129 and 131 Mexico bucks
CouesWhitetail replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Mexico
Not legal to bring back sheds or picked-up heads, unless you have an importers permit, which probably only one or two people in AZ have. -
Congratulations! Love the pics!

Wildlife Conservation License Plate
CouesWhitetail replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in The Campfire
Not sure how you got your cost estimate? The plate is $25 per year, same as the old style. Perhaps you were getting extra costs from personalizing the plate with your own phrase? Unless you personalize it, the plate is $25 a year and $17 of that goes to wildlife conservation. here is the text directly from the service arizona page where you buy the plate: Arizona Sportsmen for Wildlife Conservation – Available to everyone. $17 of the fee goes to funding wildlife habitat projects, outdoor recreational and educational opportunities. Initial Application Fee $25 / Annual Renewal Fee $25 -
Help support deer management in the state by buying tickets in the Great American Deer Raffle. The AZ Deer Association has worked hard to put together a great list of hunts that you can win. You can also win an excellent deer rifle. here is a link for more info about the raffle. This is the third year we have had this raffle and it's getting bigger and better all the time! http://www.azdeer.org/

how to get in shape for shed hunting
CouesWhitetail replied to copenhagenGDIB's topic in Shed Hunting
Just do some hiking somewhere everyday, even if it's just a 1/2 hour hike. Find some public land around your house and hike some of the hills or mtns and you will get in shape. You can always carry a backpack with some weight to make it more challenging if you like. -
That was a fun read and sounds like a great recipe!

I have a 701rc2 that I use on my larger velbon tripod and then I use a Jim White head on my smaller tripod that I use for backpack hunts.

Yes, we will have one and yes hopefully this spring. I haven't been able to reach John Sneed of AllStar Bass (he is the guy who ran our last tourney). But I hope to get one going soon! In addition to the bass tourney, is anyone interested in a crappie tournament, perhaps at San Carlos?

Congrats Rick on the knife! Hey Eric, he might want the 22xt blunt tip blades instead of regular since he is a taxidermist and capes out stuff a lot. Great store design!

Congratulations to Ana and Ernesto for a great hunt!! Too bad you don't have video of her jumping up in the air after the shot with her big smile from ear to ear! Nice job!

Hey All, I think this is a really neat-looking buck and makes for a good guess the score. Please note there is a little kicker off the g-2 on the left side which is hard to see in most of the pics. Guess the GROSS score to the nearest 1/8 of an inch and post your guess by Feb 14 at 5 pm. thanks Chad for letting us use your cool buck for a contest!

Just wanted to say thanks again to JavaCowboy (aka Matthew Young). He does some nice computer work to make collecting the data from our guess the score contests easier to do, which means we get to have a lot more of those contests than we used to. I met Matthew and his family at a recent hunting expo and they picked up some CouesWhitetail.com tshirts. And he just sent me these great pics of his beautiful family and their shirts! Love it! Thank you!
