Bear cubs stay with their mom for more than a year, like about a year and a half. Females only have cubs every other year so they can raise the cub. Sounds like his mom is dead, perhaps killed during the recent bear season. I think it's possible the cub could survive, let's hope he does. Normally he would den with his mother this winter....let's hope he figures all that out on his own....

Hope you have a great hunt! Take lots of pics!

You can get a replacement remote for free from the DLC company. You have to specify which camera it's for and whether it's the black remote or the white remote. I might have one extra white remote on hand, but I am not sure, so better to get one from the company. Here's how you can contact Covert Scouting Cameras: Phone: (877) 462-1799 Fax: (877) 232-1556 Email: info@dlccovert.com Mailing Address: Covert Scouting Cameras Inc. 4338 Greenridge Spa Road Lewisburg, KY 42256

Wow, great pics, I like the sequence too. are there four bears in the last pic or just three....looks sorta like one is up against the sows side?

Sometimes it's the SD card. You might try swapping the card with another one. If you get the blue screen, it usually means the camera doesn't have either batteries or the SD card working. And sometimes it is just a matter of taking the SD card out and reseating it, but sometimes you have to change the card. And then as Bonecollector mentioned, sometimes it just means it needs new batteries. It's also possible the cord on the remote isn't getting a good connection...in which case a new remote would likely fix that.

love it!

Well, sponsors Will Shill (Gila Outdoor store manager) and Chris Jacob (Sonoran Ghost Outfitters) came by my house the other day to drop off my bow which still needs a part for my bow sight to work. That part is on order, but in the meantime I needed to practice so I thought of putting a clamp on the sight to hold the vertical adjustment in place. It works great! Even easier to adjust the sight...just loosen and move. No more fumbling with an allen wrench trying to work the little screw. It's a tad on the noisy side though! Anyway Chris and Will said I had to post pics so you guys could get a good laugh. if my part doesn't come in time for my elk hunt, this patch will keep me hunting!

+1 I believe it's illegal to bolt stuff into trees on most USFS land....might want to check with the particular forest you want to use that on...

Hey All, Most of you are familiar with Sportsmans Warehouse and all the great variety of products they carry from guns/ammo to camping and hunting gear. Sportsmans Warehouse has teamed up with CouesWhitetail.com and other sponsors to bring you the new Bucks and Bulls Contest that Sportsmans is running this year. (this contest is in addition to the regular Coues buck contest we run here ever year....just more chances to win some money). They have tried this contest in other states in the past and it worked out great, so they want to try it this year at the Mesa store. There is no pre-registration to enter their contest, but you do have to bring your elk or deer (coues or muley) to the Mesa store to enter it in their contest (and you have to leave the cleaned up rack there at the store for them to display during the contest). 1st, 2nd, 3rd each division, each species is $300, $200, $100 SW gift cards, based on overall SCI score. Here is a pic of how they intend to display the racks. If you have more questions about the contest, please call the Mesa Store and talk with manager Ryan Steele (480-558-1111). You can enter both the CouesWhitetail.com contest and the Sportsmans Warehouse contest (assuming you are a registered forum member here before your hunt starts). So you can double your chances of winning prizes! let's help make the Sportsmans Warehouse contest a success this year! Ryan will be sharing photos of the entrants here on CouesWhitetail.com. more info about the contest:
