That's a nice plaque you made. Tell us more about her. Was she your friend or a relative?

They may have stopped giving out the lion tags with the big game tags. Used to be included, but sounds like you are out of luck. If they are not included, then like they told you, you have to buy a lion tag and then pay a daily fee to hunt. When were you told that your deer tag included a lion tag and was it by a SC Dept employee? As Coach alluded to, things can change fast out there and you can hear different things from different people. You might call again and ask.... or check their website for regulation info. They might have a notice on there about the change in tags.

I had the pleasure of going up to Young last week for a workshop and was invited by Dale and Heather of Wild Heritage Taxidermy to come on by and see the shop and stay for dinner (thanks Dale and Heather!). Anyway, we had a great dinner but what I wanted to share with you was some pictures of Dale's work and also to let you know that Dale has entered a taxidermy contest that is coming up in a couple weeks in PHX. Dale has decided not to do a "show piece" just for the competition. Instead he will be using the work he is doing for some clients. This should be a true test of his "everyday" taxidermy skills. If you can win using your everday work, then that reflects very well on a taxidermist. Dale is still working on the pieces as we speak! He has some great ideas for them too and I can't wait to see the results. Dale spends a lot of time customizing forms for his customers. One of the mounts he will enter is a giant black bear for which there was no skull form large enough. So he had to make the skull much larger than usual to match the clients bear. here is a pic of him holding the skull form that he modified and he and my hubby are looking at the bear form and talking about Dale's ideas for the mount. Here are some mounts he has already completed but I don't think are going in the competition: and here are some forms he is customizing: a coati form And here is a pic of Dale and Heather with a lion that is going to the competition: Info on the competition: The Arizona Taxidermy Artists Association will be having its annual competition June 10-12, 2010. It is open to the public from 8am - 4 pm, Sat. June 12. It is at the Holiday Inn Phoenix West @ I-10 and 51st Ave. For more info: http://www.taxidermyataa.com/ If you can go and support Dale and Heather, please do! We may even have some of our other taxidermy sponsors entering the competition. And of course you will see some great taxidermy work, so this might be a great way to find your next taxidermist

Christian Williams (aka Stalkincoues, and the creator of the Range Snap) asked me to share some trail cam video of an elk they call Brutus. He is hoping to get this very nice bull during his archery hunt right now. Look at the neat nontyp points he has. http://www.coueswhitetail.com/video_clips/...y_wallowing.ASF http://www.coueswhitetail.com/video_clips/..._front_view.ASF

I suggest Round Valley Arms 928-978-0058. They are a sponsor here and can get you all hooked up.

Well, I was in the Valley yesterday running errands. One of those errands was up in Glendale and I just pulled into the parkinglot near Corner Archery when a violent hail storm hit. WOW! I don't think Paul or I have seen hail that big and it was very intense! As the storm was approaching we went out to look and then a few seconds later it hit. The hail storm got so loud everyone went inside after a few minutes of it. The winds were strong and pushed the hail up against the sides of the cars and the sides of the plaza. Wow! My Jeep is all pock-marked with dings. Looks like someone took a hammer to it. And the windsheild cracked from at least 10 of the hail stones hitting it. I am know hundreds probably hit it, but only 10 impacts shattered it in spots. Here is a video clip as the storm started. http://www.coueswhitetail.com/video_clips/...le_oct_2010.wmv and here are a few pics for those that can't watch the video:
