    ATTENTION ADVERTISERS, AND ADMINISTRATORS

The password for the political subforum is Respect....anyone can go there and discuss politics. Hopefully you will handle such discussions in a way that is respectful and doesn't require moderation. I appreciate those that keep political posts to that subforum rather than forcing me to move them there.

    ATTENTION ADVERTISERS, AND ADMINISTRATORS

As I have said many times, this website wasn't created as a place to discuss politics. There are many forums specifically dedicated to political discussions. This one is for hunting and the outdoors. I originally asked people to refrain from political discussions but that seemed impossible for people to honor that request, so to help those who wanted political discussions I created a subforum for that. It's a private forum because when we tried having it open, then the political discussions kept getting out of hand and I was frequently called in to moderate those. That is not how I want to spend my time. So in order to give those few who enjoy the political discussions some freedom to do so, I created their own subforum. As with all topics, I try to move them to appropriate subforums when they aren't started in the correct forum. That holds true with the political topics. If I see one that is non-hunting related politics, I move it to the political subforum. It's not deleted and you are free to go there to continue the discussions. If it's hunting related politics we have a different subforum for that. As I have said over and over, I can't please everyone, and I have to go with what my vision of the site is. If you aren't happy here, feel free to find another site. My focus for my time and energy on this site is for hunting and outdoors related topics. If you want a political site, go create one. The only reason I created a political subforum on this site was out of respect for some longtime members who really enjoy political discussions. But I won't have it dominate this site or waste my time having to moderate it. There are many very important topics in this world that we don't discuss much here....this site isn't going to solve the world's problems, it's just a place to discuss your passion for hunting and the outdoors.

    Happy Birthday Amanda

Thanks everyone! We had a great time on our campout! Climbed a fire tower to watch the moon rise, cooked some great steaks over the campfire and listened to elk bugle all night in the full moon light. Perfect weather too! Oh and some woodcutter left me birthday gifts of split juniper along the road to camp....it apparently fell off his truck and he wasn't coming back for it, so we grabbed some for the fire. Our jeep was loaded up in back, so poor Paul had to fill the wheel well with the wood and carry some in his lap too!! Such an accommodating husband And then the next day we hiked into an amazing canyon full of fall color! It was surreal! The ground was covered in colored leaves, the understory and mid-story were full of color and the overstory was stunning! It was such a great trip!

    Happy Birthday Amanda

Thanks everyone! I made some saguaro fruit scones this morning for a fine birthday breakfast. they were yummy! We harvested the fruit quite awhile ago, but had it in the freezer so that was a nice treat! This evening we will go camping to hear some elk bugling and enjoy the full moon. Can't wait!

    San Carlos

Yes, they do. Last I checked they were around $600-700. You can also archery hunt elk on San Carlos in the Malay Gap unit for about $3,000. But the trophy elk hunts are in the other units (Hilltop, Ninemile and Dry Lake). Those are high dollar hunts for bulls over 400 inches. San Carlos is amazing for big elk. you can call the dept for more info http://www.scatrecreation.org/

    Prickly pear syrup

If you don't want to take time to burn the spines off, you can try our method which is rolling them around on your driveway with a rake and rinsing them off and swirling them with water in a 5 gallon bucket. Works well. here is a document that I have posted before on how to pick and juice the pears. My husband teaches classes on how to juice them at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum in Superior.
