Ok, I added another question to the poll. I didn't use this wording, but instead took the wording from your first post where you started the discussion. Hopefully you are ok with that. Don't you think rifles make it easier to kill bears? Why do you support rifle hunting for bears? to me it's a lot easier to climb a hill glass up a bear, set up for a shot and kill him than it is to follow hound dogs through miles of rough country. Don't you think glassing makes it easier to find bears? You might want to think about why you draw the line where you do. There are all kinds of people who thinking using big optics and hunting with rifles is unsportsmanlike (is that a word??).

Hey, Nodinks since you wanted to know what people think I added a poll where people can vote and you can find out. People can vote anonymously and so it should get you a bunch of votes from people who don't feel like writing out their opinion in this thread. I will never understand why some people think it's so easy hunting bear or lions with dogs. I can tell you that the only people I have ever heard call it easy are people who haven't done it. Put in some miles behind dogs hunting legally and see if that doesn't change your mind. Making the argument that we should ban hunting with dogs because you know some people who do it illegally is like asking to ban hunting because there are poachers in this world....

I second what you guys are saying. I think we are now up to about 40 youth hunt stories posted in the last 2 weeks. KEEP IT COMING! I am lovin' it! I think it is so important to get those kids out there having fun hunting! A big thank you to those that take their kids out hunting and those that help support them!

+1! Thanks Shane for helping him out and Congratulations to the young hunter for getting his cow elk!! Dressing a cow on a steep slope is indeed a challenge! Are you familiar with the gutless method? either way it's a challenge with an elk on a really steep slope!

Oh man, I am so sorry to hear this. What a horrible feeling it must be to have someone violate your house and steal your hard-earned property. My prayers go out to you and your family. Glad you are all safe and I really hope you get some of your stuff back and they catch these thieves!

Havalon knives are amazing! but you have to be careful!! http://www.coueswhitetail.com/bookstore/havalon_knives.htm They aren't exactly what I would call an all-purpose knife, since you can't twist or pry with them, but they are phenomenal at skinning and cutting up meat. They last pretty long, but if it gets dull, you just put a new one on....CAREFULLY!!!

Good reminder to think about the impression you leave with the public while at camp and when you leave. I always try to leave our camp cleaner than it was when we got there. I take a lot of trash home with me that isn't mine. And please make sure your campfires are out when you leave camp!! Even if it's not windy when you leave, it may be later and re-stoke those coals.
