here is a closeup just for you of the elk tacos sprinkled with garlic salt. Taco night during our hunts has sort of become a tradition! Yum! -

I think it's fine to use harvest or killing. Either way is accurate. I do like the extra connotation that the word harvest has which implies using a renewable resource. I think linking hunting to the idea of harvesting something like corn or whatever is a good thing since most non-hunters can understand the value of growing and harvesting your own food. I think this video does a good job of linking the two concepts and explain a lot about why people hunt. Those of us that spend a lot of time volunteering on wildlife habitat improvement projects are certainly tending a crop...

Wilderness Athlete Products added to the store
CouesWhitetail posted a topic in CouesWhitetail.com Store
I really find these products make a difference. Wilderness Athlete is dedicated to bringing you some great products that help you keep your energy and focus up during a hunting trip. They also want to help you reach any weight loss goals you have by providing healthy meal replacement shakes, weight loss supplements and multi-vitamins. And for those that get headaches and nausea at higher elevations (say >8500 feet), then you should consider the WA high altitude advantage supplement. I know I could have used it while working on mt graham a week ago! I have used the performance bars, the hydrate and recover mix, and the energy and focus mix and really found they helped keep me feeling strong during some backpack hunts. No problem with regular range finders that I know of. Boone and Crockett says no using sights with built-in rangefinders. For more info on their idea of what is ok and what is not, visit this link: http://www.boone-crockett.org/huntingEthics/ethics_affidavit.asp?area=huntingEthics

tough times and drastic measures
CouesWhitetail replied to arizonaelitefreak's topic in The Campfire
Wow, that is a tough decision. I guess the only way it's a bad decision is if you get a job immediately after selling the stuff. Then you sold them for no reason. But if you do get a job then you can buy them back, so I guess sell them if you really need the money. Your hunting friends can always loan you gear until you get back into full employment. I think Outdoorsmans is looking to hire a salesman who knows optics and hunting gear, so you might be able to do that for awhile. http://www.outdoorsmans.com/ -
Bear hunting with dogs..
CouesWhitetail replied to NoDinks's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
You might want to call the offices for the recordbooks and clarify their position on this...you are sadly misinformed on bears not being allowed to be entered if they are taken with the aid of dogs. The only problem with fair chase on a hunt with dogs is if someone has dogs with collars and uses the receiver to locate the dogs during the hunt or if they are using radios to communicate during the chase. -
