    Bowhunting Rabbits

That's interesting...the one I ate was an antelope jackrabbit and I was impressed how good it was. I will have to try a blacktail and see if I get the same results as you.

If more of you want to go, let's consider filling a fourth table! The ADA could really use the support. And the more of us that go, the more fun it will be!

    tshirt sighting!

Yes, it is growing for sure TJ. The other day a friend said he was watching TV and after awhile he realized the guy being interviewed was wearing a CouesWhitetail.com hat. I think he said it was a show about towing or something like that. I will have to ask him more details.

    Lobsta from Lark

Lark asked me to post this for him. we cooked up some halifax baloney this weekend. 2 1/2 pounder, $11. baloney is 6 bucks a pound here. so i eat lobster to save money. gettin' sorta sick of it. there are only 156 ways to cook it and i'm on my second time through the list. cooked 7 of em this weekend. 6 for me and one for my wife. she got the biggest one tho. i could only eat 4 because she made a couple pans o' them red lobster style biscuits and i ate a couple dozen o' them too. so i took the leftovers and put em in a gunny sack and run over em with my huyndai rental car a buncha times and mushed em up for samwich spread. but the digby scallops are startin' to show up now, so i can get a little variety instead o' lobster all the time. them digby's are about the size of a hubcap for a lowrider and man they are gooooooood. tonight tho i'm gonna go eat some hog meat somewheres to celebrate bin laden gettin' one in the head. i still ain't got to go out on the lobster boat yet, but maybe in a week or two. be home in a couple months. later, Lark.

    Unit 27 Turkey Adventure!

Awesome story! Way to stick it out and not only did you have the family with you but you had a mother dog and puppies, that's some serious family time! Love this part of the story: "4:00 am, and the Ford Fiesta speeds to the turkey woods!" LOL!! And you are right, the family that hunts together, stays together

    Got him...

I saw a picture on facebook of what looked like a dead Osama Bin Laden with lots of head wounds. Not sure it's official but it looked believeable. Personally I think it's smart to not bury him on land in order to avoid having a place where people can go to honor him. And I think trying to observe a muslim tradition for his burial is also smart in order to avoid further inflaming radicals. My friend just emailed me that her son is serving on the aircraft carrier that buried Bin Laden at sea. I find it hard to believe that they didn't tear him to shreds on the ship in an impromptu display of revenge.

    Lions, Snakes, Illegals, Oh My!

I recently received a contract to do owl surveys in the Chiricahuas and Mt Graham. It's physically challenging work, but beautiful terrain. My husband and I just got back from a few days down toward Rucker canyon. We were able to take the dogs with us and they had a BALL!! My husband called me a "japanese tourist" because I took so many photos of the dogs (Julie and Sunshine), but they were so cute having fun and getting all exhausted on our hikes. One night we were out doing surveys and Julie started running around madly in the forest. I could tell she was dragging something and at first I thought she found a deer skin or something like that. Turns out it was a piece of what I assume was some illegal Mexican's blanket (there was other illegal trash in the area as well, but not a lot). I don't know how Julie managed to fly full speed through the bushes and forest with this 4-6 foot piece of blanket without getting caught, but she seemed to have no trouble with it. She thought it was the greatest toy ever!! Leave it to Julie to find something good about all the illegal immigrant trash in the forest! Julie loved the water holes! Although Sunshine doesn't like to swim, she did have a ball hiking around chasing lizards and spooking an occasional deer. She likes to look up in the trees for squirrels. the happy team: Here are some scenery pics: We encountered three different lion scrapes in our hikes. One was much larger than the others. The photos kind of flattened things out, so it's harder to tell they are scrapes...it was real obvious in the field. We only encountered one blacktailed rattlesnake... and luckily it rattled before we got too close. One morning after a predawn and early morning survey, we came back to our tent to find an exhausted female hummingbird stuck inside. When we got her out, all she could do was flop onto the ground. I tried to get sugar water into her for quite awhile but she didn't even have the strength to open her bill. I finally pried it open as gently as I could and force fed her drops of a sugary apple cider mix we had. That seemed to really help although she eventually got coated on her head and throat with sugary mess. She finally started to be able to drink on her own and we rinsed her in clean water to try and get the sugary coating off her before we let her go. She flew up into a tall pine, but she just barely had enough lift...it was like watching a heavily loaded helicopter trying to get elevation. Hopefully she made it ok. here are some not-so-flattering photos of a beautiful bird she is in here flopped on the ground: Both dogs completely exhausted themselves with all the fun and excercise! crashed-out Sunshine during a break in our hike:
