My husband has been out to two different areas that have some great poppy blooms going on right now. One area is on the San Carlos and one is near Superior. The first set of photos is from San Carlos and then the 2nd group is from Peachville Mtn. Read below for directions to each site. Here are a few pics that my hubsand Paul took recently on Peridot Mesa, on the San Carlos Reservation (you need a $10 recreation permit to visit this area, available at Circle K and FastStop in Globe or Basha's on the Rez - just 2miles past peridot mesa). Directions: Take hwy 70 toward San Carlos and just past milepost 268, look for dirt road on left, marked by a cattle guard that is bracketed by two white H-shaped poles. Drive the road about .5 mile to the flowers! You can see them from the hwy. Here are some photos Peachville Mtn near Superior (no permit needed). Directions: from PHX area, take Hwy 60 to Superior. Just past milepost 225 look for superior airport and Welcome to Superior sign on Right. Opposite this, on left side of road, is unmarked dirt road (Silver King Mine Rd/Forest Rd 229). Take this road approx 4 miles North towards peachville mtn. Watch for industrial park and electrical utility substation within first 1/2 mile and bear right around each of these. After four miles go past wooden livestock corral, and the best poppies are within the next half mile (above and to the left).

Many thanks to AGFD for providing a grant that funded the food portion of this camp. We had about 21 novice women hunters at the camp and about 30 mentors. Youth Outdoors Unlimited had about 5-8 guys cooking for everyone and the food was great. Unfortunately I didn't take pics of the food!! Bummer! The ribs were awesome, as was Woody's dutch oven cornbread with green chili pork mixed in. YUM! Woody also bought a nice bouquet of flowers to put on the table for the ladies! Nice touch! We had a lot of rain thursday and some of the ladies had never even set up a tent before, much less in the rain and in the dark!! so it was an adventure for many! Many thanks to TJ and Peg, Ilene and Kathy for providing some great food on Wednesday night when some of our students arrived from out of state before the official hunt started! Peg did a tri-tip roast, some javelina stuffed mushrooms and jalapeno poppers and yummy cheesey potatoes. Ilene made perfect ribs and I believe Kathy made a pasta salad. I pulled into camp late on Wednesday night and was ever so grateful for that amazing food! I got to test out my new popup camper and it performed like a champ in the wind and rain! What a treat to have a heater and some warmth on those cold mornings and nights. My friend Linda shared the popup with me for a couple days and then Tracy and Angie stayed with me one night also! Great company! I can't say enough about the quality of the mentors we had for this camp!! We had some great hunters there that are also very good at teaching a novice hunter all about things like glassing, stalking javelina, and how to make a good shot. This camp would be nothing without the great mentors that dedicate there time to this event. Thank you so much!! Unlike last year, we only had 1 lady kill a javelina. But we had maybe 5 ladies miss shots at pigs. At least this year we didn't have any wounded and unretrieved javelina. We had a GREAT turnout of CouesWhitetail.com members who served as members. Forum member YOUNGGUNZ came out there with a great positive attitude and maps of known locations of herds as well as a posse of great guys who helped glass. It was his crew that managed to get the one and only pig of the event. Thanks so much to team YOUNGGUNZ!! It was a real pleasure working with Carl and his crew. TJ and Peg, Pine Donkey, Roger and Ilene, Mark Healy (Wildlife Callers), Casino Canines, Gr8whiteJr and Girlygirlhunter were some of the other members that were there and were so very helpful!! They served as great mentors, let people stay in their RVs and provided some amazing food before and after the official hunt. Hopefully I am not missing anyone! If I am speak up. here is a list of all the mentors (sorry if I am missing anyone! please let me know and I can update the list): Michelle Crabb (AGFD) Ilene Hailey Tom Joiner Gerry Perry (retired AGFD) Cindi and Corky Richardson Kathy Greene Debbie Wesch Tracey and Angie Linda Dightmon Carl Young and Team Young GUNZ! Mark Healey and his friend Mike Jon Vance Mark Frieberg (AGFD) Mark Hullinger Gabe Paz (AGFD) Reland Kane Scott Greene Donna VanVlack Jerry Gollubier Ken Rowlett Nash Clark Andrew Nelson Jeff Beck Derrick Greene here are some pics of the event: on the last day my student hiked up to a cave where we thought the pigs had gone (but they hadn't) and found fresh lion tracks and a scrape. here is a pic of her looking down from the area.

