Archery 101

Congratulations on your buck! I am so glad to hear the Range Snap helped make you successful!! Thanks for the testimonial! It is a great product and I think it's very cool that one of our forum members created it!! Thanks to Christian Williams for sharing it with us! For those not familiar with the Range Snap, here is the link for more info: http://www.coueswhitetail.com/bookstore/range_snap.htm

    Someone lose their Trophy Rock?

+1 Jim The guides I know are courteous, respectful, and extremely eager to help people, whether they are clients or not. Lumping all guides into the same category is just as wrong as claiming that all hunters behave the same and hold the same ethics.

One down and three to go.

Congrats on a fine antelope! Let's hear more details on the hunt.....

Perfect set up for hunting back pack

I have a hard time choosing a backpack, but I would look at Eberlestock and see which model appeals to you. A great source for information and those packs would be sponsor Eric Santana of Payson Outfitters. He knows these packs and can really help you out when choosing one. And he gives a discount to members of CouesWhitetail.com! http://www.paysonoutfitters.com/servlet/StoreFront Another of our sponors is Outdoorsmans and they have a great selection of tripods and adapters and such and so I would check out their store too. They also have very knowledgeable staff that can help you pick out gear. http://www.outdoorsmans.com/ I would also take some Wilderness Athlete products. I love those...great energy for fueling up during a hunt. Contact Outdoorsmans about that. Surely you can find more than 2 items you want from the CW.com store. Here are a few I suggest: A slik sprint pro (or even smaller, the slik sprint mini) and the Jim White Tripod head would be a lightweight setup for glassing. I really enjoy my JW head on my backpack hunts. http://www.coueswhitetail.com/bookstore/tr...ripod_heads.htm Of course you may need an adapter for whichever binos you get (I take my swaro 15s on my backpack hunts). The Swaro bino adapter made by Jim White is a very good one and is also available at the CW.com store: http://www.coueswhitetail.com/bookstore/adaptors.htm I would definitely take a Havalon knife and extra blades. I prefer the Orange Piranta Edge. Just be careful when you use this knife...it's beyond sharp!! And you don't to cut off a finger in the outback! http://www.coueswhitetail.com/bookstore/havalon_knives.htm I would have recommended getting one of those Ultimate Gamebags by our own Elkaholic but he just ran out and won't be making them anymore.....bummer. The Eyeshield is handy to keep the sun out of the sides of your eyes while glassing: http://www.coueswhitetail.com/bookstore/eye_shield.htm A glassing chair or seat pad makes glassing more comfortable: http://www.coueswhitetail.com/bookstore/gl...air_and_pad.htm Binocular pack to protect the binos: http://www.coueswhitetail.com/bookstore/binocular_pouch.htm Of course CW.com tshirts and Hats would help you on your hunt too! http://www.coueswhitetail.com/bookstore/tshirts.htm http://www.coueswhitetail.com/bookstore/hats/hats.htm

    Another Arizona Treasure- BIGHORN-Poached

I can't imagine why anyone would shoot a lamb. Imagine that...standing on the side of the road looking up at the lamb and deciding to shoot it? And then the poor thing falls off the cliff and survives awhile. What a shame...

    Not a Coues buck

Wow, great photos! I haven't ever seen babies riding on the back of an adult before. That's neat! Great color on that adult too. Are those shorthorned lizards?

    Spot light

I wonder how many people actually do spotlight here? It doesn't seem very popular, but I guess there are some that do it. I used to do it for work as a biologist doing deer surveys. It's definitely interesting.

    Check out this MONSTER buck!

yes, it's yucca fruit....I thought it was cool watching him eat that.

    Found dead 2x2 w/ kicker

Call the game warden for the unit and have him come look at it. If it's a fresh kill, it's illegal for you to posess, so I would let AGFD know about it.
  16. CouesWhitetail

    Check out this MONSTER buck!

They actually lost him for a few years and now found him in another area. That's assuming it really is the same buck of course.

    Dads NM Antelope

Wow!! That's awesome!! Was he hunting all by himself then?
  18. CouesWhitetail

    Check out this MONSTER buck!

LOL!! But some people have a great time trying to figure out a score...so let's have some fun with this one!

When I get that big one!

Where is your elk hunt? Perhaps dropping it off at a shop up north would save you some trouble. Jeremyb has a great meat processing shop in Payson. He just signed up as a sponsor and is offering 10% off processing for anyone who shows up wearing a CouesWhitetail.com hat, tshirt or has a CouesWhitetail.com sticker on their vehicle. How cool is that? Browning's Custom Meat Processing 404 South St. Phillips Payson, AZ 928-978-3512 602-708-1920

    Help with mounting antlers

You can get a mounting kit at WalMart that will allow you to mount either on a wall or let it sit on a desk. Do you have the full skull on this buck or just the antler plate?
  24. Thanks for the info Hyperwrx.
  25. Thanks to Matt Liljenquist for sharing his new monster buck with us!! He was guided by Chad Smith of Vaquero Outfitters. Congratulations to all involved. What a GIANT! Many thanks to Karl Owens (aka azsugarbear) for talking to Matt and asking permission to post these pics here. here is the story: Matt Liljenquist with his 2010 Arizona Strip Archery Buck With his dad, Randy Liljenquist and good friend Blake Chapman in position to help with hand signals, Matt and I stalked to 52 yards of this bedded buck. After a short wait in the 95 degree sun the buck got up and walked to 32 yards broadside. I gave him a grunt and Matt sent Rusty Ulmer’s new broadhead on its way. Matt’s buck gross scores 240 and has a gross typical frame of 228 7/8 by an official measurer - net score is pending 60 days drying time. I can honestly say Matt and Randy are some of the nicest people you will ever know and it could not be more deserving. I am grateful that they let Blake and I be part of their fair chase hunt. Thanks, Chad Smith