Keven, tickets are still available. We have one table full and several people sitting near us that could use some company! So if you would like to go, buy your ticket today and then just look for us and sit near us. you can buy tickets today online, but likely I will pull that tomorrow since it's so close to the banquet.

Thank you to everyone who came out and expressed an opinion at last nights’ meeting. The ADA board strongly values people that take the time to get involved and who have a passion for wildlife conservation. There were several requests last night for the ADA board to clarify whether we supported HB2072 or not. I think many on the board felt that our position was made known by prior posts in this forum, but in order to solidify that position, the board voted not to support HB2072. There were also several requests from the public to clarify our future relationship with AZSFW and the ADA is re-evaluating our relationship with AZSFW. Many on the board felt it was very important to reach out to our membership and ask for their input. So we will be doing that by email immediately. We will take that input, along with input from last night to help guide us in our decision about whether or not to support AZSFW in the future. This is a difficult issue for the board because we strongly feel that AZSFW has done some great things for sportsmen in the past. We also feel there is a very strong need for a group that represents sportsmen’s concerns in the political arena. We do not have a solution for this problem at the moment. As a board we do not agree with how AZSFW created the bill and how it was pushed through. We feel that AZSFW has not represented sportsmen well on this particular issue, nor have they communicated effectively with the sportsmen and stakeholders about the provisions of this bill. The ADA board also voted to send a strongly-worded letter to AZSFW expressing our displeasure with the situation that this issue has caused both our organization and sportsmen in our state, and asking them for clarification on where that group intends to go from here. We want to know if there will be any measures put in place to stop a fiasco like this from happening again (i.e., more transparency and better communication with sportsmen). We want to know if the idea of this bill is completely dead or not. Once we receive feedback from our membership and the AZSFW, the ADA board will make a decision on future support of AZSFW. I know many of you will not appreciate the slow, measured approach to this and would prefer an absolute decision now. I can assure you that the ADA board will be addressing this issue and ask that you reserve judgment until the board has a chance to meet and discuss this. -

Ryan, just to clarify, Suzanne Gilstrap was not at the meeting. Perhaps you are confusing our administrative assistant (Tracey Martin) with her? I think there were only two ladies up there with the board, me and Tracey. Suzanne actually requested that the board give her time to make a presentation at the meeting and we said no, this was for public input not for AZSFW to make their case. Yes, this issue and all the yelling and such online has been very hard on me. I appreciate your plea for support and I appreciate that there are people that find this site so useful that they donate money to support it. Thank you. It has always been my hope that CouesWhitetail.com can help build a positive and productive hunting community that not only shares their hunt successes but also works for the good of wildlife in Arizona. I will post the results of the meeting shortly. -

http://www.aaadiamondsphynx.com/ LOL! looks like they could use them. -
i see deer with its right rear leg raised - but no fawn - oh well no biggy - fawns shoulda been already weaned - fawning season in july / august! I doubt 7 month old fawns suckle but i could be wrong ! I don't think there is a fawn either. I think that deer is walking. The white patch is the underarm of it's right front leg. I think that deer is actually a fawn from this past summer which would make it about 7-8 months old and it wouldn't have a fawn yet.

Thanks....I was just curious where most of the fur ends up and how it's used. I assumed some are turned into jackets, are there other big uses for them? I also wasn't sure which countries or markets were buying the most fur. thanks for the info -
Congrats again David, it's great to see the video!
